60 of 397 · most liked firstI genuinely loved V Rising. The combat, castle building, progression, PvP — all of it is incredibly well made, and I put hundreds of hours into the game because I truly enjoyed it. Which is exactly why this feels so awful. I was permanently banned from official servers, not for cheating myself, but because another random player I happened to interact with was apparently cheating. Someone I never played with before or after. According to support, simply continuing to play around that situation…

They can change the rules at any time. They own any "content creator" content. Data collection can still happen whether the game is still installed on your device or not.

If you are a PVE solo player, there is some content for you, however, the game (in terms of combat and builds) ends when it’s at it’s peak, so you don’t have actually a way to enjoy the power-up you got in your adventure. After finishing the game there’s no replay value, since the progression is extremely linear. The combat feels great,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The devs focus on balance for PVP and completely ignore the PVE players. It's a shame because I thoroughly enjoyed the game, but with constant nerfs because of PVP players I can't recommend it. Especially when the developers ignore the PVE players complaints about the nerfs. This game would have benefited greatly from more PVE and RPG elements, not PVP which frankly, is terribly un-enjoyable regardless of buffs or nerfs.

unlabelledView post →220 hours in (most of which were probably spent theorycrafting, building my castle or farming), I've finished everything the game has to offer to a solo player on normal difficulty. I took my time and loved every minute. I've known about the devs since their Battlerite days, and V Rising feels like a spiritual successor to its combat system, with a few caveats after recent updates (nerfed player mobility, bosses still doing parkour). I dove headfirst without any prior knowledge and pretended…

He yells stuff during the battle like 'I'll hammer you out!' and 'I've got the right tool for the job!' Ugh he's hot. Even if you're not typically into survival games, I'd give this one a look - it's bloody fantastic! #nsfw

The first quest is basically: wake up from your coffin and return to that land which was… well, at least close to us on older maps. I learned that reclaiming my old Transylvanian estates doesn’t require diplomacy at all — just a vampire cloak and some basic resources. Castle-building is 10/10, sunlight is 0/10, and the local peasants really don’t…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not Recommended (for solo PvE players) I went into V Rising hoping for a solid solo PvE experience, and after giving it a fair try, I can confidently say this game is simply not designed for players like me. The core issue is that the game is built around constant friction. The sun damage mechanic dominates the experience to the point where you can’t even comfortably stand or manage things in your own base during the day without shelter micromanagement. Instead of adding immersion, it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought V Rising was a fantasy game. But apparently it's just my daily routine. Sunlight? Avoid. Go outside? No thanks. Active at night? Yes. This game didn’t let me roleplay a vampire. It just confirmed that I already am one. 10/10 Most relatable game I've ever played!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so i play V Rising on occasion, a vampire basebuilding game with a very light survival element: you gotta drink blood. I have a prisoner with high quality blood who I occasionally drain. I also sometimes just walk away from my computer for hours at a time sometimes so this keeps happening
unlabelledView post →The game itself is great, nice mechanics and atmosphere, gradually growing in power and basebuilding is awesome. The issue that killed it for me is the forced play. Was already a bit burned out on it, but I couldn't play for a few weeks and when I returned EVERYTHING I had built was gone. Had no idea it would happen, knew about the base decay mechanics but the landscape was full of bases that seemed 'dormant' so I thought the worst that would happen is I would have to re-unlock some stuff.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is great, lots of content, you can be a rat and prank peasants with bowl cuts It is a complete, finished game with a lot of things to do; if anyone tells you it's "abandoned," then they don't know what that word means, and they need to stop thinking of everything like a perpetual live service game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I found V Rising to be a surprisingly good game. Why surprising? Well, I wasn't expecting much. I never heard of Stunlock Studios before, and only bought it because it was going cheap and a friend recommended it (for the base building). The graphics are the first thing that struck me. They're pretty simple, but the style the devs used is very effective and the result looks stunning. The appearance of this game will age well. The combat is a lot of fun. There's a large variety of weapons,…

There is no need for a casual playthrough to have long crafting times or for items to restrict teleporting if its going to negatively affect your experience. PVP servers can use these to force player interaction and keep risk involved. Bored of grinding resources? Increase the resource yield. Tired of waiting for Rift Incursions? Increase the frequency and decrease the wait. Tired of spending all of your time avoiding the sun? Tweak the…

unlabelledView post →Unfortunately there's not a "meh" button. The core gameplay is decent but the continued ignoring of QOL things like fixing the stair issue where you have to dismantle your entire castle simply to remove stairs or not being able to toggle either your camera or your building toggles to adjust to floor level versus a second floor level view is enough to disappoint me for investing in the game. For a game whose entire premise hinges on crafting, the crafting is not really executed in a way that's…

