World of Subways 1 – The Path
Developer TML-Studios
The World of Subways 1 line is going from New York beneath the Hudson-River to Newark. The original route is almost equally split in underground and above ground sections. Coming with excellent graphics this simulator also puts a lot of emphasis on original physics of the train and wagons. From the Steam store page

It's a simulator based on simulating one thing, controlling the PATH train. There actually is a career mode, but it's not in the sense of career mode most people are used to. It's called 'Shift Duty' in this case. You can play any time-table of which I'd assume was the PATH schedule back in that day with three different types of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you've ever played Train Simulator 2015, prepare to take a step down in terms of interface and controls and general functionality of the game. I would say the price is a little high, perhaps $9.95 (US) would have been more appropriate than $19.95. The camera controls are basic, there's no zoom, FOV or adjustment of exterior camera. You can't open the train doors unless the camera view is in the driver's cabin, so you can't see the doors opening and closing, or passengers boarding. It's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →World of Subway's 1 - The Path, is a game which is not for the hardcore train simulation fan's, some may like it, some may not, but in my opinion, it saves a spot in my book. So when you get the game for the very first time, you can see that the menu is very basic and plain, but remember this is a game which came out in 2009, not 2015. When you choose the timetable, the type of train you have selected and the location, the loading time takes about 10-15 seconds, so you dont have to complain…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →EDIT: I think it's time to update this review a bit since the information I had when I first wrote it is now outdated. I still remember when this first came out in 2008, at the time we had Microsoft Train Simulator (from 2001) as the major train simulation game, and this seemed like a huge step forward in many aspects. Sadly, time hasn't been kind to the first rendition of World of Subways. I would really like to give a positive review, because I believe this game can still be impressive today…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cool, older train simulator, for enthusiasts. Don't compare it to more modern and/or extensible simulators. Pros: -physics -quite good graphics for it's time -easy to learn, hard to master, challenging -realistic schedules and shifts -chance to drive already retired trains -runs on a P4 toaster -fully customizable controls Cons: -freezes sometimes -schrecklichen englischen Sprache -when in schedule mode, if the real train had a 10 minute wait, then you have to wait 10 minutes too. 15-20-30…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a comment o Subways 4 -7th Ave. Line / I doubt anyone will read this but I feel I must make a quick comment. Although born and raised in Wash. D.c., all my family lived in New York or one of itw boroughs. I fell in love with the RED BIRF. The one i thengame is NOT it . There is no subway sound...no grinding hum when staarting or when decelerating. No hight-pithced wail whentearing down the tracks. No "electrical" pops when going over a short. Until these arfe corrected or addedI will…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an okay product for $10. It's cool if you want to experience something different other than Train Simulator. Yeah some of the scenery is inaccurate and there's bugs galore, but what do you expect for a $10 game? The only severe issues I've encountered so far is that there is no tutorial mode for new players, none of the important buttons and levers (throttle, brake, etc) are mapped meaning first time users will have to manually map the buttons themselves, and the biggest problem is that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was a major step in genre of rail simulator on these days. Definitely must have! Still challenging and fun. Very atmospheric.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great its not for like people who want to train sim hardcore compared to games like TSM 2020 or 2021 but for a game that came out in 2009 its pretty good I have seen some reviews of the game not working and they have it witch is true its a game from 2009 but there should be one last update were they add the new Pa-5 trains that they use now so just to recap fun game and its good for the people that take these train lines from time to time like me so yeah good game just make sure…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bugged as hell, the devs abandoned it and went on to sell more buggy games. Savegames get corrupted 100% of the time. Unplayable, don't buy it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought it on Windows 7. Crashed immediatley after starting. Do not buy on Windows 7.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I DISLIKE THIS GAME Why? - This game was released several years ago and does not run as smoothly as Train Simulator 2015 - There is no in-game help / options menu to consult for key command reference - The voice acting is quite ridiculous - There isn't much to actually do in the missions, the driving becomes simple and endlessly driving the subway through the long stretches of the tunnel segments is at best a way to mess up your eyes What did I like? - The bit of outdoor rail was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This certainly has a charm, and I really like the game. Yes, it's quite old but the graphics are what I expected, but surprisingly good. I love the Manhattan backdrop (pity it isn't HD) but it does give you that immersion driving the train in the open. I was also happy I discovered at least partial XBox360 controller function, admittedly the analogue sticks and triggers don't work, but you can map the trains main functions to the buttons. You will need to assign some of the keyboard commands,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good subway game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →couldn'r get the train to start.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game crashes alot
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It does not have a tutorial and it is really counter-intuitive. very boring and frustrating to play
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"C4 engine has stopped working". I get this every 5 minutes. The game may be good and whatnot, but I can't even play it. WTF?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok HOW DOI GET THE TRAIN RUNNING I DONT KNOW HOW
