Expect consistent audio glitches, L3/R3 buttons not working, and wonky frame rates (which is tied to game speed). Also good luck playing on keyboard, the game doesn't tell you squat about the controls. They added nothing to this port. They couldn't even bother having a JP dub for the ENG release, which sucks cause the ENG dub is kinda garbage. Its a shame cause this game is pretty cool. If you're a fan, purchasing it…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just emulate it. Awful port with botched gamespeed tied to framerate and certain inputs not even being able to detect/register. Game is also tied to DRM for whatever reason, thanks Konami

In order to respond to people, you need to press L3, R3, P or U, and you need to do so before they finish speaking, otherwise the button/key won't work, and it'll just time out. So, if you don't know the speech in the game by heart, that mechanic is broken. Also, it uses Denovo Anti-Tamper, so I assume a mod to fix it is unlikely.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Over the years I've bought and played this game several times on several platforms. There's nothing like it and no other peer or imitator comes close to how refined this feels in its visual style and flow. The work Cygames put into every extra feature and little detail of this remaster makes M∀RS the definitive version of ZOE2 and I wish they could have taken a crack at the original ZOE. It's a shame that many ignorant people place so much emphasis on a very hands off producer of this series,…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You do not need VR to play this game. After years, that one scene can be played without horrendous slowdown and FPS chop.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish steam had a "middle of the road" option - would I recommend this game to some people? Absolutely. Realistically I should put "yes", then, but If I treat the recommend/not recommend as a "did I enjoy/not enjoy this game", then I have to squarely put it to "I did not enjoy this game". If you're on the fence, basically, if you enjoy fast paced anime mecha action and have an afternoon to kill, this game is relatively cheap enough that even if you don't enjoy playing it, you won't feel like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, great music, captivating story and characters-- really short though. To the point; if you're looking at reviews for this in the first place, then you probably won't like it. Zone of The Enders is a nostalgia relic from the PS2 era with a niche established fan base. The gameplay is simple and very much a product of its time. This is really just an opportunity to play the HD Remastered version if you never had a PS3 the first time it came out. Worth noting there is still no Japanese…

Amazing aesthetics, buttery smooth and simple controls, and a non-stop string of bombastic set pieces and amazing stages. Six very well spent hours at the helm of Jehuty.

unlabelledView post →This is what people who have never played mecha games think mecha games are like. I still have no idea what genre this game belongs to. "Combat unlike anything else" is usually marketing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but this time it's actually true. Stylish, fast, skill-based, endlessly replayable. If you're a fan of Metal Gear Solid 2, you'll immediately feel at home. Highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In this game, you pilot a giant robot with a giant robot penis. The cockpit is in said giant robot penis. Kojima is truly a visionary, a gentleman, and a scholar! For people who enjoy retro games (this game is old enough to vote) and/or like giant robots, this is one I can definitely recommend. In short, I would describe ZOE 2 as a watered down Devil May Cry with giant robots. Even though this is a sequel, you absolutely do not need to play the previous game to enjoy this. As you go through…

unlabelledView post →The thing with 2nd Runner is that it IS a good game. I love it to death. The visuals, music, and much of the gameplay has aged terrifically. The problem is that this particular port is busted. L3/R3 controls literally do not work at all in almost all cases, and neither Konami nor Cygames ever bothered to actually fix that. The anime cutscenes, while well directed and slick, look horrendously blurry from their upscaling on this release, too. Plus, as folks have mentioned, the game has speed…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →mechs make me wet
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warning - there's some problems! Combat speed is related to your frame-rate, 144fps is crazy fast, 60fps feels right. Also you might hear audio crackling/buzzing, this is because your audio output needs to be set to 48khz / 24bit or a similar range. I can only play with my headphones unfortunately... The issues aside, this is the best mech game I've ever played and the soundtrack is an absolute banger (liquid jungle dnb amibience vibes - you know that PS1/2/Dreamcast era). It'a shame the port…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They never fixed the audio issues so if you cant set your system for the right hz you cant play without constant audio buzzing and glitches! I love this game but unless they fix the audio issues my review will remain negative
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The series is without a doubt one of my favourite on PS2 and GBA. It's just that the PC conversion is so incredibly shoddy that the game becomes unplayable. You'd be better served playing the original PS2 version. At least you can finish levels there!

