Coming from someone who suffers with mental issues and also works as someone who helps others with mental issues, this is calming; this is relaxing. When you don't want complicated or difficult, but you're still a storyteller in your own world... than I'd recommend chilling out and playing some 9th Dawn. The simplicity... it's what we all need at points in our lives, and this is just that -…

Follow my Curator page, [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/41363546-Fruit-N-Doggie-Reviews/]Fruit N Doggie Reviews, so you can be updated whenever I post a new review. Overall Rating - Seriously Flawed ★★☆☆☆ First Impressions My interest in 9th Dawn III (9D) stemmed from how massive the game's description made it sound, with almost 300 monsters to face off against, and around 1,400 unique items to find. Quantity isn't always the most…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's got a reasonable amount of content and lots of interacting subsystems in it, they all work fine without significant bugs, it's stable over long runtimes... It's just all. So. Boring. I can't recall the last game I saw that incentivized so many hours of the most menial possible in-game tasks, or that had such a long and repetitive campaign of wandering through every world-region and dungeon spamming right-click to kill everything with the exact same spell. Want to do some weapon or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has some cool concepts but is overwhelmingly bogged down by its spammy and non-engaging enemy placement. I like tough RPG-based games. But this one has a fundamental problem - it isn't very fun to progress with, unless you like kill-em-all style enemy swarm games. It took me almost 3 hours to finish 3 early dungeons. By itself this wouldn't be an issue for me, but the combat feels kind of thoughtless, and every room is filled with so many enemies that they feel pointless. The 3rd…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s ok. After the first few dungeons and creature captures, it reveals itself as a little shallow. Impressive game but a repetitive. Dungeon design is also annoying. You can clear a dungeon and then discover you need to enter from a different t location to 100% it. Feels like you need to use a guide all the time. Dungeon mobs reset whenever you change floors so exploration is costly and very annoying!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are some great ideas here, but unfortunately they are buried behind some of the most tedious grinding I have ever encountered. Be prepared to spend hours upon hours running the same dungeons over and over again to power level your character enough to stand a chance in the next dungeon. Get swarmed over and over again by endlessly regenerating trash mobs that give tiny slivers of XP. Get no loot for all these extra runs, because you collected it all the first time. Spend hours collecting…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →definitely one of my all time favorite games ive ever played its got creature taming to scratch that creature collector itch its got crafting to scratch that smithing itch its got an expansive and destructive magic and skill system if you want to feel like a god and best of all its got dungeon crawling to rival even the greatest of dungeon crawlers
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Here are my thoughts on 9th Dawn Remake and 9th Dawn III: I found out about the game series by accident two days ago and I´m blown away. Saw 9th Dawn Remake and really wasn´t sure wether I should get it or not. So I bought 9th Dawn III for a little more than 2 Euro an Steam-sale to find out if the series is any good. After 12 hours of straight playing 9th Dawn III (I´m usually bored by games after 2 to 3 hours) I got to say this is the best experience an most fun game in a very very long…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As wide as an ocean, as deep as a puddle. This game has loads of content but is very shallow for an RPG. It's a fine game if you want to turn your brain off and kill some mobs. However, the level design isn't really "open world", with tons of locked doors you need to go through a maze to get to the other side and open. And the character building is very shallow, even if there are many options to choose from. The only upgrades you really get just add damage.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To the new Players: Ever dive into a sprawling open-world RPG expecting a grand epic, only to find yourself completely distracted and sinking dozens of hours into the card game built inside the game instead? That is the 9th Dawn III experience. It is a fantastic, delightfully messy adventure where you can easily break the game with any build you want, backed by cheesy dialogue that adds so much charm. It is the ultimate laid-back game to kick back with while listening to a podcast or a video,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OK 13 hours in, I can speak to this . This game is an amazing accomplishment for what I think is a single developer. Fun for a while, but the combat is very simple and more appropriate as a mobile game (which this also is.) The crafting, creature collection and leveling takes quite a bit of grinding, and since the combat is so simple, it gets stale pretty quick. I wish crafting as more meaningful and fun early on. ========================== I tried this again a year later and I feel the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun and chill game with lots to explore and collect. Can definitely sink some time into this one, if you're interested, and there's a bit of everything from a card mini game to creature taming and crafting. Worth the price, in my opinion.