It’s crazy how great titles like this fly under the radar This one brings some genuinely fresh ideas to the table you manage your defenses by building turrets, fighting off enemies yourself, and collecting parts from destroyed foes. The catch is that you can’t do everything at once, so you’re constantly deciding whether to keep fighting or gather resources to expand your defenses. There’s also a surprisingly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too little variety, to much self-involvement. The towers are extremely worthless and everything depends on you to just hold down left mouse button and fiddle around wasd. Shouldn't really be called a Tower Defense.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →X-Morph: Defense is a fantastic tower-defense game that successfully mixes traditional tower defense with direct action. The combination works extremely well, with beautiful visuals, and an impressive number of possible defensive routes. The game becomes even more enjoyable in co-op. A real hidden gem. 100% steam achievements Time : 57.6H Completion Difficulty : 6/10 Playthroughs : 1 + several mission replays Missables : None Online Requirements : Yes Notable requirements : Complete the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game looks awesome, sounds good, has a cool premise and the controls are precise and feel good. And the first missions are really fun but then the game becomes repetitive. There is barely any progress regarding your weapons and towers and while it is fun to bomb enemy tanks, that is most what you do from mission 2 onwards. The game adds new challenges by introducing new enemy types but the gameplay very much stays the same. Place towers so the enemy has to drive a longer way to your base…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is straight-up sci-fi carnage with a plan. You’re not defending Earth from aliens you are the aliens. And not just any aliens. You’re high-tech, shape shifting, pew-pew-zapping, tactical geniuses who showed up to strip the planet for resources and blow up anyone who says otherwise. Tower Defense + Twin-Stick Shooter You’re not just building towers and hoping for the best you’re flying your own ship around the battlefield, actively blasting tanks, jets, and entire battalions to pieces…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m a very careful person when it comes to buying games. Every purchase I make has a purpose and an intention, especially considering the amount of time I have available to play. After doing some research and buying the game, I found after just one hour of playing that X-Morph: Defense is a solid game, and I know I’ll play it until I finish it. I took advantage of the sale and bought the complete game, including all the DLC, for less than $5. It has been the best purchase I’ve made in years.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the game but multiple times I have had the game bug out. Currently I am doing the story mode and only at the 3rd country and wave 4 keeps bugging to wear it won't spawn the last enemies which is preventing me from completing the wave and moving on. I'd like to play the rest of the campaign but cannot due to this issue.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →played the first mission and was overwhelmed with such delightfully inspired peak that i had no choice but to recommend it. great game. there's a demo too. play it yourself. i wouldn't dare spoil a thing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The latter stages rely increasingly on yourself as a damage dealer instead of the towers you defend your base with. That's not exactly what I look for in a tower defense game. It gets to a point at which damage to the core seems impossible to avoid if you don't control flawesly your ship, strategy be damned. If the developers wanted to make an arcade shooter, why not just make one? Also, for some reason I had towers bug out and start jittering, making them unable to be upgraded, moved, or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →X-Morph: Defense is a genre bending game that combines tower defense strategy with twin stick shooter action. The game uses the setting of a typical alien invasion with you in the role of the invaders. You are part of the X-Morph, a hivemind of artificial intelligences. The X-Morph are constantly on the search for more resources and energy to expand their reach and this time their target is earth. Your job is to protect various cores around the planet that will ensure that the harvesting of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →X-Morph: Defense is probably one of the best Tower Defense games that I played, though I'm not really big on the genre, therefore I doubt I'll play it anymore as my backlog of games is enormous and I'm trying to clear it out one game at a time. I understand the core mechanics of what a solid tower defense game has to have, and this one actually have a nice twist to it, where you are also controlling one of the killing instruments - an alien airship capable of blowing everything to ♥♥♥♥. It's a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →X-Morph: Defense - 100% Completion Review Score: 8/10 X-Morph: Defense is a Tower Builder, Bullet Hell and Isometric Shooter all in one, you play as a X-Morph a alien who's sole mission is to the defend the core, a machine designed to rip Earths resources away and destroy the forces of humanity who is throwing everything they have to stop you, after fully completing the game i'll give some pro's, neutrals and cons. PRO'S: -Good effects and explosions with tons of particle effects, visually a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hit and Miss It's not really a TD and it's not really a bullet-hell vertical scroller. And unfortunately most games in either of these genres are vastly better options than this one. The path-carving gameplay element is just tedious. Also while the graphics are not bad for a 2017 game, the screen is too busy at all times. Gameplay 4/10 Aesthetic & GFX 6/10 Music & SFX 6/10 Time Played 3hrs Final Score: 4/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blending twin-stick shooting with tower defense strategy makes for a surprisingly tactical alien invasion simulator. Managing your maze of towers while actively dogfighting human forces keeps you on your toes, though the pacing can drag during longer waves. Fully destructible environments make flattening entire cities to stop humanity quite satisfying, flaws and all.