unlabelledView post →You're telling me Benedict Cumberbatch, who is the only actor I could name with confidence as being in the cast of 2011 war drama film War Horse, does NOT play the titular horse?
unlabelledView post →Just back from seeing the National Theatre production of War Horse in Plymouth. Bloody hell - I've seen the film and knew a little of what to expect from the stage play but I really wasn't prepared for how emotional, visceral and technically brilliant it is.

unlabelledView post →Tonight’s movie: War Horse (2011). The bloodless storybook version of WWI! Also featuring Cumberborgus Bandersnatch & a spectacular expression from Tom Hiddleston during the charge of the light brigade. Otherwise, I haven’t encountered this much woodenness since that one-night stand in Mexico City
unlabelledView post →I was gutted the first time I saw this ending. On another note my grandfather often told the story of being sent to back up a British cavalry charge during the early days of WWI. Years later I saw the movie War Horse and it was almost beat for best my grandfather’s story.
unlabelledView post →Even kagi is only coughing up a lot of people talking about how many horses *died* in WWI and people asking how accurate War Horse was as a movie for me, sigh.

No it doesn't matter how they're cooked. Movie: War Horse (the book and movie traumatized me) Song: Hotel California -The Eagles

unlabelledView post →Watching War Horse (film) for the first time, and the concept seems to be 'what if everyone was gay for Horse and also There Is A War On.'
unlabelledView post →I think you get this more with Spielberg than almost any other filmmaker. A film like War Horse, which I don’t at all care for, has moments that absolutely fly. And I think the best scene he’s ever directed isn’t even in one of his great films (“Cadillac of the skies!” from Empire of the Sun).
unlabelledView post →War Horse was his Ford movie! Tho oddly it was more like A Quiet Man than anything else, albeit far bleaker.
unlabelledView post →If Disclosure Day is Spielberg's best film in 20 years, that means it's better than War Horse, Lincoln, Bridge of Spies, The Post, West Side Story and The Fabelmans. That's pretty damn good. 😲 Emily Blunt has won SAGs and got an Oscar nomination. #filmsky 📽️ variety.com/2026/film/ne...
unlabelledView post →Rewatching War Horse, first time in a long time. I remain baffled that there are people who think this is lesser Spielberg, or that it's lacking in substance. Only reason this movie isn't a top 10 Spielberg is because he's maybe the best to ever do it and has too many movies that are masterpieces.
unlabelledView post →For me the ultimate case of this is Spielberg's take on War Horse - the theatre production was brilliant, the film was dismal (in spite of featuring some horses I knew as extras) in large part because in order to make the horse "relatable" they just had it doing dog behaviours.
unlabelledView post →One of my coolest movie theater memories is when I saw "War Horse" for the second time in a packed theater. When the movie ended, I clapped and after a minute, everyone else clapped too. Such a wholesome memory.

unlabelledView post →What if an animal started talking out of the blue in a movie with no advertised talking animals. Like War Horse. Someone should try that for fun. If I thought that was a possible thing I’d go to every movie just in case.
unlabelledView post →The movie War Horse isn't casual for me-it's: The reason why I spent 7 years on a horse farm A connection to the idea of loyalty Endurance through absolute chaos That stubborn refusal to give up on something I care about. One day I'll re-watch War Horse. ♥️ #tattoo #horse
unlabelledView post →"War Horse" is such a beautiful WWI movie. First time I saw it, it left me with a throat lump I'd never felt before while watching a movie. Also "The Lost World" gets too much hate IMO. A good sequel to "Jurassic Park" and much better than other films in the franchise.

unlabelledView post →A good direct comparison for that is War Horse. The film version is visually stunning and and directed by possibly the greatest movie director of all time but the theatre version, in its comparative simplicity, just blows you away by how they achieve the same story.
unlabelledView post →There’s a whole play: War Horse. Made into a movie.
unlabelledView post →I’ve never read it! Id love to hear opinions. I have a personal horse movie cinematic universe, and I think black beauty is in the DNA of all of them. Black Beauty, Spirit, and War Horse are the same film.
unlabelledView post →2: “War Horse.” A farmboy’s horse is sold to the British army at the start of WWI, so the film has the horse popping up wherever he’s needed to show all the aspects of the war, both sides of no-man’s land, Forrest Gump-style. Spielberg directed, so he’s got a couple of gorgeous battle set pieces.

unlabelledView post →and actually turns out i was wrong about Crystal Skull being photochemical. it was edited on film, but it was Spielberg's second DI, after The Terminal. War Horse/Tintin were his first edited digitally, and i think War Horse was the last to have a conformed negative made.

unlabelledView post →It's hard to make me cry at a movie, but I confess there are a FEW that get to me. If you're into that kind though, War Horse is one that I'm actually afraid to watch again though I want to SO BAD! It made me cry several times, but it was a great movie. IMO anyway.
unlabelledView post →Fair (in some phases, fronts), but what Hollywood movie shows that, apart from Lawrence of Arabia or the cavalry charge in War Horse? I can't think of one, off the top of my head. I'm sure there are some. #hatm
unlabelledView post →Week 24 of "A new movie every week - 2026" "War Horse" A fantastic movie that triggered my horse allergy...that must be why my eyes got wet. People like to show the tragedy of war through people, but often forget the animals.
