I'll be honest, I'm positive in both but I think the '78 is a classic. What's your favorite flavor of zombie movie? #horrorsky #filmsky #nowwatching

The real strength here is how the film gut punches you with raw emotion that comes not from the music, but from the relationships. The characters are fully formed and well acted. 3.5 ⭐
unlabelledView post →Thinking about how one of my favourite things to see in a film is a character coming up with a plan, and then executing that plan down to the minutiae of every step. IMO the perfect action / thriller version of this is THIEF and the perfect horror film version of this is DAWN OF THE DEAD '78.
unlabelledView post →The first 11 minutes or so of Zach Snyder's DAWN OF THE DEAD is maybe the best zombie movie. Just like the trailer for MAN OF STEEL is the best Superman movie.

I dig Night of the Living Dead better & consider it to be Romero's true masterpiece, but that goes heavy & hard. For comfort/entertainment? Dawn, baby. 📽️

unlabelledView post →Ah yes, the movie with references to The Shining, Monty Python, Pirates of the Caribbean, Bud Light commercials, Dawn of the Dead, The Matrix, M.C. Hammer, and Karate Kid all in the span of a single 2-minute scene.
unlabelledView post →☢️#70. Dawn of the Dead, 1978. A zombie film high-water mark from the director who started the genre. Social commentary that doesn’t get too preachy and zombies that don’t move too fast. Wonderful gags, gore, and whip-smart humor. Let’s go to the mall! #DawnoftheDead 4.5/5 ☢️

unlabelledView post →My ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review of DAWN OF THE DEAD boxd.it/grPASr Undead masterpiece by which I measure every other zombie endeavor. Many are good. None are equal. Theatrical cut expertly blends humorous satiric elements with character development with gnarly practical effects. Mall life rules! #filmsky 📽

unlabelledView post →Like, the cops in the beginning of Romero's Dawn of the Dead are nowhere near as vicious as they would be in a movie if he were still alive. He would absolutely not show Wooley as an *unusually* violent cop. He'd be the norm.

unlabelledView post →Dawn of the Dead. 1978. Dir: George Romero. Mostly know for its social critique of mass consumerism — w/ the majority of the film based at the mall — its opening 20 mins of SWAT teams going nuts while clearing out tenement buildings of its ‘illegals’ remains deftly poignant even today. #filmsky
unlabelledView post →Seeing Romero’s Dawn of the Dead at a midnight screening in a mall theater so you had to walk through an empty mall at 3 in the morning after the movie was over. It’s why god made the movies.
unlabelledView post →Picking a random film from my collection to show off for no real reason! Day #75 "Dawn of the Dead" (Zack Snyder/2004) An entertaining reimaging of the original Romero classic. In my opinion the most fun Zach Snyder film with likeable characters and great gore gags. Check it out!

unlabelledView post →One of the very best horror films. The action comes in small spurts. That tunnel scene almost killed me the 1st time I saw it. The film has underlying longing for family. That kiss. The film starts & ends w the same word HELLO. There's a Dawn of the Dead (orig) zombie referenced.