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →combat rewards sponging with healing items rather than baiting/dodging attacks. magic seems drastically more powerful than any other combat style. crafting skills will ask you to roll 10-20% odds for crafting an item with items lost upon failure, even after significant progression, which results in a lot of pointless farming for ingredients including (without great luck) having to farm 5-10x the amount of materials necessary to craft a given item. skill progression (which is meant to allow you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Actually one of the best RPGs I've played in recent years! So I bought this game after playing the demo when looking for a fun RPG to play on my android, I got around the latter part of the first village before having to purchase the game on my PC out of amazement of how much this game fits my perception of what a good game should be. 9th Dawn III has an insane amount of depth whether it be from the hundreds of types of enemies, the different amount of skills or a wide array of activities…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →9th Dawn III is a great hack-and-slash dungeon crawler/RPG with a lot of content. The game has a semi-open world concept with limited access to areas related to the main story. There is a predefined path to progress in the game, but the number of optional dungeons gives a lot of freedom. I enjoyed the storyline, even if it is a clichéd "save the world from evil" scenario. You can definitely tell that the developers put a lot of attention to detail in this game. There is a huge amount of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh... I don't recommend this game unless you LOVE double-backing repeatedly. I *really* wanted to love this game... I really tried but ultimately, the dungeons are boring, slow, tedious and too maze like. You have to constantly backtrack in order to go up, cross the map, go down, then down, the cross the map then take the proper turns to climb the propper ladder to pull the lever you saw 40 minutes ago. The rub: every time you go up or down (which you will do OFTEN), ***ALL*** of the mobs…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a good game for old school gamers looking for that nostalgic grind session. It is an RPG, but doesn't suffer from the mountains of dialog in your typical JRPG. It's straightforward and simple. Dialog is light. There are quests, but nearly all of them are completely optional. Best of all, the game feels open world. There are no arbitrary limitations hamstringing your character. You can mine, smelt, craft, specialize in any of several different types of magic, alchemy, cooking, and taming…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun game! it's a character driven adventure that's addicting to play. it's also non-linear so there's total freedom, and you're not rushed to do things. Lots of quests, and you don't have to do them to finish the game! 9th Dawn has tons of skills to level up, and pet monsters are one of my favorite aspects of the game. They have stats and can be level'd up as well, just like your character. I'm about 95% of the way through the game as far as the main quest goes, but I have so many…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is just way too slow paced for me, and the skill leveling system is far too slow to be fun. All i really wanted to do in this game was to tame one rat. 4 and a half hours later i am hardly closer than i was before. Maybe itd be too OP to make it easier but its so expensive to do so that it feels like a waste of time. Also the first quest i took is still not completed because the crafting system is so f*cking hard! All i had to do was make 10 stews but you fail so much at it till you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its incredible. Ticks so many itches and in such a great way. A hidden gem. Almost every aspect of this marvel of a game is well designed and is fun and rewarding. One of the best games I played in years and among the most fun and addictive ones I played ever. Hard to believe this was done by a single person. Please consider supporting this labor of love and creativity.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just finished 9th dawn 3 and 1-remastered, both super good games. They have some of my favorite genres and put them together in a good way. Arpg, Pokemon, Skills based (like elder scrolls), and party based RPG. If there was a more developed version of these that looked like d2 resurrected or like POE2 i wouldn't play another game. the only thing that could make these better is to remove level caps. But yeah play them all
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →9th Dawn III is one of the best retro RPGs I've played. It captures the old aesthetics and feel superbly, while playing like a modern, robust RPG. The roguelike mode is a nice bonus, though I didn't end up enjoying it nearly as much as the main campaign, which I played through twice, back to back. Tame all the things!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5/10 The game is not bad, it works good performance and I did not encounter any bugs. However the game has some fatal flaws, this is a singleplayer arpg mixed with crpg(very little) designed for mobile, everything that is melee is very basic and just requires you to left click, there is no sound or visual cue that you hit an enemy besides its health going down so it feels like its missing something when you attack. Companion AI is just bad for the time I used it, they cant even be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall Rating - 4.2 / 5 It's one of my favorite games, but definitely has room for improvement. I own it on iOS, Switch and now Steam. I bought it on Steam to play on my Steam Deck, and that was a great choice as I think the Steam Deck is the perfect way to play this. The Switch is good, too, but Steam version adds Steam Cloud saves and achievements, which gives it a bit of an edge over the very similar Switch version. The Positives The game is easy to start. There are so many viable play…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Homing