60 of 180 · most liked first1954: Alcatraz is a truly outstanding adventure game that immerses players in the gritty world of Alcatraz prison in the 1950s. The game's story is both gripping and thought-provoking, following the journey of a man named Joe who is falsely imprisoned and must find a way to escape the island and clear his name. The attention to historical detail is impressive, making the game feel authentic and true to the time period. The puzzles in the game are well-crafted and challenging, but not so…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WARNING! Game will softlock you on multiple occasions! That alone is reason enough for down voting this game!!! Despite its 3D look, "1954 Alcatraz" is a very good point & click game with good writing and voice acting. It plays like an old movie and incorporates all the usual tropes of that setting and era. This game is fairly short and tries to be realistic, for that reason it lacks ridiculous moon logic for which German point & click games are famous for, especially Daedalic Entertainment…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Review of 1954 Alcatraz 1954 Alcatraz is a captivating point-and-click adventure game that masterfully combines a noir aesthetic with a gripping story. Developed by Daedalic Entertainment, it offers a refreshing break from typical adventure games, diving deep into themes of love, trust, betrayal, and escape. The game's narrative is its strongest feature. It follows Joe, a convict plotting his escape from the infamous Alcatraz prison, and his wife, Christine, who must navigate San Francisco's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good adventure, but there is a serious bug. Do not open the safe before giving the bird book to the recipient, if you do you cannot switch back and thus cannot finish the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4 hours to 100%. The achievements dont work by default, you gotta run in compatability mode windows vista SP 2 and THEN run as adminstator. Fun game, nice story, point and click, it was my jam.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not much into point-and- clicks, but this one was fun and has a good story line. It's interesting and not so easy that you can figure it out without following the story or by simply clicking on all the options. You alternate between two character story lines which are different enough to keep you engaged. Plus who doesn't love a good 1950s mob story? The devs seemed to be going for a Bonnie and Clyde feel here. If you're going for 100% achievements, you'll need a guide. Some of them…

The music is very good and makes the world feel more alive, and the character voices sound real. You follow two different people as they deal with things like trust and escaping, which is a big part of the story. I have used the name Alcatraz in a few other multiplayer games before. The gameplay involves talking to characters and looking around to find the way forward. The choices made by both characters can…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The literal first achievement of the game that's literally just for playing the game has a 38% achievement rate. So I think a lot of people get the game in bundles and literally never play it. Store page makes it look pretty boring but its actually pretty good. Timelines a bit confusing but the switching between characters is pretty nice beyond that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can spin the cat on the music recorder. Good enough. Nice story with decent multiple endings, fun puzzles and very good overall atmosphere. 100% boils down to doing a genocide run and seeing every ending, which is alright. However, changing the settings in any way will disable achievements until you restart your PC.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd give this a neutral rating if I could, but since Steam limits ratings to "recommend" or "don't recommend"... I'm gonna have to go with don't. It's not that 1954 Alcatraz is a bad game, it might even be a good game, it just isn't a great game. By half way through the game it felt almost more like a chore to play through it, than an enjoyable game experience. I wanted to like it, I just didn't. The premise of the story is interesting, but the characters and their relationship are just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you care about achievements, this isn't a game for you. There is a good chance you'll get a couple of them while playing and the rest won't unlock. For the game itself, it is a pretty easy P'n'C adventure, most of it comes down to finding an item and giving it to right person. Story is as you would expect, escape from prison. Unexpectedly, there are a couple of choices you have while playing. You can definitely feel the age of the game though, characters design and their walk especially…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1954 Alcatraz is a tough point-and-click game that plays out like a slow noir film. Expect rough cigarettes, smiles that hide secrets, and choices that come back to haunt you. You play as Joe, a robber stuck in Alcatraz after a heist goes south, and Christine, his partner on the outside. They're just trying to survive, make plans, and maybe save their romance. The game goes back and forth between prison and the criminal world, which keeps things moving and fun. The gameplay is pretty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard pass. I like puzzles and like daedalic point and click, but this wasn't it. It's not super long (i think 2-3 hours), but i had to replay it multiple times for achievements. Not very challenging either, and not very interesting. Easy achievements though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game literally soft locked for me in the first couple of minutes as it removed the interface when I was told to leave the cell and you couldn't do anything from that point onward because there is no interface... When I restarted I did manage to get further and basically found a game where you click everything until the game allows you to progress as there seems to only be 1 correct option at least until you come into the apartment with the second character, then the options do not actually…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let's go to Mexico. In 1954 Alcatraz, you play as Joe, a robber convict in the infamous prison and as Christine, his wife also a robber but roaming around in the city of San Francisco. Both characters are playable for most of the game, each one with a specific big objective. Joe needs to find a way to escape while Christine needs to find the hidden loot of Joe's last robbery. Some puzzles also require passing information between them, as some characters will be present in both worlds. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a shame. I played for 40 minutes - intriguing story, good characters and good animation. I took a short break, then returned only to find the game glitched out when I pressed F10 for a screenshot, as it brought me back to the last save. There’s no key mapping. Even after deleting all saves, the game still loads them. I could change the screenshot key, but I’m so used to F10 that with one wrong move, I lose all new progress and get sent back to the old save. There’s no registered key for…

Next, you walk into a church, and the vibe is marriage is a prison, and confession? Not real. A nice little jab at religion. "Check" (as the character says at the end of one piece of dialogue) that box. And just when it couldn’t get more predictable, the story conveniently reveals that he cheated in the past too. Because of course we need a reason to excuse her toxic behaviour.…

If you read it, thank you and good bye.

I enjoyed it over all, the duo rules well in this one, would this have been only about the guy in the prison wouldn't be that interesting in my view, it gives interesting perspective on the story. Love hand drawn backgrounds.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game, the style was cool and I liked the premise as well as the gameplay. The rest is all negative unfortunately, even what I liked I couldn't experience fully because of a bug that soft locked me from completing the game twice. The first time it happened, I thought I might be able to just restart the story, so I sped through the first half of the game, again, and was on track for getting all achievements in one run. But the bug was still there and stopped me dead…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story's interesting and the voice acting is good, but the UI and controls are so clunky that it kind of spoils the game as a whole. Some of the puzzles are a bit weird, like they haven't been thought out properly. The game also crashed twice, and a couple of bugs meant I had to reload a save. However, I enjoyed it, and I'd certainly recommend.. at a discount. It's around 6-10 hours.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is interesting and your actions can unlock an ending or two. You also have the option to play it in black and white mode instead of colored for better immersion and it does give it a more grim, old-school vibe feeling. Had some issues on my old PC with getting achievements, which I didn't encounter coming back to get the rest when I got a new one. And if you don't get them try launching the game from it's folder, disabling steam overlay, launching as admin, playing windowed, and…

This does not trigger, instead, right before that happens it switches automatically to Christine and you cannot switch back to Joe. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad game. I really liked the characters. Lots of interesting dialogues. The voice acting was pretty good. The game itself is generally normal, although sometimes there were some glitches and inconsistencies. A few times the game froze, but luckily I saved often. The plot was excellent. The whole vibe is straight out of a classic prison break film, with you playing as a convict trying to escape from the infamous Alcatraz prison. The historical setting adds a cool layer of depth, and it really feels like you’re in the 1950s with the gritty, noir-inspired atmosphere.
