So I've been aware of this game years prior and I was excited when I saw that the game finally released. Sadly, I was pretty disappointed. The Positive THE LORE: The world sounds rich and alive. Lots of places to explore and things to learn. VISUALS: The pixel art in this game is on point and works well to tell the story of this weird world. CHARACTER DESIGN: The characters looks sharp. I also loved the idea of crafting new organs for my character. The Negative THE OMNIPRESENT NEGATIVE…

original kickstarter here. they still never mailed me my stuff. even after I was in emails back and forth with developers and they have my address...I got one of the big packs and I'm supposed to get an artbook and several other things. They only emailed me a couple of keys.. I can't recommend this game till the ones who made it exhibit enough honor to mail me my stuff

I really wanted to like this game. The graphics, story concept, rpg elements, they are great. The problem is everything is just… not thought through? Maybe the developers had very limited testing input? Difficulty: So for starters, it’s been beaten to death already but the difficulty is insane by default. What happens is each enemy that hits you with any attack gets a percentage damage boost (stacking up to 5x). Meanwhile, if you take fatal damage you lose an organ which makes you weaker until…

Review copy provided by publisher I hate to see ambition trip over its own feet right out of the gate, but it’s all too common a fate with promising indie games. Sometimes it feels like systems and challenges get added to games because they sounded neat, not because they really add to the overall structure of the experience. I went into Undungeon with a lot of curiosity, which was almost immediately buried by an avalanche of game mechanics and world building that didn’t really add anything to…

After playing for a good while, what I would consider a length of time where I should be at least at the second level, this game seems to over-stay its welcome. The game is challenging, dont get me wrong, but i feel like that challenge comes from the age old "just give em more health and damage" school of difficulty scaling. I hoped we would have moved past this by now, but with enemies in the first level taking a full minute to kill in some instances, the combat feels like you get your feet…

Certainly weirdly captivating. The mish-mashy artstyle is not something I like but it has a lot of systems to build your character around. I do recommend the game if you can bear quite a lot of annoyingly punishing and time wasting systems if you """die""" In this game you an harvest organs and upgrade your innards in a Biopunk fashion, those items break and heal you to full when you lose all your health so you have more chances to fight after a "loss" Thing is usually when you die it's in the…

Absolutely do not buy this game. Here is why. The game itself, so pretty, good UI, runes, items, good story, dialogue, etc.. The dev is a deceiving and promised so much more on release and gave none of what he said he would. I asked him the other day if he was planning on adding the promise heralds (different characters) and he basically said no. The combat is the most lackluster boring combat compared to every other aspect of the game. So, unfortunately, save yourself the time and don't buy it…

Video review: https://youtu.be/PjdJHXimcw4 * Deep and interesting sci-fi story * Beautiful pixel art and great character design * Fun combat with innovative mechanics (organ transplantation, steal healing items from enemies, their damage multiplies on successful hits) * Plenty of customization * Great soundtrack * Overpowered equipment * Repetitive enemies and locations * Jerky character animation * 2 characters & biomes instead of 7 that were pitched on Kickstarter

Undungeon is a remarkable game, chock-full of all manner of unique things--boldly experimental and unapologetically unafraid to lean into its singular design choices, presenting them as they are and at times distinctly without polish. Unfortunately, the same could be said of a "deconstructed" sandwich containing marshmallow fluff, Vegemite, kimchi, kale, rainbow sprinkles, and lutefisk, with peanut brickle "bread," its parts whimsically interspersed on your table amidst a sculpture made of the…

As one of the original backers, I am very disappointed with the final product. We were promised seven characters: We got two. And that sums up the entirety of the game. All of the mechanics feel like they are "half done" - yes the pixel-art animations are pretty, but they are so few of them that you will be terribly bored of that animation when it repeats for the 10,000th time to just kill one mini-boss style enemy. The combat system seems like it could be interesting and multi-faceted, but…

Really disappointed. Been waiting for this one for a long time and they finally delivered a game that is not what was promised. TWO characters?!? What in the hell happened? And you can't even choose which one you want to be from the start. Combat is bland, which is unforgivable in an aRPG. That's all there is to do in the game! I am so horribly disappointed by this game. What happened to your vision, devs? What in the hell happened?

undungeon is a strange game. it does all the difficult things right- pixel art, sound design, and theme are all top notch for a game made by such a small dev team. but, it does so many basic things wrong. the gameplay is a chore, the U/I is a mess, and the skill tree is unnecessarily complicated. it absolutely grabbed me in the first 15 minutes, but after 3 hours i was ready for the game to be over. luckily, the game is short (3-8hrs depending on familiarity) and unfinished. it ends…