missiles SHOULD ONLY go for the closest monster and not some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ impossible to determine system of importance because it always goes straight for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ walls because of some impossible to see room with a rat Its even worse because its mostly tunnels that eat your spells even if the target is in front of you Monsters gang up on you in tiny rooms and their homing projectiles just eat you alive, ally monsters on hard mode have less health/damage then their wild counterpart…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have yet to beat Hard mode, so my review is based more on the Normie Mode runs I've made. I like the game as it reminds me a bit of the old Final Fantasy II in the aspects of "Go off course and you're dead" and "With enough effort, you can be great at anything, or everything!" This hardly matters in Normal, as most things will die when you sneeze on them. Below is mostly advice and things I learned while goofing about and dying terribly through the game. Skill raising is an absolute pain in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got to say, I feel addicted to this. Feels like I'm playing oblivion for the first time but way for fun for some reason. I love the amount of stuff you can do and there's so much time consuming things owo. It's slow but I feel like there is so much still to do and I love it. I'd say grab if you have the money laying around if your into big open world dungeon exploring games with pets or no pets, solo or with friends or what ever play style you like. I love the amount of mobs and the amount…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a game. I've played all the ARPGs and this was a lot of fun. Best $15 ive spent in a long time. If you like games like PoE, Diablo etc and you tired of those, give this hidden gem a go. You wont be disappointed. To the developer: Damn fine work with this one. At first I was worried about my skill points but as I did dungeons and found more points I realized I had enough to unlock every skill if I so chose. I loved the crafting system. Again, I was like wtf?! I cant even make a simple…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is excellent - but the zoomed in view almost kills it for me. It's a huge step down from 9th dawn 2 in that regard. Provide the zoom out function devs plaese!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Controls in this game are a joke. You cant choose what controller does what, there is a menu to move controllers from one 'character' to the other but you can't evict the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mystery controller that has taken it's 'rightful' place as primary, game has a really bad way of binding keys for keyboard, and controllers are just as bad, while it acknowledges your controller when you try to 'bind' your controller buttons, it does nothing, that controller is unassigned. My steam input is off as the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →9th Dawn III is a fun action RPG experience that suffers from some user interface and mechanic issues. Overall I recommend this game to anyone looking for a simple ARPG experience and I'd encourage the developer to fix some of the quality of life issues listed below that, while not game breaking, detract from the experience of an otherwise fun game. The Good: The game is just fun to play. It has that intangible quality about it that I personally am looking for. It definitely has some user…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was quite fast paced and there is a lot to do. Story was alright but nothing breath taking. If you want to focus just on the main story the game is quite short but there are a lot of other things to do if you want such as fishing, item collecting, crafting and blasting through some dungeons. I really wish that item pick up radius was much larger. I also dislike the crafting mini game, I know the devs added it in there to avoid being able to make a lot of money without some effort…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an RPG that's kind of like your character is a space ship shooting missiles at asteroids, except that they're rats. Give it a try, you'll have fun figuring it out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I spent almost the entire time I owned this game before getting a refund grinding rats which have around a 10% chance of dropping an ingredient that goes into a soup with a 10% chance of success, and I need 10 of them for a quest. Doing the math, that's 1000 rats. Each run through the dungeon has around 15-20 rats, so to complete the first cooking quest in the first town I would have to run through the first dungeon ~50 times. Those aren't the exact numbers, but it really was close to that.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I come back to this one a lot. I may not finish it when i play but its a lot of fun. Reminds me of a bunch of good retro dungeon crawlers. Color me weird i just love having a whole bunch of rat pets and leveling up till they are crazy strong and being the rat lord? Cooking is also pretty OP in this. gets a bit repetitive but I also think that could be because of how much I've played this! The dungeons increasingly get stronger monsters but each different dungeon has a completely different…

