60 of 238 · most liked firstit's 2009, i'm watching the WATCHMEN movie in a theater and it's catastrophically bad. it's 2019, i'm choosing not to see the WATCHMEN tv series in respect to Alan Moore. it's 2024, i've just watched the whole thing and losing my mind about what a great and necessary addition to the comic it is.
positive · AI labelView post →Watchmen (2009) 🎬🖤 Directed by Zack Snyder
neutral · AI labelView post →instead of traditional political debates, the only prompt candidates should have to respond to is “please explain the themes of Watchmen and also the movie Parasite” and we can see what happens
neutral · AI labelView post →I finally got this framed. @davegibbons90 drew this spectacular, one-off original #Rorschach print, (and pencil) for me when I was working on the film #Watchmen in London, 2006. It is the pride of my Hollywood memorabilia collection.
neutral · AI labelView post →I couldn't sleep, so I put on the Watchmen movie with the sound barely on, plus subtitles. It's incredible as a (near-)silent film. A lot of my problems with it recede. Snyder can make images, for sure.
neutral · AI labelView post →The 2001 live action version of The Tick is arguably a better adaptation of Watchmen than Zack Snyder's film
negative · AI labelView post →Tonight, we start watching the Watchmen.
neutral · AI labelView post →The Watchmen movie is nuts because it’s the most perfect intro to a comic book movie ever followed by Just Kinda Okay. The Lucy and the football of capeshit.
neutral · AI labelView post →Rereading The Watchmen after many years and I'm surprised that when they made a movie it wasn't just a shot-for-shot adaptation. It's quite cinematic and there aren't a lot of what you might call comic book tricks. It mostly feels like there's a camera somewhere.
neutral · AI labelView post →Watchmen is a story that only the comic medium can tell. Even in the most capable hands with the most faithful approach, a film adaptation cannot begin to do what the comic did. The panels, the written excerpts at the end of each issue, the 12 issue format, how each panel is a moment in time…etc.
neutral · AI labelView post →You know what sucks? The Watchmen movie.
negative · AI labelView post →"Another Watchmen movie has been announced"
neutral · AI labelView post →I had such a good movie day with myself yesterday watching some of my favs. I watched Watchmen, Full Metal Jacket, Casino, Goodfellas, The Departed and Training Day
neutral · AI labelView post →We read and then are watching Watchmen (the HBO series, not the ludicrous film) in my transmedia narrative class. There was an audible gasp in the class on Thursday when I paused on this frame, which students hadn't noticed.
neutral · AI labelView post →I think that if people viewed this show as its own thing they would realize it’s Very Good & also even if we don’t view it as its own thing we at least gotta admit that it clears the Zack Snyder Watchmen film.
positive · AI labelView post →One thing about Road House even I have a hard time believing is true: When Swayze walks around Gazzara's table during their pivotal bfast meeting,he reaches the center of the table at the exact midpoint of the movie, after which everything changes. Like it's the symmetrical issue of goddamn Watchmen!
neutral · AI labelView post →Terry Gilliam explains why there should never be a WATCHMEN movie, back in 2003:
neutral · AI labelView post →Black Panther. Watchmen the TV Series. Insecure. Sinners. Selma. Bridgerton. In the 90s, Hollywood barely let Black people make films and TV. I think when we say, "TV and film peaked in the 90s," we really mean, "For straight, white, American and European audiences."
neutral · AI labelView post →I push Watchmen series on EVERYONE. But, also, Rosewood got a decent movie about it starring Ving Rhames several years ago. I think Watchmen really excelled by being a sequel to the source, rather than a retelling, but it did an amazing job of telling about that Massacre to the mainstream.
positive · AI labelView post →I'm watching the Watchmen movie to see how well it's held up. I don't know why I'm doing this. When I meet God I'll have to explain I used his gift in this manner. Don't make the same mistake I did. You don't ever have to watch the Watchmen movie again.
negative · AI labelView post →Directed by @brandonvietti.bsky.social with @straczynski.bsky.social screenplay adaptation of Moore and Gibbons classic GN, WATCHMEN CHAPTER TWO will be available also on Blu-ray and ultraHD on December 4th.
neutral · AI labelView post →Watchmen, the masterpiece comic, is a criticism of the American imperial police state. Watchmen, the piece of shit movie, is a celebration of American violence and excess.
negative · AI labelView post →Gunn gets that not every comic book movie needs to be inspired by Watchmen or The Dark Knight Returns. Sometimes, it's not a dark reflection on our depraved modern existence. Sometimes, we just wanna see superheroes save the day.
neutral · AI labelView post →Oh wow someone made an adaptation of Zack Snyders Watchmen movie
neutral · AI labelView post →*hey siri play the intro to the Watchmen movie*
neutral · AI labelView post →Movie idea. Someone is murdering everyone who has ever done a film or TV adaptation of the Watchmen. Alan Moore has to investigate to prove that it’s not him.
neutral · AI labelView post →watching the new animated Watchmen movie and holy shit this movie actually properly understands how to depict Rorschach not as a stoic badass but as the deranged reactionary psycho he was in the novel. take notes, snyder.
positive · AI labelView post →Today's TV show recommendation is "Watchmen", available on HBO. This TV series is a sequel to the classic graphic novel "The Watchmen" (less so to the movie version, it's based on the events in the novel which had a very different ending). It's brilliant. One season. Regina King ROCKS. #TVShow
positive · AI labelView post →I saw people bringing 8 year olds to "Watchmen", despite the warning the theater posted, because "Hey, it's a superhero movie, it's fer kids, right?"
neutral · AI labelView post →Damon Lindelof (Lost, Watchmen) has revealed details of his NEW JEDI ORDER film, including how it would’ve addressed the division in Star Wars fandom and plans to make the sequel trilogy characters the “center of Star Wars” after Episode IX. neutral · AI labelView post →Books to Films 📚=🎞️ Watchmen (1986) by Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons was adapted in 2009. Though a close adaption, the film changes key aspects. The ending is altered along with some additions of uber violence. The Black Freighter is notably absent along with that world's media. 👁️🗨️⏳⚛️ #filmsky #booksky
unlabelledView post →To be fair, I don't think Watchmen *could* work as a film, regardless of the director behind it, but it's kind of impressive how little Snyder actually understands Watchmen, thematically, visually, characteristically, narratively, etc.

