positive · AI labelView post →Hollywood History: HOUSE OF WAX premiered in NYC OTD 4/10/1953. Besides being classic horror with great Vincent Price performance, was first 3D movie shown in color! Still holds up spectacularly if you can catch 3D screening. That fire amazes. #filmsky 📽 #horrorsky

neutral · AI labelView post →What’s an underrated scary movie and why is it House of Wax?!
positive · AI labelView post →I’ve told the story before but in 2004 I snuck onto the set of the Paris Hilton movie House of Wax bc they filmed it in the Village stages at Movie World and security was pretty lax. I did this for several days, pretended I was a runner, and only dipped when I realised they were figuring me out

positive · AI labelView post →Put composer David Buttolph, #BOTD in 1902 (d. 1983) in the category "flew under the radar." Over 300 film and TV scores, including HOUSE OF WAX (1953), THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS (1953) and the "Maverick" TV series. A long and noteworthy career for a guy you never heard of. #filmsky #moviesky
neutral · AI labelView post →The rental for "House of Wax" also included a copy of "Mystery of the Wax Museum", the 1930's film that inspired it, so I watched and sketched both! It was shot in blue and red, which meant it had a rich but not fully saturated range of color that I am completely obsessed with. #watercolor #art

neutral · AI labelView post →House of Wax (2005) is a mediocre and misguided horror film. However, the last 10 or so minutes are pure Dario Argento madness and I have to to give the director, Jaume Collet-Serra, a lot of credit for that.
neutral · AI labelView post →Incredibly prolific film composer David Buttolph was BOTD in 1902 (d. 1983). Over 300(!) film and TV scores, including HOUSE OF WAX (1953), THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS (1953) and the "Maverick" TV series. neutral · AI labelView post →Happy 92nd anniversary to "The Mystery Of The Wax Museum", starring Lionel Atwill and Fay Wray. Fun Fact : This movie would go on to be remade as "House Of Wax" (1953), starring Vincent Price, and then again in "House Of Wax" (2005)
neutral · AI labelView post →Being honest, this week was straight-up schlock & none of it was surprising. House of Wax was the exception, almost a 4 star film for me. Crab Monsters was fun. Hillbilllys was my first RiffTrax film (longtime MST3k fan); even they couldn't make it good. #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched #Filmsky

Day #84 "House of Wax" (Jaume Collet-Serra/2005) Not even a remake but a complete overhaul of the original House of Wax. This mean-spirited little flick is fun as all hell and has some great gore set pieces! Worth your time.

positive · AI labelView post →Released on this day in 1933 was the pre-Code mystery-horror film, 'Mystery of the Wax Museum'. Directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Lionel Atwill, Fay Wray, Glenda Farrell, and Frank McHugh, this was an early film in two-color Technicolor. #OnThisDay
