Replace all instances of gamespy.com with openspy.net and hey now multiplayer works. idk why the devs didn't do this themselves and ship with functional multiplayer. Hopefully they can do it in a patch. Literally only takes seconds.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an extremely faithful re-release, it still has the Gamespy based online mode and no native gamepad controls (despite also releasing on PS2 in 2003) - however it also supports cloud saves and has Steam Achievements! Despite the lack of native gamepad support, the game plays great on Steam Deck once you customize the controls using SteamOS. I shared a controller profile titled 'Steam Deck' if you want to try it. This makes the game very playable. I'm happy this game is on Steam now! I…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before you buy: This game is terrible. The aiming has mouse acceleration or some kind of janky aim assist and just feels awful to play. The sound design sucks, I don't think you can actually rebind controls and this game is from the era of "Press the ACTION BUTTON to do thing." And I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love it. This game is such a deep part of my childhood. Only buy this game if you know what you're getting into or love old ♥♥♥♥♥♥ games. It is certainly quiet.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You could do a lot worse with 10 dollars than revisiting a novelty in the history of 40k and Games Workshop's myriad videya tie-ins, but I couldn't advise you to do it with a straight face, either. It sucked back then, and it sucks just as much now. It IS, however, interesting. Not because of any unique game mechanics or design ethos, mind, but because to this day it's pretty much the only 40k video game with an exclusively alien POV. Not only that, but it actually depicts the Imperium as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is this a good game no look I only bought this game because its the only time GW will ever make a tau centered game anyway 9/10, not enough dead imperials
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game needs a remaster or remake. This is about $10 for a 25 year old game that is still as buggy as it was when it first released. ✔ No settings for changing keybinds or sensitivity ✔ Audio is still buggy ✔ Swapping guns needed me to alt + tab ✔ Gunplay is is still buggy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well... I gave it 10 minutes and the game definitely needs refinement such as settings for graphics, audio and controls in the game not in the separate launcher hidden in the game folder, located in Steamapps\Common\Warhammer 40,000 Fire Warrior then open FWPCConfig.exe. But I am grateful Games Workshop added the classic games onto Steam and now easier to access without looking for hardware from the Dark age of technology.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OH YEAH FIRE WARRIOR IS BACK!! I remember playing this game on the PS2, this was actually my first exposure to warhammer 40k DONT BUY IF YOUR EXPECTING A REAL GAME THOUGH the mouse control is kind of wonky so be aware of that. besides that I love this piece of crap.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It only took GW 23 years to release another Tau-centric game... AND IT'S A RERELEASE OF THE SAME GAME
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't recommend in it's current state. They didn't fix the terrible controls which completely mess up on widescreen, sending your mouse flying on the x axis but crawling on the y. The audio is still the same buzzy and unfocused mess from the original pc version. Despite the fact that you can change the resolution to 4k, the ui stays massive and pixelated. Also there are no options in the options tab because almost every single choice such as mouse sensitivity or keybindings have to be made in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are ZERO setting options other than main volume, which you cant change anyways, and the game is incredibly loud off rip with no functioning way to lower the volume in game. They tell you to press buttons without telling you what those buttons are and give you no way to look for the controls other than mashing your keyboard. To be fair, I think having a Warhammer game where you don't play as the Imperium is fantastic but the QoL is atrocious.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has no option to adjust anything besides audio. Mouse doesn't properly work and controller inputs are way over the top. I tried to like it but it's simply not a well made port.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's worth saying; this game was savaged by reviewers back in 2003 for being terrible, and so don't expect it to have somehow magically aged well to become a classic; it's still really f***king awful. I only bought & played it because I couldn't play this (the first ever fully 3D warhammer FPS) back then, and so I was curious to see what it was like. The only reason other than that to get this is to hear Tom Baker's awesome voiceover(s) describing the 40k universe. The actual game is total…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hi! Long time reader very rare commenter. I see a fair amount of the reviews are saying this game is terrible. Well have I got news for you! It is in fact really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible. However, if you want to be brought back to a time when your knees did not hurt and bills were not a thing you thought about then by jings is this the game for you. Through rose tinted glasses i remember my introduction to the 40k universe looking much better than this. How wrong i was. I also remember being…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its trash, but its MY trash. Its nice to be able to play this again at a higher resolution without weird issues. The sound design still sucks sadly but the visual design is fantastic.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow the first Warhammer game I ever played as a child. I have created a custom controller layout so you can use xbox controller with this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a weird game. Every element constantly shifts in quality, going from awesome to crap and back in minutes. For every beautiful area there is a horrendous one next to it. For every badass gun there is a peashooter with misaligned hitboxes and out-of-sync sound effects. I can't call it a good game, but I can't stop playing it after all these years. Desperately needs a remake
