Like, yeah, the heroic avatar of chaotic good gets their own in-universe theme music. Fits.

To run WRATH: Aeon of Ruin without the Fulqrum Launcher, you can bypass it by setting a custom launch option: 1. Open your Steam Library. 2. Right-click WRATH: Aeon of Ruin and select Properties. 3. In the General tab, find the Launch Options field. 4. Enter the path to the game’s executable followed by `%command%`. For…

You can skip the launcher if you use wrath.exe, wrath-sdl.exe and wrath-steam.exe in the install folder. if thats annoying then you can go to the games properties in steam and set the launch option to "-one of the other exes where ever your game is installed-" %command% and the play button will launch that exe instead of the launcher. so for example i put…

They release a bunch of half baked rushed games early that have a host of issues and then fail to properly patch and fix every one of them. This is your business model? To not give your dev team enough time or resources to do a decent job. For every single game you released over the last year or so to feel under cooked and unfinished and to contain bugs To stop patching your games. And…

Complain all you want about 3DR, but at least they never shoehorned a needless launcher into their Steam releases.

unlabelledView post →They added a launcher 2 years after the game's release, where upon clicking on the tiny, grey "Launch the game directly" button buried underneath the launcher button, the game simply simply doesn't launch. You can bypass this by going into Steam Properties -> Launch Options and copying the folder path where your .exe file is, and adding "%command%" at the end of the path, and the game will run by itself, properly. Onto the game itself: It feels more like a collectathon with randomly spawning…

This newer version is also detected by multiple antivirus programs as SENDING OUT MY COMPUTERS DATA TO THE PUBLISHER. This is unacceptable and a breach of privacy. unlabelledView post →-UPDATED REVIEW- Solid boomer built on a modified Quake engine. The devs added a launcher that borked it on the Deck, where you'd have to hunt down the exe in desktop mode and add it as a non-Steam game. That's since been 'fixed', but the game still requires proton fixes to boot, which I feel doesn't qualify it for "Verfied" status. Nonetheless, I do recommend the game. I just hope they get their act together with this kinda stuff because the fans never react positively.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game back when it was in early access, just after Dusk and Ion Fury made a splash on the scene. It jumped on the resurgence of boomer shooters, but the development time was prolonged. When it finally saw release, the hype for boomer shooters had passed its peak, the initial resurgence over. Doom Eternal had released, I believe, and to my eyes this significantly changed the scene. Now shooting veterans dug their claws into Ultrakill and Turbo Overkill, among other Eternal-likes.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful to look at, but getting lost killed it for me. I've just come out of playing Quake and its expansions, including Dimension of the Machine, and I've been meaning to get around to WRATH: Aeon of Ruin for ages. It had been sitting on my 'I'll play that eventually' list for quite a while, and given how much I enjoyed the dark atmosphere, level design and exploration in Quake, I thought WRATH would be right up my street. Unfortunately, after around 3 hours of playing, I've come to…

unlabelledView post →It's really great game, but very hard and quite long, it has three worlds that you go through, unlocking each one after completing the previous, the maps are huge and level design is complicated though. i completed the game at 29 hours. The game is very similar and faithful to Quake, even using the same engine. The only negative part I didn't like was the save system and the somewhat weird menu, but that's a minor issue. Overall, the game is still very good. There are two types of saving:…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ironworks somehow got their filthy and worthless hands on this game. You *could* play the game through directly launching the executable and not the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ launcher, but that doesn't 100% fix the issue of it being there, because that's exactly problem: It IS there. Nobody new to steam or computers is gonna know how to do this even, and that makes this even worse because little do we all realise, there are people who technologically inept. That's who that launcher is meant for too.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wrath: Aeon of Ruin is a fast-paced shooter, labeled a boomer shooter due to its inspiration from older titles like Doom. The pixel art is fantastic and the weapons look really cool, but that’s about all the positives I could muster during my time with it. Right from the start, the game demands an annoying third-party launcher, something that is always a bad sign. The gunplay itself is very boring; every enemy feels like a health sponge, requiring a large number of bullets in a game where ammo…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually like the game a lot more than most people: sure it's kinda too long and therefore drags somewhat but the weapons are real nice especially the shotgun and the campaign overall has a lot of fun to offer. Unfortunately, like many others are saying the publisher launcher thing is absolute garbage. I mean it's not too much of a hustle to turn it off (you can go to the setting within the launcher and then it's one click to turn it off) but the "always launch the game directly" option they…

The development of Wrath: Aeon of Ruin was supported by the Slipgate Ironworks team and two publishers. Bjorn Jacobsen, whose work is known for Cyberpunk 2077, was responsible for the sound design. The soundtrack was composed entirely by Andrew Hulshut, who previously worked on the music for Quake: Champions. The DarkPlaces modification for iD Tech 2 served as the basis for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game uses the Quake engine (specifically the source port DarkPlaces), and is often compared to Quake I. When the game is playing like Quake, it is at its best. Weapons feel good, movement feels good, and combat in tight corridors works. Where the game falls apart is when it opens up into large spaces, filled full of excessively tanky enemies that are spamming ranged attacks from across the map. Unfortunately, the game is much more of the latter than the former.