unlabelledView post →TL : DR, This game feels like playing an mmo, only it's single player. Way too grindy and the combat is boring. I started this game with a mage character. I assumed that this would work like most games, where you farm some exp, get some levels and then use your points to learn some spells. Nope, you only get ability points by exploring dungeons and interacting with pedestals that hold ability points on them. So I decide, OK let's go explore some dungeons. As a mage character, your weapon is a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game.... Its honestly a lot of fun. There are better games out there but this game really is quite a bit of fun. I have it on the PC and Iphone. I can go on about the features and what not but I won't do that in this post. The game is cheap... Buy it! If you like pixel games like this and RPG game then you will enjoy this one. Good luck and have fun.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a perfect example of the saying "don't judge a book by its cover." I absolutely love it! I wasn't expecting much based on the art work and gameplay videos but i was very wrong. This game exceeded my expectations by a lot. I never played the first two 9th Dawn games but this one is fantastic! It keeps getting better and better in every way. I'm the type of person that searches every nook and cranny in games and in this game you are greatly rewarded if you're like me and take your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyable dungeon crawler. Massive campain map. Skills. Tons of loot. FREAKIN FISHING! Reminds me Ultima online in some ways. Also good controller support.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat little RPG. Caught me off guard. If you get tired of questing there is crafting, creature collecting, and fishing. All systems in this game are well polished. I enjoy it. Thumbs up
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It might not look like much, but it's a fun ARPG that reminds me of Ultima and RuneScape. However, there're some QOL features that this game lacks that I think would really add to the enjoyment and minimize any frustration or inconvenience that might be felt when playing. For example, it would be nice to have: - Allow the opened map to adjust with your character when it moves. - Adding some sort of lever and chest counters in dungeons to indicate how many levers/chests there are, and how many…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →9th Dawn III is a 2D pixel take on a huge open world filled with smithing, jewelcrafting, alchemy, cooking, taming monsters, a card game along with the usual dungeon crawling and loot that are familiar for everyone. The animation and art for this game are it's weakest points, which as an artist I hate saying. On the plus side, everything else is so damned good that you will get past the look of it pretty damned quickly. It is singularly my only "complaint" about this game, and even there the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favorite dungeon crawlers of all time! This game is so freaking addictive. I've been playing it almost non-stop ever since I got it. There's just so much to do! Exploring new places, facing new monsters, capturing monsters and using them to fight alongside you, finding a companion that levels up has equips, spells, abilities and skills just like you do, and you're also able to switch control to them on the fly. Playing and collecting a cool little card game inspired in Triple Triad…

This is one of those games I took a chance on when limited physical copies became available, because I thought it looked and sounded interesting. It really is! A fun blend of hack-and-slash action RPG with more in-depth "CRPG" progression and such. 220/365 #365games

I've done my best to 100% dungeons as I went along, and spent a fair amount of time investing into the crafting skill trees. I'd say I've probably only hit the halfway mark in terms of collecting and crafting everything, after about 50 hours on this character. It's been a great time turning my brain…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best games I've ever played. Hits nostalgia hard for old flash web rpgs, but is a totally complete experience with couch coop. Plays like a flash Diablo 2 with the ability to tame most creatures you see to fight on your side in a team of 20 creatures + 1 companion. Super captivating experience and I binged it in a week after not being able to put it down. No post-game content, so once you're finished the campaign all there is to do is grind skills and companion levels, but at that…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very creative arpg, none alike in the market
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ummmm....how grindy can a game be before you realize its just a digital fidget spinner, and an ugly one at that? It's almost a medieval life sim with all the harsh health problems associated with it. Poor eye sight from staring at tiny pixels, absolute guaranteed RSI due to the massive amount of grinding for mats you need just to level up at the most paltry pace possible any of the skills available. After 45 attempts, recoup'd one 'Rat Tail Salad' for my efforts - all mat's gone. And to get…

There is some elements that are brought from The Elder Scroll , Diablo , Dungeon & Dragons, even Baldur's Game Dark Alliance. - Richness 10/10 I HATE CRAFTING IN GAME. But this game makes it fun and easy to know that when you start you are a noob because of the success level (which is normal) - Crafting 10/10 Old School gameplay is giving me an weird feeling of responsiveness and clunkyness, the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well lets start with the fact that only 4.5% of people who has this game have the complete the main quest achievement. Does that mean it's not a good game? Hell no it just means it's not for everyone. I mean, if you're the type that needs your mommy to hold your hand when gaming then I don't get this game, but if you like the freedom these types of games make and actually make you feel you did something in the end and love the old graphics then my friend you are part of the 4.5% club.

Here is highlights from my first two hours, but I fully expect this game to suck up a lot of my time.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_lf6jMHXdc Very well made RPG. I give the game itself a 9/10 and the value at least a 12 out of 10. Fantastic Value and Highly Recommended to every action RPG fan out there!
