You Will Die Here Tonight One of the most slept-on horror gems by far, this is a wildly inventive game that has a lot of fun with tropes of the genre, playfully incorporating elements of Resident Evil and House of the Dead when combat switches to a first-person affair. It's an absolute steal!

Gets into meta/parody territory, but it specifically has the top down explore/first person combat system from Resident Evil Gaiden. store.steampowered.com/app/1446350/...

unlabelledView post →I didn't like this game at first, but after getting the full feel of it and completing the achievements I nearly came to love it. The thing is, it's pretty rough around the edges. Just beating it on normal difficulty is not hard at all. It's like an indie Resident Evil with a meta story and game play. There's roguelike elements, but no random element and no limit to saving so there's always a way forward if you're careful. Your characters are kind of like expendable pawns in an experiment,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You Will Die Here Tonight is kinda inspired by the Gameboy Resident Evil, it's got a top down perspective and switches to a sort of House of the Dead arcade shooter style first person combat, it's incredible clever and hugely underrated, real hidden gem store.steampowered.com/app/1446350/...
unlabelledView post →You Will Die Here Tonight is basically "What if Resident Evil: Gaiden was actually good and had a ton of replayability" Casey is spot on, underrated gem.
unlabelledView post →1. You Will Die Here Tonight Honest to goodness, one of the most underappreciated and novel twists on the survival horror genre, it sorta blends elements of both Resident Evil and House of the Dead, and even I've heard it compared to Resident Evil Gaiden store.steampowered.com/app/1446350/...
unlabelledView post →Lots of cool stuff in here! I'd especially recommend both Evil Within games (good experiments with the RE4 formula), You Will Die Here Tonight (spiritual successor to Resident Evil Gaiden) and Berserk Boy (Mega Man Zero-ish) and Metal Garden (short Blame!-inspired shooter with amazing environments).

You Will Die Here Tonight Very neat and seriously underrated Survival Horror that blends elements of Resident Evil and House of the Dead where the top-down shifts to first person combat, and has a hell of a lot of fun playing with the tropes of the genre. store.steampowered.com/app/1446350/...

