Is this game a masterpiece? No. It is a thrilling point and click adventure where you play an old scientist and a young time traveller who fight climate change in a long Story with eight acts that reminded me of a (cheesy) novel. If you are just interested in point and click adventures go here:…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A point-and-click adventure, one where time travel turns into humanity's final hope against the climate crisis. It doesn't lean on heavy-handed messages, outdated melodrama, or stiff scientific reasoning. Instead, it follows the natural flow of its story. What could have been a preachy lecture becomes something gentler and more approachable, carrying its theme without pressing too hard.

Difficult Achievement(s): No. Intro A New Beginning - Final Cut is a point-and-click game about a time traveler that is teamed up with a retired algae scientist to prevent a catastrophe. The story is separated into 8 chapters with some mini-games in between. Pros: - Solutions can be tricky - Unique narrative with the comic style visuals - Skip button for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[url=store.steampowered.com/app/105000/A_New_Beginning__Final_Cut/]A New Beginning's original plot, plausible everyday protagonists and detailed backgrounds aren't enough to save it from muddled logic and crudely phoned-in voice lines. Its 4:3 screen ratio denotes the end of an era, but the game retains a valid comic book presentation with nicely detailed hand-drawn backgrounds that still look appealing today. The weathered interface, however, suffers a different fate. Click and hold…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game hearkens back to the old school Point and Click adventure game, with sometimes obtuse puzzle solutions and nonsensical requirements for when you can take an action. And that's fine. We should all know what we're getting into when we fire up a P&C adventure. The first strike against the game is the voice acting. It sounds like the lines were read, out of context, in a vacuum. The inflection is stilted and confusing. I get hints that the VAs might have talent, but it's hard to tell…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I patiently played the game until it became clear it would not improve. I then found that there are save files to quickly get the achievements, and did that for the ones I had left to acquire. The voice acting is not even trying. There is a complete lack of sound control either, so voices get louder and quieter throughout the game, as does the music. The story lacks any creativity or imagination, and is horribly designed. The constant unexplained ideas, randomly being magic to progress to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this a year or so ago and had a great time with it. Maybe the plot story was just very relevant to our time (climate change etc), or it was just a really well told and interesting story; either way it was one of my favourite adventure games in a long while. The quality of the game is mostly very high throughout, with only a few sections showing it's Indie roots (I had one section where it only gave German dialogue options, compared to the English it was meant to be in!), and maybe this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all I need to say, I LOVE THE COMIC STYLE THING! AND HAVING IT MATCHED WITH THE MENU? OMG! Its so unique! Now, the story is timeless , which is something great and the characters evolve nicely throughout the story, properly accepting their roles and responsibilities. Also the fact that you play between two characters is a nice touch as well. I didn't get bored during the story and I might as well add that it had quite the suspense at some points. You wont need a guide or a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not recommended. The authors push extreme eco-agenda and bend scenario to fit it. In chapter three the whole story falls into slogans, cliche and propaganda.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all it is not a terrible point and click game by any means, but it is also not great either. I think it is just that has a lot of little (or not so little) things wrong that just add up: - the story is kinda strange, nonsensical and you can tell from a mile away that it was written by Germans (nuclear energy bad or something). - I seen a lot of people complaining about the voice acting. Personally I didn't mind it that much, however it is not great. - If you turn on subtitles you run…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is awful. Horrible writing and horrible voice acting on top of it. It's story is also just some climate change activist nonsense. Feels like I am playing a horrible flash game from the early 2000's made by a 3rd grade hippie science teacher. Not sure why the reviews are "mostly positive", this game is absolutely awful in all respects.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The idea is good, the art style is pretty but the voice acting and plot progression is atrocious! This game was so freaking boring right out the gate I rage quit and deleted it. A huge NYAH-UH!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First playthrough review time. This game uses a style where the main task involves finding and using items to move forward. The art looks like a comic book and matches the screens well. Some of the voices sound a bit strange in the translated version, but they mostly fit the different people in the story. The puzzles are built with a good flow, so it is usually possible to finish the story without needing a guide to explain the answers. The story is very direct about its message regarding…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glitch at the end of chapter 2 where the game just shuts off. Boooooooo
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I went into this one wanting to like it. I should have liked it. It’s an adventure game (my natural weakness) and the story itself isn’t even bad. There are some genuinely cool twists, and the overall plot had enough intrigue to keep me curious. But then the game opens its mouth. The voice acting is unbelievable. Not in the good way. It sounds like someone stitched together human speech the way a kidnapper pastes letters from magazines. If this had been released today, I'd assume it was AI…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While i enjoyed overall the game, the bugs present are quite a sad state of affairs, especially for a supposed refined release. Multiple times the prompts switch automatically to russian, lots of crackles and pops in the audio tracks, sometimes lines of dialogue get pushed aside automatically without left-mouse clicking and, oh, yeah, THE ENGLISH CREDITS CUT THROUGH A FEW SECONDS IN. The fact that this was never caught nor patched out in all these years is genuinely embarassing, and without…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →bought this for 2.99e back in 2014, played just now, I wish I hadn't. Art is good enough for a game, the rest like audio and writing is not. This game is making a disservice to climate science due to getting major topics wrong.