Directed by Sean Byrne, It had a world premiere at Cannes Film Festival (the first Australian film in the program in over a decade) A serial killer (Jai Courtney) kidnaps and films his victims being eaten alive by sharks. It’s revealed he has made dozens of videos. Apparently he’s somehow trying to deal with his own childhood trauma of being mauled by a shark. Eventually, the killer chooses the wrong girl, our protagonist, a van…

neutral · AI labelView post →now I'm thinking of all the A Grade top listed Hollywood actors, and I'm watching Atomic Blonde, not a great film by anyone's imaginings but bloody hell Charlize Theron does so much of the heavy lifting in some of these movies (look at the recent In Apex, a poor man's Wolf Creek) and she kills it!
neutral · AI labelView post →which is especially funny because Hereditary and It Follows (both of which I love) also have some really insane violence it doesn't make Wolf Creek or whatever a bad movie

Only a handful of AU horror pics have bettered that out here (Invisible Man: $9m, Wolf Creek: $6m, Wolf Crk 2: $4.7m, Talk To Me: $4.2m, Bring Her Back: $2.7m).

neutral · AI labelView post →I used to treat movies that'll wreck me ("Kids", "Requiem for a Dream", "The Rules of Attraction") as kind of an endurance sport when I was in my 20s. The movie I genuinely don't want to watch again though, is "Wolf Creek" - it's too nihilistic and pointless for me.
negative · AI labelView post →Need a good horror film to watch. Something tense maybe - like tense survivalist horror. Wolf Creek. High Tension. 🤔 something like that… is that the best when I have a brutal migraine though… #HorrorMovies

Where I lived they filmed some of Rabbit Proof Fence, Stealth (2005), The Rover (2014) & Mortal Kombat (2021). Then an hour or two down the road they shot some bits of Wolf Creek. Pretty cool to see the way a big film crew works.
neutral · AI labelView post →For folks who get annoyed about ushers inspecting cinemas during the movie... I worked at a large cinema complex in 2005 when Wolf Creek came out. On my first inspection of one screening, I found a bunch of patrons being held hostage by a screaming madman with machetes. Police called, nobody hurt.

positive · AI labelView post →Bring Her Back was the best movie of last year imo! If you've got the stomach for gore, check out The Loved Ones. It's an all time favourite. Wolf Creek is also completely miserable but a great time Also Lake Mungo! I hate Babadook but people seem to like it!
positive · AI labelView post →for me, if it doesn’t have that ick, it doesn’t stick I do love psychological potboilers and “elevated” horror, but yeah you’re spot on - even those owe a debt to the gonzo gore that came before it! 🤌 and aaa Wolf Creek. that’s a movie! that mid aughts extreme era was so fertile
positive · AI labelView post →I just watched Wolf Creek and it was good Also Kath and Kim are amazing
positive · AI labelView post →I really dug Sean Byrne's DANGEROUS ANIMALS. A shark movie where the shark isn't actually a villain. Plays a bit like WOLF CREEK at sea without the gut-churning bleakness. The horror has weight thanks to the writing and a Jai Courtney perf that thankfully doesn't go full wacko. That'd be too easy.
neutral · AI labelView post →The Australian movie “Wolf Creek” may be close to this. The cast make mistakes or choices that may not be optimal but they aren’t stupid and the ending is… well it’s a bleak situation for the last one standing.
neutral · AI labelView post →I saw Wolf Creek at the cinema, and the gore and torture was too much for me. I ended up hanging out in the hallway outside reading until the movie was over and my friend came out. He loved the movie.

positive · AI labelView post →Would be funny if the gut-wrenching scene from Toy Story 5 that Tom Hanks mentioned recently is just a Scheiße porn snuff film end. Like, worse than A Serbian Film level. Someone eats too many baby babybels, who are, of course, sentient, and then the whole thing devolves like the movie Wolf Creek.