I played this game for about and hour and gameplay felt too bland to continue. Story intrigued me, but not enough to continue playing. Gameplay (6/10) Combat is the first element of gameplay I care about and it's very bland. Basic - you only get basic attack, dodge and shield gadget with infinite uses.... oh and a stamina bar, because everything needs a stamina bar nowadays. For the record: you can land something like 3x4 hit combos and a few dodges on a full stamina bar and it recharges…

Let's discuss the elephant in the room first -- this release is but a fraction of the hype that it was when it started as a Kickstarter project. I wasn't able to back it then, and I'm sure a lot of people would say that I was lucky I didn't. I was super excited with the working concept of the game, and was looking forward to the different characters and worlds that players could possibly visit. However, for some reason this is what was delivered. It's not a complete loss -- the world…

Game is finished in the sense that there is a programmed end with somewhat satisfactory narrative conclusion. But it's obvious that a lot of content, player characters, quests, was cut from the game. Now I searched the discussion area and I found talk about the publisher pushing out the person responsible for the game. I won't side with anyone, there's clear evidence that the game had disturbed development. Suggest buying during a sale.

Beautiful World and some amazing concepts, but by god these guys could write a book on how to make gameplay and combat unsatisfying and unfun: 1) when you die it wipes your progress back to your last save, rather than just respawning you with some penalty. This wouldnt be so bad if you could just save from the menu, but you have to go to specific map locations and interact with certain objects. 2) Enemies get stronger as they damage you and you get weaker as you get damaged, this is just…

That does not mean the game is bad, but it is not where the players who supported the kickstarter wanted the game to be. The game is rough but the combat is all backwards. Making the game more difficult when you get hit by an enemy is nuts! I don't really know what that game is supposed to be. Gameplay reminds me of Transistor and Bastion - you fight groups of mobs in a confined space in a sort of isometric viewpoint. There are many elements - weapons, armor, organs, grenades and knives - all of that can be equipped, traded and crafted. But it felt like they barely impact the gameplay. Weapons, in essence, only changed the amount of clicks you do - two or three. Different effects on knives and nades didn't feel like they are…

I picked this game up on whim for the advertised sci-fi elements in an action rpg. It is a interesting story with good looking character designs and pretty pixel art. The rpg elements come from the questing and dialogue options where it seems you have the choice of either completing them or not and that influences the worlds karma. Your character can be modified by the different organs you put in, which mainly seem to be stat boosting and number manipulation to get higher damage, same with…

Visually gorgeous, nice writing and unsatisfying gameplay. There are a combination of things at work as to why Undungeon failed to catch me. Firstly, I felt like it was the sort of game that would've benefited from zooming out the view about 50%, like, yeah, I know you want me to catch all the sweet detail on these sprites you've clearly worked a lot on, but when my honking gigantic character sprite takes up a tenth of the playscreen by himself, it's clearly a bit much. The games visuals, writing and world building are top notch and sound design was overall good. It sadly is not enough to excuse a very shallow gameplay loop, very basic and uninspired quest design that doesn't do much of anything to shake it up at all and then repeats the whole loop a second time. I couldn't imagine playing the game at it's launch difficulty and how more unfun it would be. It should have advertised itself as more of a roguelike than as an rpg. It would at least feel more…

This game is disappointing, it has a lot of grammatical errors which makes the story hard to follow. The action/game play is shallow, repetitive, and difficult to control. A lot of the characters writing is shallow. The upgrade/items/level up is confusing, and opaque. :/ I've never actively quit playing a game I've bought but i guess there is a first for everything.

I was originally very excited for this game because of it's action dungeon crawler elements and because of the idea of having the story revolve around multiverses but it was very poorly executed. The controls feels clumsy and heavy, the default difficulty itself is too hard and everything is just put together very badly in my opinion. There is a very good potential and the concept is good but it would have to be worked on more for me to at least give it another chance.

It's got the bones of a good game but just isn't. Between weapon functionality being just bad in many cases and missing entire explanations of basic abilities, it makes it very hard to start having any amount of fun rather than feeling like you are fighting against the developers. Undungeon has a mark system, where the player gets marked upon taking a hit. This is executed terribly, because when you take status effects after the fact, the battle has already been decided at that point. A 2D Isometric stabby slashy game with a bit of a difficult initial curve with regards to the organ damage mechanic, but eventually it all clicks and the great art design and somewhat interesting world come together. It's not for everyone, and it definitely has its frustrating moments, but it's worth a go. Whilst I'm disappointed we didn't get everything promised in the Kickstarter, hopefully we'll see some of that as addons or something in the future.
