Yollen
Developer axilirate
Before Megaloot, there was Yollen - a brutally minimalist game by solo dev axilirate. Your peaceful life is gone. Now it’s all about the grind. Climb every skill tree, master every craft, and turn the grind into pure payback. From the Steam store page

60 of 68 · most liked firstIt has lots of problems, and they're obviously due to balance/progression issues that were never addressed as there was no testing phase. I'm sure the developer skipped it completely. How do I know? I'll give you a couple of examples: 1. Cooking and gathering are separate skills. You can cook a red mushroom at 15 Cooking skill level. Guess what Gathering level do you need to gather them in the first place? 75. Yep, you read it right. You need lvl 75 Gathering skill to cook something that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game definitely has potential, but unfortunately is quite disappointing. The progression does not seem thought / tested at all, it's not clear to me what's even the intended order to do things to progress. You frequently get stuck without an obvious way to progress other than grinding out like 20+ levels. Woodcutting has no upgrade until 25. Mining has no upgrade past iron until 25. Smithing requires you to either make iron bars or steel bars, but steel bars are only used to craft…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Need to increase inventory space. Far too limited and really sucks that you can continue to harvest with a full inventory and get no reward. Still enjoy the game just needs some more QOL and more interactions would be nice as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my second attempt at writing a review for this game, This game is not a good game, there are some positive reviews for this game, but they all imagine a world where updates fix the many many problems. I happen to think these problems are so in-bedded in the design of this game that there is no chance it'll ever be patched into fun state, even when played entirely idle in the background, even for 4 dollars. If that's all you needed to hear, save your money and move on. For everyone…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yollen This #idlegame is a bit grindy. But that's the point. Make number go up. And up. And up. And get a different number, and make it go up. I find it fun, but it's probably not for everyone. Luckily, you can give the demo a try and see how you like it! #indiedev #indiegame #gamedev

Yollen offers a pretty relaxed and simple experience, what you see is what you get, no prestige, no deep mechanics and no min-maxing. To me this is a positive, but I understand if you want to get more engagement out of a paid game, even if it's relatively cheap. There's isn't a whole lot to do, and progression is sluggishly slow despite the limited content. Again, for me this isn't a negative, I would like to believe that it's a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd like to preface this by saying my hours are incorrect as I played most of the time "offline steam" on my steam deck while playing other games for obvious reasons. I really do want to give this a positive rating and I think possibly in the future it could easily be one. With that being said I think the incrementality of this game is fundamentally flawed or perhaps they just have ideas that seem unappealing to me personally. Generally speaking in incremental games you will slowly level,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game, I gave it a serious shot, but I feel like after 100 hours I have seen and unlocked 90+% of the things this game has to show, and yet I can already tell that it would take another 300-400 hours to complete. And those hours are not simply hours where you can just leave the game running. Any task can only be ran idly for 30 mins to an hour maximum due to the extremely limited inventory space and tiny item durability. The best weapon will last about 10 minutes of combat, and you can only…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't like to give a negative review but I feel like I have to because otherwise people might put lots of time in like me only to find it doesn't work. At the moment it seems like the game can't actually be completed. At a pretty early point you don't have enough HP to fight an enemy and there doesn't seem to be any way to resolve that no matter how far you go. The only item I could find in the in game wiki that increases max health drops from a monster you don't have the health to fight.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is simply a humdrum slog. The dev seems to be addressing minor QoL and balancing issues, so I will not focus on those, however, the core gameplay loop just isn't fun, and will require a massive overhaul to fix. The content in the game varies very barely, making it extremely monotonous, there is very little meaningful progression of your character, and some skills take forever to level up to unlock the next thing that works the same as everything else in the skill just with a different…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will recommend this game because I don't want to hurt it's rating, but boy its got some issues. This game has a lot of potential, but I think there is a fine line between a simple grindy game and a completely hopeless cause. In the later stages of progression this game becomes borderline impossible to progress. A great example is the lack of an upgraded axe. The axe you need to cut down trees has poor durability and it leads to needing potentially hundreds of axes to progress to the next type…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I stole 3 gold coins from a villager. And in the game too:D This is a clicker/simulator where you need to loot and develop. Initially, the gameplay is not particularly dynamic, we kill snakes, eat berries from the bush, and steal money from villagers. But gradually new actions and activities open up: we catch fish, mine ore, and overall level up the character much faster. The most difficult part is understanding at first - which stats are responsible for what. The game lacks a bit of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not good. As the negative reviews say, this is a slog but isnt balanced at all. If it had more connections across the crafting paths, it would be much better. Currently you have to just wait for several hours to level things up to unlock the next progression step. Very little opportunity to be strategic and play "smart".
