Weathering with You
The summer of his high school freshman year, Hodaka runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo, and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits. The weather is unusually gloomy and rainy every day, as if taking its cue from his life. After many days of solitude, he finally finds work as a freelance writer for a mysterious occult magazine. Then, one day, Hodaka meets Hina on a busy street… From TMDB

unlabelledView post →I swear I can and do appreciate good writing as well, I can just forgive a lot if a movie has enough visual spectacle to make me feel something (However, sometimes even visual spectacle doesn't save a movie I just don't like, such as A Silent Voice or Weathering With You)

unlabelledView post →Favorite game? Hoo boy, that's a tough one. Actually, I lie. Favorite series is the Horizon series from Guerilla Games. HZD, HFW. Impatiently waiting for the third one. Favorite animated movie? A Silent Voice, this one was painful to watch. Your Name, Weathering With You. Both of them fucked me up
unlabelledView post →Weathering with You is in Tasty Tier “It’s a quaint little movie, I don’t think it’s as good as Your Name. but I think it’s a very pretty film. I just really like seeing all the rain. I love rain conceptually when I don’t have to deal with it!”

And I could tell that there was a lot there to love that I wasn't getting, at least on a first viewing. Finna watch it again to see if I can vibes with it more.

unlabelledView post →As part of #NationalBookLoversDay I've taken to reading After Dark. It's my first go at reading something by Haruki Murakami, but already the late night urban life reminds me of Makoto Shinkai's movie Weathering with You, and the writing style makes the atmosphere feel like Perfect Blue or Akira.
unlabelledView post →The downside to the visuals is that they are very reminiscent of other projects. The "apocalypse" imagery is all just Evangelion style big reddish pink halos and the rest of the movie is very much trying to be a Shinkai movie, especially Weathering With You. Still, hard to find more impressive work.
unlabelledView post →Thinking about the movie Weathering With You by Makoto Shinkai, and how it had one of the stupidest endings I've ever seen in a film. I don't want to spoil it, but it's an ending that'll make you go "What? Who the fuck ends a movie like that?!"

It is also not so much a love story as it is a moral test. #WeatheringWithYou #MakotoShinkai #anime #moviereview #fyp rumble.com/v76iq0i-weat...

unlabelledView post →Just watched #Suzume today. Weathering with You is one of my favorite movies ever so I was really looking forward to it. But I dunno, this movie felt very confused. I'm not sure the characters really grew or changed at all and the theme's just messy if there even is a theme.

unlabelledView post →Shout Factory has an anime sale going on, so I grabbed Weathering With You, Perfect Blue, and A Silent Voice - The Movie. Quite the little mix, but should bring me some joy.