unlabelledView post →easily the Watchmen movie. How could you make a frame by frame recreation of this legendary movie and miss the point so badly. Completely soulless and insipid. Fuck Zach Snyder
unlabelledView post →What are you gonna get out of a slavishly faithful animated Watchmen that you didn’t get from the movie tbh
unlabelledView post →Also any Metal Gear Solid movie will be Hogshit that story is meant for video games just like Watchmen was meant to be a comic

unlabelledView post →Whether you agree with it or not, there is a significant cultural stigma in the West around the word "cartoon". As others have pointed out, for a very long time it was almost exclusively associated with comic strips in the newspaper and then animated children's television. It's similar to how "comic books" was set aside in favor of "graphic novels". "Watchmen" is not, colloquially, a comic book. Neither is "The Killing Joke". "Animated film" is another example of a term that was adopted to…

unlabelledView post →This is the fundamental stylistic issue at the heart of the MCU, The Dark Knight, etc. Outside of a genre deconstruction like Watchmen, an “objective” POV defeats the purpose of a superhero film. (These posts were prompted by another street-level hero making a less-than-spectacular return this week)
unlabelledView post →Jeff Buckley’s cover of “Hallelujah” being in the first Shrek movie is one of the funniest needle drops in movie history until I remembered that the original from Leonard Cohen played during a sex scene in the 2009 movie Watchmen.
unlabelledView post →Started thinking “how would *I* adapt Watchmen to film?” and quickly remembered the only way to do that would be to make a completely new story with completely different themes, because EVERYTHING about Watchmen is married to its medium. Not just structurally and in terms of the cool formalism…