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →“Push the button… Well done” At a thrift store in 2007 my brother and I finally got our hands on a copy of this game. As children we had come into Warhammer through friends and their older siblings. The Tau were new and fresh. I still own a copy of the White Dwarf (Warhammer Magazine), with their announcement. This was like Medal of Honor or Halo according to the magazine clippings we had. The cover art for this game alone, had us believing that the Tau could actually be as cool as Space…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genuinely I wanted to like this game, I tried to like it, I tried to look past it's blandness. Even as a T'au fan I wanted to like it. Those last like 5-6 levels are some of the most abysmal BS I've played in a video game. Genuinely this is only bearable if you're a T'au fan and even then it's questionable. Just watch the Mandalore gaming video. He's right on 100% of this game. Don't waste your time. Also the phrase "It's quiet." is burned into my head. Thank you fire warrior may the Tau'va…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Strongly do not recommend. The beginning and middle of the game are really simple, if a bit slow, fun but the last third against chaos is pure agony. Checkpoints are placed way too far apart and fights as well as the transition between them are drawn out to an unbearable degree while you fight the same three enemies ad nauseam. For illustration: You walk into an obvious arena. Nothing spawns yet. You go to the exit of the room. The exit is then blocked, not by a barrier mind you, but by a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A gift from God himself. There has never been a game with more creative integrity. There has never been a game with better writing. The story wraps itself around you in the same way Jormungandr wraps itself as it devours the world and itself. The release of this remaster proves that this world is not dead yet. It proves that humanity deserves to exist in this plain of suffering. The only gift one can give unto themselves is to purchase this game and play it. To do so allows one to imagine the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. Sucks that this is the only Tau anything I've ever heard of. Nothing really out there for 40K fans that are tired of humans.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →W40K: Fire Warrior was a great game back in 2003, but its really disappointing to see its to reappearing with all the classic bugs and error. The mouse acceleration make the game almost impossibly to play and to make it worse, then we also have bad crosshairs and poor hitbox location. This game is not worth to spent either money or time on. Pros: - Short campaign Cons: - Extremely bad optimized - Key config are horrible mapped - Bad performance - Graphics glitches and bugs -…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Anyone downvoting this game is a Gue'la There are no options in game for controls, sound etc unfortunately, and Kais has decided that he now is going to use the Mordhau grip with his sword it seems. Otherwise is a nice nostalgia trip on a simple but fun game. GW need to do more FPS set as xeno races
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game on the PS2 when it originally launched. When Games Workshop announced that his would get a modern release I was ecstatic. For those who are interested in the game, it is an old game, a 23 year old game. So keep that in mind if you are looking to pick this up. It plays a little clunky, but if you tweak the settings in the configuration launcher it can make things feel much better. When you start the game up you'll have the option to play the game or launch the config launcher.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't fully recommend this game. It's a solid story line for sure, but the hitboxes on a lot of the enemies are not what they seem. Really the only reason I picked this title up is for the nostalgia and to finally beat the boss. Played it way back when on the ps2 and had that bug where the final boss couldn't be hit so I just gave up on the game. Sure I could've deleted the save file and restarted but nah. Glad to have beaten it tho! But with all the crappy hit boxes and horrible aim…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's quiet! But in all seriousness what an insane nostalgia trip!!! Just like I remember. Such an underrated game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not only is mouse acceleration a baked-in part of the game, it is some of the most extreme mouse acceleration you've ever seen
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good fun if you enjoy 2000's FPS Fire Warrior is a solid FPS from the early 2000's. Dated? Of course. Hard? At times, Janky? Absolutely. Would I recommend it? Whole heartedly. As an introduction to modern 40K, obviously it lacks certain aspects for more modern appreciators of the hobby. However, those of you that appreciate a little bit of old hammer, it is thoroughly enjoyable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a nostalgia trip, brought me back to early 2000's, comparing this game to modern titles is simply unfair, For the the Emperor!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Never. Ever. Touch. This. Game. Boltgun is the better game and it's worth the price. I am glad I got to play this again, but yeah, this game SUCKS. Of course, this game has a piece of my heart since I played it with family that is no longer here. It’s a bad game, but I deeply love it despite its flaws. I do recommend getting Boltgun if you want a boomer shooter that is a Warhammer game. Also, GW…make more Xenos-releated games please. Even though I love the imperium there is only so much…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even as a T'au fanboy it's really hard to find anything good to say about this game. Some positives: it's mercifully short. 45 minutes of my playtime is leaving the game on when I went to the store. Missions can end very quickly. I think I died maybe a total of 5 times? A few times to Marines, and once because I jumped off an edge to see if that was the way I was supposed to go. The set pieces are interesting, for it's era. The real disappointment is that the game is not even bad, it's just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely not a good game, I've had a weird fixation on it though both as a child and sort of recently. I like the tau, they're neat, but they do not save this from being miserable lol.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"it's quiet" (A Flying insect screaming at top volume comes to touch me) Honestly not bad and enjoyable, everyone saying that it's hard needs to get good 8/10 not bad just old
