(We know the latter will be on everywhere, but it’s very good and we know lots of you would want to see it at Filmhouse rather than elsewhere, so we’d show it!)

unlabelledView post →Just got finished watched Vermiglio, and a few things. 1. It is one of the prettiest movies I’ve ever seen. 2. It is a SLOW BURN. Like, numerous scenes of characters walking or sitting in silence. 3. That movie is devastating. I gave it 4/5 stars.

At the end of WWII, a deserter enters a small Alpine village and changes everyone's lives. Beautiful cinematography.

unlabelledView post →I am pretty much in agreement with you on Enotria, at least the sweeping takes. This: > Ifeel that this game was really close to being something great, jankyness and all, sums up my thoughts too. It's why I said that like, I can't really give it more than 7/10 at a stretch, but I still liked it way more than most 7/10s. It has some Je Ne Sais Quoi factor and charms to it that are compelling. The difficulty spikes I also felt, especially I think Vermiglio and Veltha were really hard for me…

unlabelledView post →Cool! I remember Kim loving VERMIGLIO, too. And yes, Kleber MF is a fascinating filmmaker. As you said before, each individual film appears to be part of larger project about life in Recife. Just realised there was a typo in my previous post (*you enjoyed).

unlabelledView post →We went to see Vermiglio today, a movie about a family in a scattered village in the Italian Alps, set in 1944. They're visited by a Sicilian who has left the war, and the plot revolves around the family and his impact. It's a NYT Critics, deservedly so. On a side note I was reminded of our own

unlabelledView post →Summary: 9/10: a visually stunning, thematically rich meditation on family, power, tradition, and the slow work of change, anchored in historical specificity while speaking to timeless questions about who holds power and at what cost. What appears to be a slice-of-life film based on Maura Delpero's experiences growing up in the Italian Alps reveals itself as something far more complex: a richly layered drama of family life and relationships set at the end of World War II. Delpero herself wasn't…

Maybe not ground breaking but good character study. #DeathOfAUnicorn is amazingly trashy and trope'y new spin on Jurassic Park. Jurassic Park with unicorns what can I say more?
