Worms W.M.D is a 2D artillery turn-based tactics video game developed and published by Team17. It is the nineteenth installment in the Worms series, and was released on 23 August 2016 for Linux, OS X, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One. It was later released on 23 November 2017 for Switch, on 1 July 2022 for Stadia and on 11 April 2023 for iOS and Android. There is a campaign as well, but I've never touched it. Instead, what keeps me engaged is the thrill of lining up the perfect shot, releasing the power bar at just the right moment, miscalculating spectacularly, and watching your missile arc gracefully into your own worms. They have an almost supernatural tendency to be in the wrong spot. (7/10)

Digging into the issues, it appears that Team 17 is aware of the issue and isn't interested in issuing a fix (https://steamcommunity.com/app/327030/discussions/2/686363730790074305/?ctp=4). Community fixes exist (https://steamcommunity.com/app/327030/discussions/0/695375086723568128/) but don't appear to help in my case. Game is utterly broken - don't waste your money!

Fortunately, there is a way to fix this problem. Worth noting that there is no cross play between console versions and the pc version, so if your friends are on console you ought to join them there or have them join you on pc. It can run on a potato so it shouldn't take too much convincing

Unfortunately, Team17 struggled over the years to create a worthy sequel... until Worms W.M.D. came along! A new beautiful art style (although I'm not a big fan of the worms' design itself), smooth gameplay, and just the right amount of innovation (vehicles and crafting!) without losing what makes the franchise fun. Whenever you want to escape Armageddon’s compatibility hassles, remember: W.M.D. exists, and it’s pretty great!

Nothing really negative to say here, you get exactly what is advertised but with more content than you'd expect. I played mostly on console and bought the game on PC too.

As some other reviews have stated (and from my own friend's mouth) the team is aware of the issue and is simply not fixing it. Do not recommend in general because of that, and if anything steam should at least force them to remove Mac from the system requirements if it doesn't actually work.

Crafting, buildings, vehicles, and mounted guns are really fun to play around with. I was personally introduced to the franchise with this banger. If you have some friends over, W experience. It's fairly often on sale, too, so cheap to get. Also, playing in 2025 the online games with a steam friend also was very easy to set up, and once going I was getting some flashbacks to crowding round one machine 30 odd years ago with the original worms. My friends used to defeat me a lot then, too!

I turned off all the annoying vehicles and turned down the turrets which made it a lot more fun for me. It's one of those games where you'll want to be tweaking the game settings until you get it just right for you, and then it's a lot of fun to play again and again. Wish they would make a new one though, with bigger maps, new weapons and more updated quotes and skins. I would buy that so fast.