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →X-Morph: Defense is about aliens invading and how best to spread yourself thin. Played for a good 8.1 hours before putting it down, getting through most of the missions using a keyboard and mouse. Difficulty can be set in game (I played on Easy). I went into this with all the DLC, probably because it was part of a humble bundle or gifted to me. This right here is a good tower defense strat game. You play as the aliens. The music has a Pacific Rim edge to it, if you can figure out how to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →X-Morph: Defense, developed and published by EXOR Studios, is a rare example of a genre hybrid that feels genuinely cohesive rather than experimental for its own sake. By merging tower defense strategy with twin-stick shooter mechanics, it creates a gameplay loop where planning and execution are inseparable. Instead of placing defenses and watching events unfold from a distance, players are constantly involved in the action, shifting between careful preparation and real-time combat in a way…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No support from any devs. Windows 11 through steam does not launch the game for me. Reinstalling, Clearing registry, installing to other drives, Nothing works it simply does not launch. It has been reported on discord, email, discussions it appears that this game is abandoned by EXOR as they are more focused upon their RIFTBREAKER game. Does not seem interested in any support to the player base in the slightest. If you have windows XP or VISTA it may work for you =) Good luck and have fun as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Standard tower defense games are a bit humdrum for my tastes these days, but I do enjoy the maze-building and strategy of tower selection and placement. Enter X-Morph Defense, which adds (as many have) some active realtime combat to occur during the waves. I really enjoyed the game. The main thing that stood out to me is how well-justified the mazes are considering a realistic environment and enemies. Some contrivance is to be expected in such a contrived genre, but this game's level design,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →#VideoGameBacklog "X-Morph: Defense" (PC, 2017) is a tower defense game but you also control a highly maneuverable alien craft. Building/strategy and attack waves are separate, but you fight & can build during the wave. Art is pretty good and, overall, it's a fun take on the genre. #indiegames
unlabelledView post →So full of bugs couldn't play co-op past the first mission. NOT a online co-op title!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had potential but then got really obnoxious in the second mission. Loved Riftbreaker, love tower defense games..... this just doesn't feel great. In the second mission, the area of operation kept opening more and more. That is fine and all for later missions but the second mission? Did we really need to expand the area of operation twice? The towers themselves don't do the greatest amount of damage and I can't upgrade them on mission two on top of the fact resources to build towers or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun tower defense game, you play as aliens vs humanity, reminds me of halo wars 2 in a way
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is pretty impressive, and given how well it suits the Steam Deck, even someone like me, who's not into tower defense genre can spend a lot of time. Level design is smart, and difficulty also rises at a reasonable pace as you progress through levels.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →X-Morph: Defense is simply outstanding and, in my opinion, the best tower defense game on Steam, surpassing even classics like Defense Grid 2 and the Kingdom Rush series. What makes it so great is the perfect blend of tower power and player control. It masterfully fuses the mechanics of a traditional tower defense with a high-octane, top-down shoot 'em up (or "shmup"). The ability to actively fly around as the X-Morph core and directly engage the enemy forces adds an unparalleled layer of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great compact tower defence game with a slightly unique take on the genre
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and rather hectic. Normal dificulty felt challenging enough for me and the game becomes easier when you learn how to move turrents around and create choke points with the laser barriers and toppled buildings. Overall, fun game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just replayed this on the Switch and it's truely a hidden gem of the genre, if a bit hectic at times.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I gave it a honest try, the core gameplay is just not fun, you very slowly unlock new tower types as your gunship you control do most of the work. even when you unlock all the abilities for your ship its the same two laser and missile strikes and charged up laser/ground bomb. Enemy variety is actually very good, and the game has a lot of potential, but sadly its just so boring as there isn't much exciting going on as apart from different enemy types (that you attack in the same exact way as the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A friend asked me to try this out. I love it. This is a new take on the tower defense genre that I haven't experienced. In addition to the towers defense style, you control an aerial unit that is responsible for building and harvesting resources throughout your play through. Dodge between bullets and missiles of all variety. The story-line is pretty good so far too with several upgrades to towers and weapons that you can select as you advance through the story. I started playing to see how it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent tower defence game, some parts of it aren't clear at the onset but you can quickly figure them out. The pathing mechanic makes the game fun; however, the fixed perspective can make parts unnecessarily difficult.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →REALLY PISSED OF WITH THE FACT YOU SAY ITS COOP BUT IT IS NOT! its just some lame screen sharing that only works if another player has a control, how stupid and a scam to get gamers to buy it for coop friend play to find out you cannot do network coop
