Combine the art direction of Wind Waker, the combat and platforming of the SpongeBob games, add a grappling hook straight out of the Arkham series, and finish it off with the fluid movement of Echo, and you’ve got Wavetale. It’s an adventure/platformer with a touching story and solid mechanics, though they unfortunately stay the same throughout, offering little sense of progression since your abilities never really evolve. Even so, it remains consistently fun perhaps a bit too easy but the…

Short 3D action platformer. The game isn't hard in any way. The achievements are straight forward, no need to do side quests or gather collectibles, the only missable achievements are 4 challenges and speaking to the trader a few times, even then these can be easily obtained after the credits roll, everything else is story related. I struggle to come up with anything else to talk about, the game as a whole is quite cliche but it just works. If you're looking for something chill that you can…

not worth 30 dollars, the game can be beaten in like 5 hours, and the mechanics and locations get pretty repetitive. soundtrack was fine at some points but i didn't really like the story or connect with it in any way, some people might tho. achievements are easy to get, so thats a plus overall don't buy at full price, wait for a sale if you are bored on a saturday or just want an easy game to complete

A 3D platformer with some very interesting storytelling and mechanics. As you surf along the waves, jump and race, you'll find it all works out in the end... probably. About 5 hours to 100*%. + Well crafted story and characters. + The drawn facial animations are adorable. + The dynamic music is great! + Very smooth movement over waves and land. + Cute sidequests. - The 'interruptions' of the tutorial are a bit annoying. - A fast-travel system would have been nice. - Side-quest items only…

Experienced on the Meta Quest 3 You can view my 3D in VR gameplay here: https://youtu.be/ggVR0BXpqRk Yes, you can play Wavetale in 3D in VR using the completely free Geo-11 3D mod (search for it). You can then view the 3D in VR using an app such as Virtual Desktop Streamer for the Meta Quest 3. By default it is SBS 3D, but I used TAB 3D for ease of use. Game works almost flawless in 3D in VR thanks to the specific 3D fix for the game. Thanks to all who worked on it. Game art-style fits…

A charming little story-driven adventure that is a joy to play due to it's fun and intuitive fast-paced movement. I didn't write usually a review because it's easier for me to express it in words than to write it down, but this time I couldn't help but write it. such a hidden gem!!! What a beautiful game, in graphics, in gameplay and in story. There is voice acting for the most part so it help alot who have difficulty to focus in reading. Surfing across the waves is incredibly smooth and satisfying, giving a sense of freedom. The visuals are vibrant and stunning, paired perfectly with an emotional story…

Very good art direction, the game is pretty and is very contemplating. Surfing on waves and grappling on tubes is fun for 30 minutes but the map is way too big for the lack of points of interests. You will spend 70% of the game surfing straight forward only to get a mid cinematic, fight 2 or 3 mobs that die in 2 hits and get a ton of dialogs that won't tell you that much anyways. 30$ is clearly overpriced for this game. The fight mechanic adds nothing to the game and is poorly designed at a…

This game is a lot better than I expected, though I had a bad first impresson. The game is capped at 60fps if you have vsync disabled in-game. When you enable vsync it uncaps the framerate. And this game has very poor image quality due to heavy aliasing, but I found that if I reduced the resolution to 1080p it was a lot less of an eyesore and the game became bearable. Aside from those issues, this is a great game. It's very fun to surf around the world, and the story is interesting. The…

A "story-driven action-adventure" (as described by the publisher, but more accurately described as a "relaxploration 3d platformer") set in a post-apocalyptic archipelago (not too dissimilar from the Submerged games, but with a much more stylized art direction and a clearly fictional world). The gameplay is zooming around on the water and the occasional bits of land by surfing, jumping, gliding and grappling. Every once in a while the player also needs to whack and whale on enemies that…

Was right at the end the game and then it crashed. My progress was not saved for most of the game and I got sent back to one of the first areas. I'm not playing through the whole game again. The save system ruined my whole experience of a game I was really enjoying. I've rarely been that mad at a game but this one managed to do it. Do a better save system next time because for a 30 bucks game something like that should never happen.

Man, what a charming little game. Wavetale isn’t a difficult game. The combat is simple, and the platforming isn’t particularly challenging either—but that’s not where it shines. What really sets it apart is its unique movement system that lets you “ride” across the water. It feels incredibly satisfying. Skating along the ocean surface is pure dopamine, and when you combine that with platforming that just feels right, the movement becomes something really special. The story is very…

The worst of this game is the fact that you cannot manually save and auto saves are tied to the story so once you complete it, YOU. CANNOT. SAVE. Want to finish out the achievements? Want to take a break from the story and explore? Forget it. You will likely experience a crash and be thrown back to the final save point losing all progress. I cannot unlock the final achievement because the shop keeper it glitched and I can no longer talk to him. I wanted to love this game. Got it in deep sale…

Recomended if you get it at a sale, otherwise don't bother. It's a cute game that definitly had some Wind Waker vibes, the art is good, your traversal over water feels great and even if the story is pretty predictable (like you can guess almost every major story beat and reveal right away) but it does it's job and some of the caracters are great. It's the gameplay that's a bit lacking. You don't really get any new abilities during the game, so there is little progression in that sense. It's…

My score: 5/10 ⭐TL;DR: Clunky movement, endless dialogue, and barely any real gameplay depth. Pretty colors can only carry a game so far. Overview I’ll go straight to the point: the trailers make this look like a fast, exploration-driven open world, when in reality it’s a clunky, janky, very linear corridor-like platformer. Jumps are floaty and overly sensitive—it’s one of those games where you never quite know if you’re going to land where you intended. Surfing feels inconsistent too; some…

A short and sweet adventure, with a cute ArtStyle and fun movement. The story is fine, even though predictable, but works for a small game like this. The highlight in this game is the movement: its so much fun! Especially surfing the water but the platform/climb passages also work well The only part that feel very bare-bone is the combat, but there is also very little of it, since there are only small enemies that die in a hit or two, and they dont appear to often. The basic gameplay loop boils down to collecting objects in a certain zone until you move to the next zone to do it all again. It is also possible to do some tasks out of the intended order, like skipping the first island in an area and clearing some side islands first or jumping a fence and rescuing gloom victims before triggering the gate to unlock, which can temporarily break some parts of the game. Fun action adventure game. The platforming sections are well done. Nice art style, controls are fluid. Felt like I was playing an actually good version of Sonic Frontiers. Buy on sale. Didn't care for Grandma and her dialogue though...very boomer like and passive aggressive, ugh. Some of the dialogue has some of that filler crap that adds nothing to the story but the game is fairly short so I'll give it a pass. Would like to see a bigger sequel with no grandma and better dialogue.

Very short, but extremely fun game. I loved the environment and setting that tells a heartwarming/tearjerking story. I will admit that I was hoping for more worldbuilding and stories to be told about the world and its characters, but that didn't hamper the game itself and it did what it set out to do. Overall, I find this game to be very solid and would definitely play a sequel should it happen.

I really wanted to like this game. Unfortunately the stuttering and jank made the game virtually unplayable. I checked other reviews in case it may be my computers fault, sadly it seems the stutter is a pretty common complaint. Stuttering movement in a parkour game is inexcusable. The time challenges were frustrating with freezing frame rates causing the camera to flick randomly, not helpful when every second to the finish line counts.
