I would like to start off by expressing gratitude to a lovely friend of mine, who has gifted me this game and I'm really glad that I could experience this game and played it to completion! Before diving more in-depth, I wish to layout the barebones of this game. This game would take around 1.5 hours to complete; We cannot save as and when we wish, however there are different story checkpoints. So I would highly recommend that you reach a checkpoint before exiting so that if you wish to…

First playthrough review time. I got A Bird Story as a gift from a Steam friend and played it without really knowing what to expect. The game is quite simple, and there is not much text or dialogue. Most of the story is shown through the scenes, colors, music, and small actions. I thought this was an interesting way to tell a story because you can understand what is happening without someone explaining everything. The gameplay is very basic, so there is not much to learn or manage. You mostly…

An interesting concept, but the severe lack of interactivity made it hard for me to stay engaged. By the end, I’d lost the emotional connection the story was clearly aiming for. Overall, it doesn’t reach the same heights as To the Moon, but those who enjoyed that game will likely still find something to appreciate here even without any dialogue.

A beautiful short tale about a lonely child who doesn’t quite fit in anywhere, quietly going through the routines of daily life until one day, he crosses paths with an injured bird… and they become friends. Calling it “just a story” feels like an understatement. I remember how deeply it moved me, how it made my eyes well up. “No, I’m not crying. You’re crying.” I could feel that boy. When he slept, I slept too. When he dreamed, I dreamed as well. I quietly followed his steps. And yes, I…

Far too long for the story there is. It is at least lasting half an hour too long it is annoying when switching to walking simulator, and boring when cut scenes. I hoped it was soon over most of the time.

I had a good laugh when scrolling through the reviews of this game. People self-reporting on how they cried during the game, as if the number of tears equates to merit. I will spare you emotional noise and give you the facts. This one is interesting. A thorough analysis reveals a terrifyingly brilliant truth: "A Bird Story" is not a failure of gameplay. It is a deliberate, weaponized deconstruction of consumer expectation. Freebird Games managed to engineer a masterpiece of pure psychological…

A Bird Story is a quiet little game that made me sit still and feel. Despite the summary suggesting I should play Finding Paradise first, I played this one before anything else in the series And honestly? I don’t regret it at all. This is a short, wordless experience about a lonely boy and an injured bird, told through imagination and small everyday moments. The gameplay is minimal, more like guiding yourself through a moving picture book, but that simplicity works perfectly for the…

A Bird Story (Steam Deck, 82 minutes): Isolated and dreamy, a boy grows a relationship with a bird. Minimal gameplay with gorgeously serene piano music. Beautiful. Simply sentimental, especially to one that has loved a non-human friend.

    12. A Bird Story I forgot to play this - and I've played the rest of the Sigmund Corp series! This was an in-between game as a teaser for Finding Paradise, but it's a beautiful, simple story on its own merit, about a lonely boy and an injured bird. Completely wordless game, and utterly charming.

If you like Walking Sims like Edith Finch, Firewatch etc, highly recommend!

A Bird Story is a game about a boy and an injured bird who join forces to fight an evil monster. Okay, I lied. There is no evil monster. It’s just a game about a boy spending time with the bird he saved. Sounds boring? Maybe. But if you're looking for a short cozy game that captures the vivid imagination of an innocent child, this game might be for you. GAMEPLAY This game is purely story-driven, so the only thing you need to do is walk around and interact with objects. No puzzles. No…

A Bird Story, developed and published by Freebird Games, is a quiet, meditative journey that explores childhood loneliness, imagination, and fleeting companionship. Created by Kan Gao, best known for the emotional masterpiece To the Moon, this standalone narrative acts as a thematic bridge between that game and its sequel, Finding Paradise. Unlike its predecessors, however, A Bird Story takes a bold minimalist approach—it strips away dialogue, complex mechanics, and narrative exposition in…

When I first played A Bird Story, I didn’t understand it. No dialogue, no big choices, no grand explanations — just a lonely boy, a broken bird, and silence. But that silence… it said everything. There’s a kind of ache that lives in the spaces between the frames of this game. You walk through his days — the bullying, the isolation, the tiny moments of wonder — and you start realizing you’re not just playing him. You’re remembering with him. And then, years later, you play Finding Paradise.…

Clocking in at roughly one to two hours, A Bird Story is a short, completely wordless experience centered on a lonely young boy who finds an injured bird with a broken wing. After nursing the bird back to health, an endearing bond forms between the two, blurring the line between reality and the boy's vivid imagination. In terms of gameplay, there isn't much to speak of, even less than in To the Moon. You spend most of your time walking through charming pixel-art scenes, guiding the boy as…

Good visuals but the story was painfully predictable and I feel like this would have worked better as a short film than as a game. I don't feel like I gained anything by being able to interact with this narrative, especially since most of it is told through cutscene

A Bird Story is a very cute experience with very cute things happening. They happen slowly and with almost no interaction from you, the "player". There is no dialogue. The experience mostly progresses by having characters very slowly move around and do things. Occasionally you move a character for a few seconds. Apparently a lot of the experience is in the main character's imagination, but apparently a lot of it isn't, or, something. The story is straightforward and not illuminating or…

A Bird Story is a short, quiet narrative game by Freebird Games, built around mood rather than challenge. It follows a young boy who lives a lonely routine, and the story begins when he finds an injured bird. From the start, the game aims to make you notice small gestures and unspoken feelings instead of pushing constant action. The strongest part of the experience is its atmosphere. Environments are simple but expressive, with careful lighting and details that make everyday places feel…

More like a movie made in RPGMaker than a true visual novel or a "game", but this isn't a bad thing. It's well-made and is just as heartfelt as Freebird's titles, meant to be played together with Finding Paradise.

This spin-off of the To The Moon series can't really be called a game; it's a series of vignettes with the barest of interaction, and a story told without words, literally. And is as typically heartfelt, moving and beautiful as any Freebird game. It's not part of the main series as such although for fans there are connections, but as a standalone tale which asks for less than 2 hours of your time in exchange for peace and a little emotional exercise it's an excellent deal. The story is nice and all but a bit too unnecessarily over the top, like taking care of a bird isn't that taxing to reach these levels of mental distress and seeing phantoms and whatnot. Why the hell was that vet so hellbent on taking the bird from the kid? I was expecting the kid was in a coma and experiencing weird nightmarish experiences after actually getting rabies from that raccoon and just making up the whole bird story lol Nice music though.