unlabelledView post →A cool concept marred by poor execution. While I wouldn't dissuade those interested by a rougelite RE1 experience, I certainly didn't enjoy it. The mansion and surrounding areas are pretty drab and boring, nothing really memorable. The characters are a bitttt too much for me in terms of the humor department. The portraits were fine enough, I don't even remember if the game had any music. Puzzles are either really obtuse or extremely simple, with a couple that I did enjoy (stuffed heads on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing You Will Die Here Tonight. Very cute homage to the original Resident Evil with a healthy dose of RE Gaiden (GBC) and a little pinch of Sweet Home (NES). Definitely worth a peep if you're a fan of the classic survival horror games and perfect for Steam Deck.
unlabelledView post →The coolest thing this game has going for it is a character swapping mechanic. When you get yourself killed, you spawn a new character, each with small unique traits. The most noticeable of which will be the run speed, though I wager the slower characters have more health if not other invisible stats. A dual edged sword, while it's cool having this team of people working together to solve the manor, if you find a weapon upgrade, only the weapons expert can install it, and the only way to swap…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You Will Die Here Tonight (Steam) At first, I thought the permadeath mechanic would make this too hard, but it's pretty reasonable on normal with the limited continue items. Swapping from 2D to 3D RE Gaiden combat is such a cool move too! RE fans will find a lot to love in this sincere love letter
unlabelledView post →You Will Die Here Tonight is a huge tribute to that most maligned of spinoffs - Resident Evil Gaiden. Overhead survival horror with first-person action-RPG battle sequences. My only complaint was that it's a bit short... but it got a huge update adding a remixed Arrange Mode campaign, so fixed!
unlabelledView post →On the surface this game has everything going for it: - Oldschool survival horror gameplay * (more on that later...) - Great retro graphics - Interesting and innovative combat mechanics and roguelike aspects - Good puzzles and exploration But sadly I still have to give this game a negative rating (would be neutral if Steam would allow it). In the first 2 hours I was truly impressed by the game. Then you start to realize that the game has cheap deaths...which is okay because...well "You Will…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a cool idea, but not great execution. The survival horror side isn't very good, and the Until-Dawn Choices-Matter side isn't great either, so its just a slight novelty with not much substance. For survival horror, combat is not good, just repetitive and annoying, but i like the combat camera, its a cool stylistic choice. On the default difficulty you have too much ammo and the whole "either run or fight" thing isn't really much of a choice, they are usually in your way or run straight up…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs took Resident Evil Gaiden's combat and actually made it good? Absolute mad men!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →YWDHT is an interesting take on the classic RE-style Survival Horror formula that has left me utterly intrigued but also disappointed in some ways. Let me just say: What is here is phenomenal. I loved the gameplay, puzzles, design of the Mansion and figuring out all of the secrets this game holds (inside and outside the Mansion). I whole-heartedly recommend that if you like Resident Evil, that you just buy this game. Although it is a short 3-4 hours, it is the perfect length for a game such…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ooh, a nice little Halloween bonus - last year's heavily undersold You Will Die Here Tonight (basically a huge tribute to Resident Evil Gaiden, with first-person combat and a story that reacts to squad deaths) got an anniversary update with a remixed Hard mode store.steampowered.com/news/app/144...
unlabelledView post →Turns out you actually can really, really love Resident Evil but not this. While it is built on some unique gameplay ideas it ended up feeling shallow and not fun enough for me to want to suffer through another loop after reaching the bad ending. As other players have noted, the game is brutally difficult until you figure out you can infinitely resupply ammo by running back to the box, which replaces all of the difficulty with tedium and feels very much against the spirit of old-school RE.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished up You Will Die Here Tonight- and holy hell, if you want an amazing love letter to Resident Evil Gaiden (and the whole series really) that just takes itself seriously enough with minor roguelike elements (think Song of Horror), this game is absolutely one to grab ASAP
unlabelledView post →What the Hell? Resident Evil homage with House of the Dead gunplay, its an interesting mix. There are two problems with the game, one minor, one confusing. The small problem has to do with ammunition. Technically, you have infinite reserves. If you're ever low, just go back to base and restock. The reality of this is that, because there are so many enemies, you are constantly going back and forth between supply points to refill your ammunition. It makes the pacing tedious and stupid. Resident…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You Will Die Here Tonight ($13.99) - a Resident Evil inspired horror game, but more particularly... feels inspired by the *handheld* Resident Evils. "What If Resident Evil Gaiden, but Good", to put it one way. here, death is just the beginning. store.steampowered.com/app/1446350/...
unlabelledView post →Looks like a fun homage to Resident Evil 1, plays like a fun Homage to Resident Evil Gaiden, written like the most rancid cringe comedy imaginable. The best part is, if you mash the button to get rid of text as fast as possible, the game can freeze and you'll have to exit out and replay parts of it... Yay? And for some reason, for the final section of the game you are basically made invincible. It doesn't feel like a power fantasy, but instead as if you'd used a cheat code.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's very unique, but the juice isn't really worth the squeeze.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun and fresh, didn't just feel like pure homage unlike other reviews say. Can be frustrating and the true ending was dogsh*t

unlabelledView post →its a neat idea to have a "spoiler" style RE game. but i cannot stomach the way combat flows. its directly punishes you unfairly in various ways that are really stupid. i really hate that this game in its whole revolves around meta knowladg ruined the experience among the garbage combat controls
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool idea but it gets boring quickly [Eng and Pt-Br reveiw] Consider this review neutral, but since I have to choose, I'll go with a negative one. This game is quite interesting; the idea is certainly very good! But my problem with it is that after 15 minutes of gameplay, you've already seen everything it has to offer. While the idea of mixing survival horror with an on-rails shooter is good, this game is neither a good survival horror nor a good on-rails shooter. Both parts end up being…

So, you’ve decided to enter a house full of creepy, lurking monsters and jump scares that will make your cat think you're in mortal danger. You will die here tonight. And honestly, that’s the point. The Plot: Imagine this: You’re at a mansion. A creepy, creepy mansion where everything seems perfectly normal…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really really wanted to like this game. When I saw the trailer for it. I was all in. I actually loved the demo and bought the game because of the demo. I was hoping this game was going to be a PC equivalent to Resident Evil Gaiden. The gameplay in the demo felt more like a good equivalent to REG but that's not what we got in the final game. The devs made bad changes to the final game and I don't understand why? Overall short review: Good visuals and audio with good ideas for gameplay…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Today I Played: You Will Die Here Tonight Top down horror game with a first person twist when you enter combat, the game's camera shifts to a first person battle sequence. It's inspired by RE1 and maybe a little too heavily so at times, but still fun. #indiegames #horror s.team/a/1446350

unlabelledView post →I think this game is way too short and the content is repetitive to the point that I can't recommend it at full price, however, I do think it's worth trying when it's heavily discounted (if you like similar games). I got 2.5 hours of playtime before it reached a point in the story when you have to repeat the entire middle - and worst part IMO - of the game across three separate characters . I think it's OK if you manage to get it during a decent sale.
