Vertical Limit
Trapped near the summit of K2, the world's second-highest mountain, Annie Garrett radios to base camp for help. Brother Peter hears Annie's message and assembles a team to save her and her group before they succumb to K2's unforgiving elements. But, as Annie lays injured in an icy cavern, the rescuers face several terrifying events that could end the rescue attempt -- and their lives. From TMDB

unlabelledView post →Vertical Limit was a very unrealistic movie for how safe they made the ascent up K2, and how sane they made the climbers.
unlabelledView post →Obsessed with how Temeura Morrison (of Jango/Boba Fett fame) is in the movie Vertical Limit where he plays a Major in the Pakistan Army and absolutely does not even try risking an accent. Just a Māori lad with a helicopter, never you mind how he got there.

I love Alan Ladd & Veronica Lake in both This Gun for Hire and The Glass Key & each movie has great supporting casts. Vertical Limit is great. I particularly liked Scott Glenn in that movie.

The opening scene was hilarious bad acted... what really cracked my shit up was the cut to the bird and dad splatting. LOL in a dead silent theater. youtu.be/ddBYM9J4D2k?...

unlabelledView post →The surprise film is VERTICAL LIMIT, an absolute turkey of a film. Packed house and it’s such a risible film that it turns into a group MST3K experience where we ROASTED the film live. Ended up being tons of fun

unlabelledView post →I saw Vertical Limit in a movie theatre full of climbers. When the hero said, "K2 isn't like other mountains! It's got ice at the top, and snow, and rocks!" someone said a bit too loudly "What does he think is at the top of mountains?" and everyone laughed so hard we missed the rest of the scene.

unlabelledView post →If memory serves there's a Wages of Fear subplot in the cheerfully B-movie-ish Vertical LImit, with canisters of nitro being hauled up K2 in an attempt to free trapped climbers including Bill Paxton in Elon Musk mode. Extra points for a young Ben Mendelsohn on explodey backpack duty.

With wealthy Americans willing to pay millions of dollars for permits to ascend, this could prove lucrative even if some of them are so reckless as to put everyone’s life at risk on their search for adrenalin. THE STORY: A famous female climber gets stuck in an ice cave with two others near the top of K2, the second highest mountain on Earth. Her brother, who has sworn off climbing because of his father's climbing death, has no choice but to assemble a team to rescue the trio. WHAT WORKS: As already mentioned, the opening sequence is…
neutral · AI labelView post →Some parts were dumb (the nitro bombs for instance) and the CGI not always the best (albeit this was 20 years ago, so some forgiveness) but I liked the cast, Bill Paxton, Robin Tunney and Scott Glenn especially, and thought all in all was an entertaining enough survival-thriller. 3.25/5