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If Halo was painfully mediocre. Tau fire WARRIOR HAS NO MUSIC OUTSIDE OF THE CUTSCENES. This game is dead silent outside of the occasional cheap sound effects used. During the opening mission where you think there should be tons of sciwar themed sound effects everything is so eerily quiet. The audio is very bitcrushed even for the time. The mouse by default has this weird issue with weirdly accelerating for large motions but being sluggish for precise motions. Theres also mannable…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I could tell you that this game aged poorly, but it would be wrong. That game was bad from the beginning. Weapons are weak, accuracy is awful, enemies move erratically and pop up everywhere, usually close to you, music is absent (bug or not, I don’t know), voice acting range from okay to bad, checkpoints, the latter levels are painstakingly difficult and those fù?k!ng force fields that pop up just in front of you and kills you instead of just blocking you are just the worst. Such a waste of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a chaos fanboy i am always happy to see the lovable Word Bearers <3 I was too young to play this when it came out. And yeah it's pretty bland. Don't get me wrong! it's always nice to see some love for the other races in Warhammer 40k instead of always loyalist humans. As i love all the races. (T'au. Orks. Aeldari. Tyranids. Necrons) So while this game is really bland i still enjoyed it. So i think 10 euros is fine. (Please one day make a shooter game where we can play as a chaos marine! or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Firewarrior is a aboslute classic and I had a absolute blast playing this game. I can say though it hasn't aged very well even with the re-release. The textures are pretty bad and the audio sounds like complete trash. The gunplay itself is ok but the mouse controls/movement is shocking. Story is ok and the characters pretty forgettable. I kinda thought they would of put more work into the game and at least enchanced some sectors of the game but all they did is make it playable. What a shame.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Phew ok, so this is not a good game, and is objectively incompetent even for the time it came out. That being said, I'm a 40k fan and I have nostalgia for it because I had it on the PS2. I'm not saying there's nothing of value here, or you won't find something to enjoy BUT I am going to tear into it a bit. So like I said, I had this on PS2 back in the day, before I even knew what 40k was (the box art looked badass so I was hopeful). I made it about half way through the game back then before…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not buy until patched properly. Hasn't been fully ported, not all voice lines are in the game. No options to rebind keys, change resolution, etc, and mouse plays as if on controller input. There is no option for controller input. Funny how that works. Since the mouse speed is the same whether you nudge it slightly or swerve it in a 360, you will have a dizzying, eye-imploding time. Yeah. No. Maybe the GOG version is better.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IT'S QUITE- In all honesty, this is a fine rerelease of the game and is far more enjoyable then I had expected. From it's fixed issues, modern widescreen support, enjoyable old fashioned Warhammer visuals, and really neat for any T'au fans who want to experience the world of Warhammer from this factions unique perspective. If these interests you, you will likely have a good time! It's faithful to the original, for best and worst. While the audio levels sound fine, there are still…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game sucks, but I would kill for sequel, even of similar quality. It offers such a unique perspective away from Imperium centered stories, and I would love games like this for other factions. If you don't have a tolerance for old, janky games, then maybe you should give this game a pass, but its a fascinating novelty. One legitimately positive thing I can say about this game is that the Guardsmen you fight aren't Cadians, which is something we will never see again. The novelization is…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible port with a very crispy deep fried audio and an awful set of checkpoints. The only enjoyable part is the W40K settings. Avoid at all costs unless you really enjoy having a tinnitus.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is worse than Haze.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just can't recommend it in the slightest. It is nice to have an old game show up on the Steam store, but my God has this game aged badly. Would love to see something with the same vibe and graphics in the future, following a Tau or Guard taking down something as grand, but this game just is so awful the further you get into the game. I understand some bugs or shortcomings are to be expected, but HOLY EMPEROR do I feel non of the staff actually played the later levels. Guns have like no…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old fart gameplay and graphics, but still a banger game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is jank but in a charming way and I never even played it originally I just like funny old games. Some fixes would've been nice like audio and making it so you can change settings inside the game rather then needing to use the configuration tool, aiming is whack so leave aim assist on and there's some very strange checkpoints and I'm only like 3-4 levels in. All in all I'm looking forward to finishing this. Thank you for finally bringing it to steam I've been waiting on it for a…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →⭐ /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ boring and unconvincing That's the two terms i would use to describe this product. The biggest flaw is probably the gunplay, which lacks in every direction. it lacks punch, half of the time you're randomly missing the shot even when you are aiming correctly. It doesn't help that the gameplay is corroborated by one of the most boring representations of the 40k universe; it created the stereotype of the Tau as a boring faction (and in this game, they are so boring). Last but not least…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10/10 - Better than Combat Evolved For real though, Fire Warrior is one of the games of all time for sure, The only reason I trudged through this one is because I'm a big 40k fan and enjoy the universe. After only briefly playing it a bit when I was younger, it was like experiencing this game for the first time - and boy was it frustrating at times. The game just really feels off at times, especially when it comes to aiming and hit detection. Some enemy spawns in later levels feel…