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very messy and buggy game. Puzzles that break. Had a sequence where you needed to re-do a certain puzzle, triggering a cut-scene for a second time before the game allowed you to progress. Subtitles that are missing or don't make sense. Voice acting that doesn't understand the dialogue. I would go for several other daedalic games before this one. It feels lazy, and barely quality checked.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The voice acting was really, really awful. It's worse than having AI do it. The lines are all mixed up like they weren't recorded together even though they're part of the same paragraph. The story was pretty meh and the crazy insane 'twist' makes no sense. I'd skip this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finally beat this game. Man! After 9 years... Let me tell you about the experience. First off, I purchased this game as part of a "Deponia is the best thing I've ever played gimme more of that Daedalic Entertainment!". So, I started looking for all the quests from Daedalic that Steam could afford me. One of these quests happened to be "A New Beginning: Final Cut". Playing this game as a student in "college" (you could say) left... a pretty bad taste in my mouth: frustrating hard…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art style and the setting is nice but this game fails on several key aspects. Every character in the game talks like Ron Swanson. It's way to easy to softlock the game. While playing the game in English I got some text in russian and spanish. There's a lot of filler items to click which encourages one to ignore them like a door only for a door later on to be relevant to not only open but also walk into the room. The story and plot is ok but I just can't help but feel that this game…

The main characters are Fay and Bent. Fay is a woman who comes from the future and wants to prevent catastrophes that will lead to the collapse of the planet. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ah, the older days of a fantastic Daedalic Point and Click. The story really drew me in and I was totally engrossed until the very end. Something that surprised me in a good way is that puzzles were a lot easier throughout the game and I only had to ask for help towards the ending and I just couldn't make heads or tales of what to do. While it is an older game, I'd highly recommend it if you love point and click games, this one is a fantastic one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had a great time playing through this game. It's a quite accesible point&click puzzle adventure game. There is a skip option for challenging puzzles. The game has beautifully drawn backgrounds and characters. I felt like reading a comicbook from 90's. The story is also very interesting. It has to do with politics, climate change and time travel. The story and the gameplay gave me a sort of Syberia feel. You visit massive areas, some are familiar, others not quite so. The narrative is quite…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If there was a mixed option I would've chosen that, but I think my thoughts have teetered towards giving it a "not recommended". Though the art and music are amazing, everything else has some issues. The voice acting direction is terrible, there are bugs and issues that were never fixed (like action wheels showing in other languages, and subtitles showing up in cutscenes which have speech bubbles already), and the story is paced kind of in a weird way, with an ending twist that was kind of told…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Greta Thunberg and friends: the adventure game. A game that makes you feel like you wasted your time just by finishing it, and I'm not just talking about the awful characters, voice acting, bugs, and technical issues that abound. If you're thinking about playing this...there are better choices for Point and Click adventure games, made by Daedalic Entertainment for that matter (Chains of Satinav, for instance). I can only see this appealing to half brain dead extreme left-wing nut jobs...it's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's shameless propoganda of ecological fundamentlism. Basically the game advocates eco-terrorism, including mass murder... since only immediate and drastic changes will case a change. Even so there is a "happy" ending, it's patronising, condescending and arrogant. I am dissaponted in Daedalic, since I actually like there games
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had actually been looking forward to playing this game for a long time. I wasn't expecting anything big, but I liked the premise. Most of the game was pretty standard fare for point & click adventures, including a certain amount of ridiculousness. However, the ending just ruined the game completely for me. That was just really, really terrible writing. If you have a big plot twist at the end, you need to make sure it improves upon the story, not detracts from it! I'm sure there's a way they…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story isn't engaging and the game doesn't offer good direction. Having to look up a guide to find where a battery was hidden only to find it in a place that doesn't make sense just about summarises my time with the puzzles in this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is astoundingly bad. About the only positives are nice art for most of the background scenes (although this doesn't extend to the characters or to the cutscenes, sadly), decent music, one or two voice acting performances that stand out by being 'pretty decent', and a late-game twist that is at least correct when it points out that most of the backstory you've been told so far is very stupid. As for the rest: the plot is ridiculous, nonsensical, inconsistent and contradictory. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game with nice story and just a few bugs and crashes, but nothing game breaking. Most puzzles are not great though, some are too random, and the game doesn't explain them to you well enough. The good part is that these puzzles can be skipped.