The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes
Directed by Tomohisa Taguchi
Urashima Tunnel – Once you enter that tunnel, you can get whatever you want, but at a price. Kaoru Tohno, who seems to have an elusive personality and traumatic past, and Anzu Hanashiro, who is struggling to reconcile her ideal image and true-to-heart attitude, team up to investigate the Urashima Tunnel and get what they want. This is an unforgettable summer story of nostalgia and sprinting in a remote countryside. From TMDB

unlabelledView post →14) The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes An interesting film very implicitly about passive suicidality & depression and allegorically about those things & how influence behaviors. Romance aspect at least tried decently enough with bonding over their apathy & disconnect at the world. 8.5/10

unlabelledView post →I watched anime film, The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes. It was alright with pretty animation. But a lot more could've been done execution-wise. Since they're based off novels, I wonder if a series would've suited it best.

unlabelledView post →Just watched The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes. I like the vibes of the tunnel, though the implications of the ending brings many questions... Did she really just not ever try to run into the tunnel after him until then? Didn't she think of how awkward the age gap would be if she waited?

unlabelledView post →Finished The Tunnel to Summer the Exit of Goodbyes. Solid film about dealing with loss/reconnecting/moving forward ala the supernatural/ folktales. (The the time warping tunnel is named after Urashima Tarō.) One of my favorite bits is where the characters try to science out said supernatural tunnel.

unlabelledView post →I really enjoyed The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes, a beautifully animated film about loss, guilt, creative struggles, friendship, love & trippy time dilation. The kinda creepy ending (a result of following its internal rules to the logical conclusion) prevents an unreserved recommendation.

unlabelledView post →After watching The Tunnel to Summer, The Exit of Goodbyes. I think it's kinda a shame that anime movies that aren't the most popular have to take over a year to get a stateside release. It was a pretty good film and I wouldn't mind watching it again at home if a subbed home release occurs.

unlabelledView post →The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes is rich in its symbolism, specifically its use of time and the tunnel. I had the unfortunate luck of watching the English dub, the voice direction is very lackluster especially with how every kid sounds like an adult (1/3)

unlabelledView post →19. The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes (2022) Competently ruminates over a straightforward thought experiment, exploring how grief arrests one’s hope for actualization and how love is the remedy. The story fleshing out this premise into a film rings mostly trite and melodramatic, though 5/10