You're going to spend hours if not days chopping down trees and smashing rocks (among other materials) and further refining them into other parts to build all the parts of your castle and your equipment. You'll have rooms or maybe an entire floor dedicated to refining materials. Then you'll find a nicer spot to build your castle and do it again. You are a vampire though so that's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having fully finished V Rising I can confidently say that it is one of the best open world survival craft games. From a nice blend of survival/crafting and ARPG to great atmosphere of being a vampire in a hostile world, prowling for blood (hopefully the good quality) was a blast to play. Let's break it down briefly: The game plays and looks amazing, I absolutely adore the art style, animations, and effects. Combine this with the smoothness of the combat, a myriad of spells and weapons to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This would be a good game, if it were a game. This is not a game. This is a full time job, a fun job, but a job none the less. You spend time building and babysitting a castle. You have to spend hours playing before upgrading your castle to store a decent amount of blood. Stop playing for 3 days, all your progress is gone. Even when maxed out, you can only store 7 days of blood. Basically this is a game you have to play, at least a couple hours bi-weekly, or you lose all your progress. I can't…

unlabelledView post →V Rising honestly is one of the best survival experiences out there, in my opinion. It kind of builds on the usual foundations you already know from the genre but it also has this strong identity, the atmosphere, and a very clear dedication to the vampire fantasy so it never really feels like yet another copy, in a sea of overcrowded releases. In a genre where a lot of titles blend together, V Rising kind of slips through and finds its own spot, and it does it in a way that leaves a mark, for…

unlabelledView post →V Rising is one of those games where you log in “just for a couple of hours” and suddenly it’s already late at night 😄 I really liked the atmosphere: the music, the world design, the castles, the nighttime runs — everything feels super immersive. The combat is also really satisfying, especially once you start experimenting with different abilities and weapon combinations ⚔️ But honestly, the game shines the most when you play with someone else. Solo is still fun, but with friends it feels…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I ended up kind of hating this game. It might be more of a preference thing, but I didn't find the loop very satisfying. I think it was pretty good for the initial part of my Castle build, but constantly being faced with three or four new things to farm each time I gain a new item to be able to make was frustrating. I felt like the ratio of work to new item got worse as I kept going. As opposed if that type of loop is your thing, the combat was pretty fun and I did like a lot of the aesthetic…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game goes on my recommendation list for anyone looking for a challenge in a vampire, action oriented game. I would play this solo or with people (whichever you enjoy the most), with the caveat that I have not played it with PvP enabled. This game provides a variety of challenges depending on how difficult you want to make it and playing it multiple times allowed me to enjoy the game prior to release and after to see what they have added. NEW weapons, bosses, gear, and more provided an…

My time spent on this game is what I would say is probably reasonable to expect the amount of time you will have to put in to complete it on default settings. It was pretty fun overall, I don't regret purchasing the game, however, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone in good conscious. This game feels really unique in offering an interesting 'power fantasy' style of a vampire game. The castle building is is good enough to have fun with, and I will…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The storyline could be better. The gameplay is great and I didn't run into any bugs. Building your castle is a cool feature. I am enjoying the game and I have almost beat it in about 50 hours of gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a trip. Over 100 hours of vampire energy. It was deliciously tortured. TL;DR? Yeah, fun game. Buy it. ILL,LMR: I bought this on a deep sale and it sat in the pile for a long time. Much like the plot of V Rising itself, the game was resurrected from the depths of my backlog to rise as.. this game I played a lot of. I've played many games over many decades. I also knocked about with Vampire LARPers in the 90s (it was cool, they LARPed all over downtown) and learned a surprisingly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm actually sad that I finished this game. Every aspect of it was incredibly enjoyable: farming loop, crafting system, decoration variety, combat and RPG element's complexity, world design/biomes and graphics in general, combat and gear variety. Could say a lot of things about this game, but here come some of my accurate thoughts: Imagine Rust and Diablo had a baby; Climbing to the next tier makes you feel unstoppable; Holy weapon and skill variety, combined with gems. I had no…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've 100%ed the game (all achievements, everything beaten on brutal, all content explored, and did a good chunk of arena pvp) If you like vampires its the best game you can find. - Great base-building - Lots of weapons and skills to combine and play around with - Plenty of bosses that scale in difficulty, 5 "Super" bosses - Can PVP if you wish to, but it's not mandatory, Arena mode is godlike, raiding sucks a bit imo, needs an update - Great even just as a Co-op PVE game to go through…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played it on brutal/100+ Hours on first playthrough/100% Completed. I more than got my moneys worth and then some. I had been wanting to scratch a vampire itch for awhile now and have always been on the fence about this game. The appeal of facing tons of bosses, building my own castle, and slowly but surely becoming the number 1 vampire was so alluring. PVE, PVP, or SOLO? - I played on a PVE sever, so no fighting other players. Which, if all you want to focus on is the bosses and castle…