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The main theme of the game is b*tching about nuclear power and praising some magic algae-based pseudo-sci-fi alternative energy source. An entire German generation, polluted with fear of nuclear power, became so obsessed that they are making games about a nuclear power plant manager whose mismanagement causes an explosion, ultimately destroying the Earth’s climate (lol). Of course, in real life, burning Russian gas was considered a great green alternative to nuclear power—until the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the original version at the time. To be quite honest I can't really find any differences between that version and this Director's Cut, I think the voices are different. But I wont play it again for the time being, so there might be other differences further in the game. It's a decent game with an interesting story, but to be quite honest it didn't really stayed with me. Lovely art style and also nice animations, much better than for example The Whispered World which was lacking at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty good Point & Click puzzle game, with a solid length, interesting narrative and a lot of puzzles that are, fortunately, not that obtuse. Sadly, it's got several issues that chip away at the quality of the experience, nothing gamebreaking, however. As someone unfamiliar with the Point & Click genre, I'd say this was a good introduction. One of the first things you will notice is the game doesn't utilize Widescreen, not even when set to fullscreen. Another important aspect is that it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A New Beginning is a great game. Developed by Daedalic when they made quality games versus the junk like Gollum.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rather unenjoyable, mostly because of annoying puzzles and the rest of the game doesn't make up for them.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to like this but there are just so many small problems that affect nearly every moment of the gameplay experience. The action wheel is so finicky and clunky and makes literally every interaction with the environment use more clicks and more time than it needs to. Plus it sometimes bugs out and gives me the wheel text in Cyrillic. What's wrong with a simple 'left click for actions, right click to look at' which other games by the same developer use? Also the main voice actress…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game, the presentation and animation style (comic) is quite good, the story isnt that bad, but what really killed it was the horrible voice acting; shallow, robotic and void of emotion, misread most of the times as well. Could have been good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, puzzles are more logical than in previous Daedalic point'n'click games, but the scenario writing is not impressive. The game's ok, but there are a lot better ones.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game didn't age particularly well. The point and click...and wait for dialog, and hunt for pixels gets old really quickly. The positions represented are somewhat interesting, but not anything we won't find ourselves familiar with in short order. I think i'd have lasted longer if there were a way to speed up interfacing with the environment, or if there weren't SO MANY illegal actions.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great artwork, discombobulated story, preachy, comically bad voice acting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like some games from Daedalics Entertainment. But I did not like this game at all and I was looking forward to finally going through it to the end right after I've started. A rather stupid and boring plot revolving around environmental problems and idealistic solutions to these problems. Uninteresting and rather primitive riddles, except for a couple of unusual ones. Sometimes strange behavior and motivation of characters. Although the Bent character is quite good, logical, with funny…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice Sci-Fi story told through a comic book format about climate change. I see people in the reviews mistake this game as some grandiose message about the environment but it is nothing more than a children's Sci-Fi story. The developers did not market it like some "end of all suffering" masterpiece, (unlike the creators of the TV show "13 Reason's Why" where they marketed the show as a mandatory viewing for all conscious citizens and attempted to make it required reading/viewing at schools.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A New Beginning - Final Cut (2012) A New Beginning is a cinematic game done in the style of a graphic novel. You play as two characters, Bent Svensson a retired Bioengineer and a girl from the future, Fey. Fey is there to convince Bent that his research is the only thing that can save the Earth in the future from climate cataclysm. The characters themselves are fine, I have no problem with them. Other characters you meet and face off against are also fine at best. While I personally am not a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you see the name of the developer ("Daedalic Entertainment") and decide to buy this game, I advise you to slow down. And also think about how much you really love quests! The most indifferent Daedlic's project. The plot is fine, although you already know the ending halfway through the game. You don’t give a ♥♥♥♥ about the characters, because they don’t really reveal themselves. At the beginning Fay(one of main characters) is annoying she is not like a women with life experience she is like a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This might be the first negative review I've posted. I think I got this as part of a Humble Bundle pack, so of course I paid practically nothing for it. Still, it's one of the worst games I've ever played. The only reason I finished it was to see how bad the ending was. I like point and clicks, but this one was pretty bad. The "cinematics" are choppy. The pacing is bad. The mini-games are either really simple or ridiculous hard without checking a walkthrough. Oh, and the blah blah blah…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid game, with a silly but enjoyable plot, a couple of taxing puzzles and generally excellent art. It is however let down largely by the most stilted voice work I've heard in years, if the game wasn't so old i'd have assumed AI did it. Devoid of all emotion. Crazy work for an otherwise excellent experience.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a bad example of a point and click game without any indication where to go. So, it becomes like so many of this ilk and one just clicks on everything hoping something may click. 10/100

I already dislike point-n-click "adventures", because nothing says "exciting" more than clicking on the same crap over, and over again trying to find the MacGuffin you need, and it's hidden like a toy in a toybox. From the reviews I've been reading this game is mid at best, and I'm not wasting my time on mid. Protag is a miserable…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A New Beginning The Final Cut is a classic point and click adventure that has aged surprisingly well. Even in 2025, it remains enjoyable thanks to its focus on story, atmosphere, and thoughtful pacing rather than fast mechanics or visual spectacle. The narrative is engaging and encourages the player to slow down and pay attention. Puzzle design is fair and logical, and you can solve them without relying on walkthroughs as long as you understand the patterns and details the game presents.…
