Two angels, Damiel and Cassiel, glide through the streets of Berlin, observing the bustling population, providing invisible rays of hope to the distressed but never interacting with them. When Damiel falls in love with lonely trapeze artist Marion, the angel longs to experience life in the physical world, and finds — with some words of wisdom from actor Peter Falk — that it might be possible for him to take human… From TMDB

unlabelledView post →Such a great shot of Peter Falk. Wim Wenders knew his secret identity and put it at the center of WINGS OF DESIRE. If you haven't this great film you should track it down if only for Falk's performance. You can find it on the Criterion Channel and (I think) HBO.

unlabelledView post →A lot of people really seem to dislike the Wim Wenders film, WINGS OF DESIRE (1987). But watching the restored version on the big screen, on a warm summer night in Berlin, l found it strangely moving. Also, what a stunning love letter to 1980s West Berlin.

unlabelledView post →Wings of Desire is one of my favorite films. The remake, City of Angels, is mid save 2 things, Andre Braugher's performance as Cassiel, and Morissette's tie-in single "Uninvited." Both are clued into something numinous while the movie itself is hopelessly earthbound. www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvgi...

unlabelledView post →What an incredible film. I dont think Wim Wenders had created anything on this level since Wings of Desire in 1987. Kōji Yakusho gives the best performance of 2023, with minimal dialog, great music and the supporting cast is note perfect. You were right, @danmucida.bsky.social

SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS is a perfectly acceptable answer (and one of my fave films full stop) but I'd have to go for WINGS OF DESIRE - Henri Alekan's luminous, swooning but scalpel-sharp picture is like the third recording angel in the picture.