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fairly old game by now, but I think it holds up. I'm not a super serious simulator player but I thought the game was alright. Doesn't take long to figure it out, there are a few routes and time tables to play although so far I have only done the first one. The camera angles are a bit lacklustre though, primarily it is in first person which is great and you can get a cinematic camera and a camera that looks into the carriages but there isn't any free roam camera that looks outside as far as I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who lives in North Jersey and frequents the PATH, I'd have to say that this is as close as it's gonna get to riding the real thing... emphasis on "close." With that being said, this ain't it chief. The sim hasn't been updated since its release and has missed out on some major changes on the line: new PATH trains, completion/opening of the new WTC station (The Oculus), etc. Going off of that, all the conductor PA announcements (that you have to operate or else you're penalised, btw)…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the worst purchase decisions I made, the only thing that I can say is I bought at an extreme discount If I could get my money back, I would but that is not likely to happen, while the option to select the screen resolution I had to henpeck my around because the buttons are off the screen, I did get it to 720p, the sound is ear bleeding loud, I was able to get it lowered but again setting it up was more of hassle, the manual is in german, so that is ZERO help. The controls are,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I purchase this game in 2017 when I windows 7. It doesn't run in Windows 11. The controls are not working.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is garbage not in english looks like crap and steam refuses to refund it buyer be aware
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →do you need a controller for this?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the age, this game has some outstanding graphics. It looks like this game is no longer actively in development, since there are several bugs that are not resolved, but that is to be expected since they have newer versions out. Overall, excellent game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game for the most part. WOS 1's braking is pretty unrealistic. Every time I feel like I'm going to overrun a station, the train feels like it stops almost immediately. I also have problems trying to take more than one screenshot. When I screenshot one photo, the game screen glitches (whole game screen is gray) and I have to quit the whole game and relaunch it. I also think this game needs a PA-5, which would be nice to have. This game is excellent and runs very smooth for me. Thumbs up…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great for the price, good lighting and sound effects and you can also view the train externally. Easy menu options and fun to play! Watch my quick review here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jToTdRFxYrw
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looked like a fun game to play, when it down loaded. I read the instructions, but I can't get the game to run! Please someone help me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is the worst with it crashing on windows 8 yeah I know the C4 Engine just makes it crash something must be done tip stick to world of subways 3
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pile of garbage, DON'T BUY.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Need Help cant get ingame cursor to work
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's ok.... It needs the Expansion Pack, But u can't find it anywhere anymore WOS Vol 1 EXPANSION PACK... PLEASE!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite it's age and the simple graphics, it's still a nice subway simulator. Just note that this is not the New York City Subway, but the PATH, a suburban train from New Jersey to New York, with several underground stations. Good enough for claustrophobic subway feeling nevertheless. If it crashes for you a lot, switch off Steam Overlay, that helped in my case. Works fine on Linux (with Proton) as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an alright sim of PATH. It's a bit janky, draw distance is buggy, game is rather unoptimized (although that might be a proton issue), and the announcer is rather distractingly bad, but if you're able to put all the aside, this game ain't too bad. I'm able to put all that aside at least, and I think it's alright. I think I'd get a much better experience if someone finally develops an OpenBVE PATH route, but this will do until that happens (if it ever does).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game doesnt seem to work with Windows 11, The game starts up unlike WOS3 but the graphics are SEVERELY corrupted
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a lot of lines, which is fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PATH is PATHing
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →graphics are awful and there is no manual
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is like Milk , it aged poorly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would recommended it if you really wanted something small and good but it was just terrible. The game keeps crashing when I get to Christopher Street Station and I seen people say it crashes when it gets near newark. So I am not even gonna test it because I am on a low-ended laptop. I have great FPS, but just keeps crashing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Classic Route
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first of WoS series. A well done train simulator to practice schedules
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game because I've ridden PATH trains and thought it would be fun. The train is pretty decent in the way it drives, the physics are not amazing but that's ok. I wish it worked with RailDriver but it doesn't. The keyboard interface is a bit clunky and the sound a little grating but it is fun to play. The track side scenery isn't complex but it is very similar to what you see from the train.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Add "Expansion Pack", i bought it on your site, but it doesn't add for the steam-version.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Historic game , Drive the old path train on it lines
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unrestricted views and updated PA5 and this NJ Path train sim would be perfect!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It Would be Cool! if you can operate a PA-5 or older K-Car Models in this game like in the Main menu you can select which year you want to make the PATH Train Take place in like 2020 with the new WTC Mall but i think this is a good Subway Sim Just like OPEN BVE.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →World of Subways 1 – The Path is not good, but not bad. overall it's pretty good for when it came out. If it is on sale you might as well buy it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very basic not really upto modern standards many npcs aren'#t even modeled.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has enough good points to make it worth buying on sale. The graphics and environment are not bad and is fairly immersive if you don't dig for things to complain about. From the perspective of being inn the train the graphics are pretty good and the external views are not bad but they do make obvious the worst points of the game. I think the thing I found the most um well awful is the sky box or sky textures...... 1985 ? My second complaint would be the statues used for the people in the…