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WARNING! there are lots of explosions in this game. don't play if you don't like explosions.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not a true tower defense game. The towers are essentially useless. You are required to fly around and shoot the enemies.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whelp... didn't expect this quality on the game, was expecting plain old tower defense, but it was a proper tower defense as the baddie with voice acting and friends leaderboard, so was quite nice. There some some fun destruction stuff! Did I die from it and hated myself every time I did ? Yes.. yes I did.. Did I still like that they added it, yes.. yes I did as well! Depending on what Difficulity you are playing, but even on normal, the final mission is quite a difficulity spike. But...…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels like a streamline version of Command and Conquer and Desert Strike without the boring parts
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can build the greatest defense in the game, yet I still can't defend myself from all the voices in my head that insist me that I should just km/s. 0/10 fml
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The moment I see AA busting those jet pack scums I know it's peak, that was surprisingly satisfying xD So glad I played Riftbreaker, otherwise I might just miss this game. Pretty good classic td, reminds me of goodies like Gemcraft, Defense Grid and WC3 custom maps.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Prepare your consciousness for this epic game! This game is a great mix of top down strategy and tower defence. Where you strategize, before each wave of enemy reinforcments and use your enviroments to your advantage. I love the fact that you play as the villian and not the humans, It's a breath of fresh air!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid arcade shooter + TD
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love it. I can see how it influenced Rift Breaker. Great game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →W3 maze TD defense with Cabal narrator. Worth
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another banger by EXOR Studios. I keep hoping to see another game by them soon.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →need a sequel for this so bad
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game was ok. it was a long time ago and dont remember it at all.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game has such a bad UI i physically cant get it to actually play on my monitor, the buttons wont work when i press at all and does not work in the slightest with a second monitor
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doesn't deserve to be "Very Positive", or £16, as it is right now (May '26) Screw the Steam rating system!!!! I'd have recommended it as "Mostly Positive"/£5 and under. 5/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This games vibes are imaculate, if i found this game when i was younger it would definatly be in my top 10 love a good tower defence that keeps you on your toes and iterating on your deffences.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No longer playable on windows 11, game crashes and is very laggy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the best tower defense games out there. It's rather well balanced and you have the choice to play as you want really. If you're going for the 100%, sure you have to play on the harder game modes, but if you want to do a casual play, you also can. it's not that complicated and it's fun to figure out the best layout and towers to keep the humans away. I always forget you guys also made the riftbreaker. but i love that you put a reference to this game there too. time…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Towers/turrets look like the same Stupid AI, dont attack enemies those are closest base
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Compared to its predecessor Zombie Driver, this game introduces impressive building destruction effects that make combat scenes far more explosive and thrilling. In addition to constructing mazes to redirect enemy paths, freely reposition defense towers and switch their types at any time, a ship with four distinct weapon modes adds even more variety and fun to the gameplay, delivering an incredibly satisfying and exhilarating combat experience. Both the storyline and the art style excel at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is awesome. Great tower defense with a lot of gameplay about making long winding paths. Great shooting and blowing up tanks, etc. with your alien fighter jet. Fun alien invasion and story. The DLC gets a bit annoying but base game is good fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get it on sale for less than $5 and it is alright. A bit shallow and the maps designs could use some work. Tedious. If the interface was not so buggy and more fluid it might be interesting. But tedious.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I run two monitors, and it runs fine. No idea what the others are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about just fix it it's really not hard, Alt+enter to make it not fullscreen then do it again on the right monitor??? Amazing game though for the Tower Defence style, good fun and playing as the villian is even better >:3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game but has the same problem as riftbreaker in that it always starts on my secondardy screen. Contrary to thier other game this one doesn't like to be moved to the main screen and crashes. Must be something wrong with their engine....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish there were more upgrades.. the game was meh..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A super fun tower defense game where you can control enemy paths how you like them to be. It's a hybrid puzzle game as you take an active role, and take up a more offensive role with a movable ship as you gather resources from destroyed enemies to really build up your base.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really nice top down Tower Defense game. It has a beautiful user interface (wish windows was like that), a custom mouse pointer, a custom font that all fit the atmosphere. You are a alien intelligence, your goal is to conquer earth. The voice acting is well done by professional american voice actors. This game has a strong 90s action movie flair. If you like games like Just Cause 3 for the fun destruction aspect, you will like this game. You get to destroy a lot of cities while…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its everything I wanted and more. If you like Tower defense games, get it. only thing I wish it had was online multiplayer. At least rift breaker has it now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game! please add co-op game mode