You spend your time dodging the sun, hunting specific blood types, and farming materials to expand your base. The castle design system is excellent. It gives you full control to build a massive gothic mansion. The different vampire abilities you unlock from bosses will feel lore friendly Then there is the drip. Man, the drip. Even the early tier 2 armor is…

The daylight mechanic keeps you on edge, and the progression loop is addictive from start to endgame. I love it so much that I've played through it on two separate accounts. A must-play for ARPG…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best games of its genre, mixing easily an A tier basebuilding mechanic, good combat (for the most part), satisfying resource collection, interesting exploration, and a good mix of bosses. 8/10. --- V Rising is an exceedingly solid experience, especially with a little tweaking of the settings. The game consists of a relatively standard progression system through a pre-designed world with several biomes with a small degree of randomization to keep things a little fresh. You move…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game. A bit too easy even on brutal. Needs more PvE content and Impossible difficulty. PvP is ok, just the usually higher level lurkers and cowards waiting for you at ore spots and attacking you while doing bosses, often in 2v1 battles, preventing you from leveling up too much too quick, are a nuisance. Server resets are annoying, having to re-farm everything again is not my kind of play, but you can host your own game thankfully.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the greatest games I've ever played. It was an honor to see this game progress and become something truly amazing. Although there will be no more updates, I still recommend this to anyone who is bored of gaming and wants to feel something again. I've met some of my best friends through this game, while others have taught me the ins and outs of the vampire world. V Rising is much more than just a game, its an escape from reality. Somewhere you can truly unlock your potential and become…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The devs keep insisting, via patch notes, that PvE players are to be loathed. Change after change after change, all reducing general combat gameplay in order to make the minority of players who play PvP have a better time. So much of the game is just unfun to play because you feel like you are forced to use weapons that are balanced to be good for PvP, when all you want to do is kill bosses and live the fantasy of being a vampire and building a castle. Until some major changes happen, I just…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of those games that are really fun but with lots of problems, both obvious and more subtle. The progression is really fun at first but, as with most grind games, it falls off the further you get. The biggest factor of how strong you are is, either the game's decision to lock improvements behind far off bosses, or behind rng of blood quality, drop rate and trait rolls. This makes the progression both linear and tedious at times. There is also the issue of additions that were…

When I first tried it I went to public server bcs I didn't have anyone to play with. Without understanding anything I progressed to the point where I was supposed to build a castle. Then I noticed the server is full and stopped playing. The next day I gave another shot and went to another server where was room for a new castle. I built something and…

I recommend playing the game on brutal for a more challenging experience. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the game to completion in PVE only co-op and found it to be highly enjoyable with some notable caveats. The general gameplay feels really nice, having a good blend of crafting/survival and an extremely tight combat system. In particular, I had a lot of fun designing and decorating our castle, and many of the boss fights were excellent. The game also offered many settings for changing the rules, which meant we had a little control in mitigating certain things we found amiss like the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game. I love vampire mythology and after years of playing the Dungeon Siege & Diablo franchises from the beginning, this game seemed, on the outside, like a truly fantastic dungeon crawler/slasher with survival crafting and building that would scratch the itches. After almost 70 hours of gameplay, I find myself annoyed. Constantly annoyed. Even on Normal Difficulty. Some slasher games succeed in role playing as playstyle based character type with deep…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're looking for a vampire themed survival game, V Rising delivers a very good multiplayer experience. I highly recommend playing it with other people, as the game is primarily focused on the PvP aspect. That said, you can also enjoy it as a pure PvE game on your own private server. Solo play is viable too, it's just more grindy, and you'll be missing out on the main aspect of the game. The soundtrack is pleasantly chill, setting a relaxed atmosphere that fits the gothic aesthetic well.…