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah no, this game is just a slog with next to no satisfaction. Everything feels slow and meaningless (leveling up, getting unlocks, the time actions take to complete). Absolutely abysmal gameplay loop.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thief Simulator 3 looks fantastic
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game, but there isn't much to do. So I played through it really quickly!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a game that does not need interaction except to change from one tech tree to the next. takes to long to research anything and the game drags on. unfortunately not the sort of game i tend to play
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels like one of those games you open for 10 minutes and then it's opened for hours while you do other stuff doing back and fourth
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This looks way simpler than it actually is. Super chill at first, then suddenly you’re deep in builds, crafting, and optimization, good tho
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This yollen is a cheap enjoyable grindy game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If You Like Idle Game ♥ Just get it, trust me, it's worth it. ♥ ------ The game is very relaxing and nice to leave on in the background although, i personally keep the music and sound off since i'm usually playing other games or watching shows over it. But it does feature a offline feature too in case you don't want to leave it running. You'll either like the simplistic design or you wont, the inventory can be a bit of a problem but since the games new, the dev is working on it and releasing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very nice idle game to keep running on your second monitor while you go about your deity duties
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think this game could be fun for a very niche person. I usually am that very niche person, but in this case, almost everything about this game is just very frustrating. you're basically robbing Peter to pay Paul for every single aspect of the game. Essentially to do one thing you have to backtrack and do several other things first then when youre trying to do the other things you find out you have to do other things to do those other things.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its okay, takes a bit long to complete tho...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Inventory management game. You have to do achievements in the game in order to unlock more inventory space. Even when you do all the achievements there's still not enough room. To do anything in the game you have to have a TON of energy/health food items. I've gone through several thousands of food items and it all vanishes rapidly without accomplishing much. Yet you need it to do anything. Also when you gather those thousands of food items, you have to use them immediately too because now your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is complete rubbish, honestly. the dev clearly threw this together quickly and barely tested, charging money for this is criminal.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yollen is a minimalist indie RPG developed and published by axilirate that places long-term progression, interconnected systems, and deliberate pacing at the center of its design. Rather than relying on cinematic storytelling or visually extravagant presentation, the game focuses on the slow transformation of a fragile character into a capable survivor through persistent effort and system mastery. From the outset, Yollen makes it clear that it is a game about accumulation, optimization, and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nah, it's a torture even to have it idle while doing smth. Idea's good, but realisation is awful. The process is too monotonous
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →usually i like these kind of games, but this one is pretty rough. very time demanding and i don't think the inventory managing makes a lot of sense. i'm kinda dragging it just because i've already spent too much time and it would be sad if i didn't 100% it, but i kinda hate every moment that i look at it and the task is not ready yet.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →kind of grind that actually feels good
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →minimalist, grindy, weirdly satisfying
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There’s something really addictive about games that make every little upgrade feel meaningful
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →no fluff, just progression, crafting and that satisfying sense of getting stronger, it's an ok idle
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yollen Review I want to give this game a positive rating. The game in its current state is decent, but there needs to be some quality of life fixes in order for this game and it’s reviews to change from a negative/mixed into positive. I bought this game while on sale for a dollar or two and for that price for the amount of time I put into this minimalist incremental inventory management game can be fun. But after those three or four hours, the problems of this small game began to arise.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perfect game for a second monitor. I'm stealing from villagers all day today while doing my work
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old school runescape the idle game with NES graphics. A bit rough around the edges, but at that level I don't mind buying a beer to a solo dev for a hobby project turned steam game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little background game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok for what it is. Basically a faster basic melvor idle. I personally prefer idlers that lasts infinitely, this one has a couple of days of playtime, you also have to be active as you can only idle one stat at 5 minutes at a time or so due to crazy inventory management. Worth the price, wouldn't have reccomended if it cost any more though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ye i am so confused this might be the worst game i ever played like progression is so slow and its not like u can afk it so that means there should be a way to progress faster but unless i am missing something since the game literally doesnt explain anything the game is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ grindy like wtf
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely micromanagement heavy and imbalanced for an idler
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hmmm... I usually like Autobattlers way more but this one works.. I mean we need more IDLERS on steam... BYE
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My only complaint is the fact that "achievements" unlocking more inventory space ONCE YOU CLAIM IT is not properly conveyed to the player (?) so I played for a while with unclaimed inventory, creating some completely unnecessary frustration and several potential "quit-moments". Otherwise this game is amazing and awesome of what it sets out to be with ample potential for min/maxing strategic planning for satisfying results while "mistakes" are not not punishing and "bricking" is impossible.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The grind on this is just too high while the systems are not interconected enough or balanced well with each other. The game wants to be Melvor idle and its just not.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In its current state I just cannot recommend it. The game has promise, I like the concept but the execution is just not great. Aside from bugs you will encounter, your progress is severely limited by 2 factors pretty core to the game: inventory space and levels. Very little can be done without annoying grinds and switching skills. From picking berries to going into combat to having those 700+ berries you farmed over an hour to only last you about 10 fights at best is pretty brutal. I won't go…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting so far, but 11/10, if your s/o or wife is a nurse and has worked in the ICU this apparently will make them tweak out it's the level up sound is the sound of a ventilator going over-pressure. Would purchase again just for this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If it was twice as fast it still wouldn't be fast enough. It's a grind and nothing else. I actually kind of like it, hence my playtime but I can't recommend it as is. It seems like an idle game, but you can't idle much. A lot of the grind requires resources that deplete and require you to switch tasks. You can often set up a long idle grind, but even that takes a lot of time. Some resource loops are fine, they just take too long. I'd say the biggest issue is the leveling of skills. It's super…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay I stand corrected this game actually has offline progress. This game may have some value for people with 2 screens, but I'm a 1 big screen andy so ...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →New update is reaaaaly nice, recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a decent incremental game. It's not a masterpiece or smth, but it's good to spend some time in
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like it, it's minimalistic and pretty deep to satisfyingly grind levels from time to time
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boss... Im tired
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fine little idle game for serious businessmen
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I read the reviews before the update and can claim that now the game is really a good one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels like a quiet project of love. The art is simple, the pacing is deliberate, and it doesn’t try to overload you with layers of mechanics. It’s a small, cozy grind that feels strangely honest.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I see how devs are passioned about it and thankful they fixed and add content to make it more fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth the grind
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good job on the game axilirate!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has been updated and feels is more of a full game now. __________ I wish I could recommend but in the games current state it feels like it should be in early access.