unlabelledView post →Game 224: Zone of the Enders - The 2nd Runner Gameplay-wise, ZoE is not as fancy as it may look at first glance. The combat is somewhat basic, with a focus on vertical movement and projectiles. Still, said combat, combined with the slick presentation, is just satisfying enough to be worth playing.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I felt the need to leave a positive review to reward what I feel like are very well thought-out VR features. They aren't perfect, and in fact it's almost more frustrating because of how close it is to being so, but its more than good enough. The inside of the cockpit has been lovingly rendered and you are given an entire field of vision above and around your shoulders that makes keeping track of the action easy. However the best feature, and why I ultimately decided to leave this review, was…

unlabelledView post →This is the worst PC port I have ever seen. The game opens in a small window, with a seemingly unskippable intro video that goes on for around 10 mins before you can get to title screen, let alone the options menu. Oh, wait - you can skip this with "B" but the game doesn't tell you this. Also, the "Menu Button" is also "B" Also, there is no keyboard & mouse support. No mouse options, no list of keybinds, no rebinding, nothing. Which is baffling, as the store page doesn't say K&M are not…

unlabelledView post →Konami set out to simulate High Speed Robot Action like in robot anime. They nailed it and I've loved it ever since childhood. There is nothing that plays like ZOE. Gorgeous machines, art-style, music, vibe and gameplay. It is hard to believe that the sequences that seem incomprehensible to a human brain, are made with absolute player control. This version is also the best version of ZOE2, but playing this PS4 release version on PS5 is the most hassle-free. Fun contemplation: God of War…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the worst port I have ever "played". The 5 minute movie you can't skip before getting to the main menu; The horrendous audio popping, static, etc; The controls aren't mapped, like, at all. It says press "enter" to continue, but they actually mean "tab" or something dumb. I can't even play the game after reinstalling multiple times, verifying files, all that fun stuff. It sucks, because I really loved these games on PS2 growing up, but this port is just a disaster.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredibly underrated PS2 gem (or the least overrated game of all time) The gameplay is impeccable and fluid with a presentation unlike most games back then that makes it age so well. It's a breezy 6 hour ride but very much worth your time, with replay value included. (make sure to turn off vsync btw)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →By far the best way to play this classic game on pc. But ♥♥♥♥ Konami, and ♥♥♥♥ there attempt to turn this barebones port of a PS2 title into spyware (do not accept any TOS, they are not needed to play). As a port it has many graphical upgrades. Draw distance, AA, and that's it... there's not even a major model upgrade despite the two decades since the PS2 release. There aren't even rebindable controls, or original voice options. It is in almost every way, the same game from 2003. But damn was…

unlabelledView post →Remaster of one of the most iconic mecha games. It’s a hack and slash with combat primarily in outer space, the designs of all mechs were made by the same people behind the Metal Gears, and the music features some of the best vocals in the genre. The story is good, but it’s not particularly deep, more of a background for the gameplay and it’s primarily told via ingame dialogues and by the anime style cutscenes, that by the way, integrate perfectly with the art direction. The combo of PS2…

unlabelledView post →This is an amazing(ly good looking) game. However it is a port and super poorly optimized. I had to downgrade my audio to 48k Sampling to stop it from being crackly. It automatically opens Steam VR. There is no Keyboard and Mouse control. I had to connect a controller to even skip the 20 minute intro video (REALLY?!?!?) I would say wait for native control, but considering this came out in 2018, I would not hold your breath. Can't recommend based on PC optimization

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this and the first ZoE on PS2, then replayed them both on the PS3 version, so my playtime on Steam doesn't reflect the amount of hours I've poured into this game (or the series). Love it though. ZoE2 is just good (and the first one is good, too, though more focused on story). Honestly, I've never been into the whole mech thing, but ZoE has been the sole exception, and still remains so to this day. Combat is tight, piloting is tight, maps are tight, but most of all, the music is…
