Zathura: A Space Adventure
After their father is called into work, two young boys, Walter and Danny, are left in the care of their teenage sister, Lisa, and told they must stay inside. Walter and Danny, who anticipate a boring day, are shocked when they begin playing Zathura, a space-themed board game, which they realize has mystical powers when their house is shot into space. With the help of an astronaut, the boys attempt to return home. From TMDB

Clearly "Jumanji in space" (logical, since the two films are adaptations of novels by Chris Van Allsburg), but the absence of Robin Williams makes the difference.

unlabelledView post →Zathura, a film very obviously riffing on the original Jumanji, is very particular in the way it adapts the core premise because it leans into the idea that this is a kids movie, and therefore its protagonists are fundamentally all there to learn a lesson as taught by Zathura.
unlabelledView post →Kevin Feige had said more than once that Zathura is what convinced him to hire Jon Favreau to direct Iron Man. So glad this movie exists for that alone. Also helps that it's just a fun ass movie. John Debney should score a Star Wars movie fr.

unlabelledView post →Zathura is a true-to-life adventure movie, in the way that i would rather die in outer space instead of spend 10 minutes at my dad’s house
unlabelledView post →who else remembers the Zathura movie
unlabelledView post →Instead of making all these horrible Jumanji movies with The Rock and Kevin Hart, they should have continued with what Zathura cooked up. Have every movie be a new type of board game that has different disastrous results each time!

unlabelledView post →Have to take my car to the shop, and then worked, but first, time for a movie! Today's randomly selected movie is... Nice, never seen this. Heard it was loosely connected to Jumanji. Zathura: A Space Adventure, 2005

unlabelledView post →Haven't seen this movie in a long time. #NowWatching Zathura: A Space Adventure (Dir. Jon Favreau, 2005)
unlabelledView post →Zathura is still the best Jumanji movie.
unlabelledView post →What Film would You Love to see a Sequel to? 🎥 🖤 I mean, seeing how Jumanji got legacy sequels (I think that's the term), I don't see why Zathura can't get a similar treatment.
unlabelledView post →Folks, there are two fan posters I am working on and which I plan to release at Spring: Candyland (as a kind of Jumanji/Zathura style film based on the famous family board game) And a live-action retelling of the Don Bluth film, A troll in Central Park.
unlabelledView post →Did you know they made a movie about Zathura
unlabelledView post →you may have insulted my mother but i—an intellectual—hold the movie Zathura in my heart, so you can't hurt me
unlabelledView post →Just watched both Tower heist and Zathura today. Pretty cool movies. I have a lot to say about Zathura tho. Tower heist is pretty fun and a neat heist movie. Eddie Murphy carries it. Also, a young Michael Peña is cool too. I’ll probably rewatch it in the future.
unlabelledView post →What movie did you watch over and over again as a kid? Zathura > Jumanji

unlabelledView post →Two for the price of one: The Rocketeer (1991), $46m box office & Zathura (2005), $58m box office. #filmsky
unlabelledView post →Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005) I think this was BEFORE I actually saw Jumanji, which was it's predecessor both in film and in literature (and oddly enough in-universe in the books).

unlabelledView post →ZATHURA IS AN EXCELLENT ENTRY POINT MOVIE TO GET YOUR KIDS INTO SCI-FI. AND ITS DIRECTED BY JON FAVREAU. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
unlabelledView post →movie stars only seem to promote their upcoming movies, and that's bad bad not good. this is why I will be going on David letterman to promote Zathura, an underrated gem!
unlabelledView post →The books otherwise aren’t very notable and Zathura is a much worse movie than Jumanji (albeit better than the Rock sequels).
unlabelledView post →Film you’ve watched more than six times with a gif If you haven't seen Zathura you're missing out big time
unlabelledView post →A childhood favorite movie of mine was Zathura. It was kind of ominous to me too like the scene of the sister being frozen and the danger of the robot. That was a cool robot.
unlabelledView post →There is only 1 Jumanji movie. Oh, and there's also Zathura.
unlabelledView post →I'd also love to have the original prop Zathura board game from its movie too (I've got to be one of the dozens of genuine nostalgic fans for that film).

unlabelledView post →Zathura, the sequel to Jumanji, is an underrated movie. Wish I'd heard of it back in 2005! Iconic cast just before they got big (Kirsten Stewart, Josh Hutchinson, Dax Shepard) and fun practical effects.
unlabelledView post →Drawings I made based on scenes from Zathura, inspired by a Tumblr post. That was when the cast of the first movie was announced. #FNAF #FiveNightsAtFreddys #MichaelAfton
unlabelledView post →Scott Glenn played Alan Shepard in The Right Stuff, and Dax Shepard played “The Astronaut” in the 2005 film Zathura: A Space Adventure. Close enough for Hollywood. ... 7/8
unlabelledView post →Wow, never thought I’d see Zathura mentioned on here. Major movie from my childhood.
unlabelledView post →Get in line toots, that's my man you're talking about. Did YOU see the first Hunger Games movie 5 times in the first week of it being in theatres? Were Zathura and Bridge to Terabithia on loop in your household growing up?? Josh and I have been destined to be together for ages
unlabelledView post →Zathura has to count. The author of the OG Jumanji book wrote Zathura as a direct sequel to Jumanji. I think that aspect is not present in the film, but Zathura is a Jumanji.
unlabelledView post →It took them 3 movies to do actually Jumanji... Also, of we count Zathura, this is the 5th movie
unlabelledView post →I really loved this movie. A great and deep sci-fi story combined with family. The cast was great in the movie. Last but not least, Jon Farveau directed it wonderfully. I hope Zathura comes back to the screen again and does a crossover with Jumanji.

unlabelledView post →I think that would be basically the real boardgame they made for Zathura. My kids always wanted to play it because they loved the movie but they would always forget how terrible the actual gameplay was and someone would quit crying. Possibly even me.
unlabelledView post →Kinda sounds like that old movie Zathura 🤔
unlabelledView post →Watched Zathura for our family movie night. Very fun. The kids loved it. In case you don't know, it's essentially Jumanji in space.
unlabelledView post →ZATHURA!!!! I never see anyone talk about that movie, but I loved it so much as a kid!
unlabelledView post →i really loved it growing up, but i guess they are very similar 😭 if anything Zathura just felt a little more recent and new while Jumanji was already an “older” movie by the time i watched it
unlabelledView post →I remember that too, its a very underrated movie. We used to have both Jumanji and Zathura on DVD, but at some point sold them during the 2010s
unlabelledView post →I liked the "second Jumanji movie" the first time, it was called Zathura
unlabelledView post →It was many years ago, thankfully... And I don't remember the movie I was talking about... But Zathura does rock
unlabelledView post →Idk what The Invisible Boy is but the movie is Zathura. An underrated favorite from my childhood.
unlabelledView post →Watching Zathura made me remember there was a time before being a child actor required talent. Phenomenal movie and I'd want 0 changes.
