positive · AI labelView post →Finding out “this is how I win” from Uncut Gems was a line Sandler came up with himself is blowing my mind. I cannot imagine the movie without it
positive · AI labelView post →Haven’t seen this movie, but I recently (finally) watched “Uncut Gems” and had the same reaction to Sandler as I did to ScarJo when I saw “Under The Skin:” — if this had been the debut of either actor, they would have been immediately hailed as some of the greatest we have.
positive · AI labelView post →“Anora” is such an incredible movie; as tense and anxiety inducing as Uncut Gems and some of the best performances I’ve seen in recent memory. Go see it with your parents after thanksgiving dinner 👍
neutral · AI labelView post →"If I taught cinema, I’d spend a couple of classes on Uncut Gems, The Smashing Machine, and Marty Supreme. It’d be a perfect way to demonstrate the importance of pace, the energy that a camera move can bring to a motion picture." ICYMI @sonnybunch.bsky.social: lnk.thebulwark.com/4scLMNr
neutral · AI labelView post →I will say that Part 2 features the single most stressful scene in a film I have ever seen (Kay telling Michael about the abortion), it took Uncut Gems like two hours to do what Diane Keaton did in ten minutes
neutral · AI labelView post →Dicaprio is probably the more accurate, but even then he has his share of meh movies. Cage is also pretty accurate, he is really good when the role fits his style, otherwise he is so cringe. His acting in Pig is incredible. Depp is IMO super overrated. He was really good in Fear and Loathing, Donnie Brasco or Edward Scissorhands, but since Pirates of the Caribbean he mostly played some variations of Jack Sparrow. Sandler is actually a fucking good actor, but he always chooses the lazy way…
neutral · AI labelView post →this sports betting explosion and the way it's advertised as making life More Fun makes me think a lot of people saw Uncut Gems as a movie about a laid back dude having the best week ever
neutral · AI labelView post →Cats, we went because we thought it would be funny but then it was so bad it just became deeply uncomfortable. We decided to try again a few days later with a make-up movie: Uncut Gems. Which promptly became my SECOND worst movie date ever
negative · AI labelView post →sports betting should work exactly like it does in the film UNCUT GEMS. that was aspirational. that’s what we lost
positive · AI labelView post →Strange to me that so much of the messaging around this film—and the resulting discourse—was about accurately portraying sex workers’ experiences when it feels much more an Uncut Gems esque “New York is insane” movie to me
neutral · AI labelView post →this movie is Uncut Gems for anime pervert figurines. incredible
neutral · AI labelView post →Good morning. I wrote a guest essay for the New York Times about the rise of "anxiety cinema," from Uncut Gems to Shiva Baby to If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. I argue that the more daily life feels like a panic attack, the more the great movies of our time are reflecting that feeling back at us:
neutral · AI labelView post →man Uncut Gems was a good movie
positive · AI labelView post →It started with an Uncut Gems review with a low score that was basically just “The movie made me uncomfortable.” Then he started complaining about it and locked on to someone in chat who wanted to argue with him until it got to this point.
neutral · AI labelView post →Another day, another movie merch white whale: the sold out UNCUT GEMS basketball from the A24 shop.
neutral · AI labelView post →I literally saw the premiere of Uncut Gems at TIFF in 2019 with the full cast and crew discussion afterwards and the star-studded after-party but felt like I had a panic attack the entire time of the movie so I will be passing on this
negative · AI labelView post →Uncut Gems was a better movie but Marty Supreme motivated me to become more insane and change my life
positive · AI labelView post →It’s impossible to evaluate Happy Gilmore 2 without remembering Adam Sandler’s promise to make the worst movie anyone had ever seen after not getting nominated for Uncut Gems
neutral · AI labelView post →For Passover I’ll be rewatching Uncut Gems, a Passover movie, which includes my favorite seder scene of all time, in which the family patriarch gets ready to hide the Afikomen
positive · AI labelView post →Even though it takes place in 2012, Uncut Gems feels like the defining film of the Trump era.
positive · AI labelView post →we’re snorting coke off the blade of an in-motion helicopter propeller this week at GOOD MOVIE friday 9.12 Uncut Gems do not miss this one goodmovie.substack.com/subscribe
neutral · AI labelView post →Long Goodbye is my favorite movie but my avi is from California Split which you all gotta watch if you like Elliott Gould and Robert Altman, it's up there with The Gambler and Uncut Gems in the pantheon of great gambling flicks
neutral · AI labelView post →Thats kinda hard to say tbh... I think Adam Sandler is a good example of an actor who CAN play more than one role (Uncut Gems as an example) but mostly only does movies that are all the same role.
neutral · AI labelView post →The exception to the rule being UNCUT GEMS, a film about an extremely unwell man
neutral · AI labelView post →Finally got around to watching Uncut Gems. What a nice relaxing movie!
negative · AI labelView post →Uncut Gems is a movie about dudes with floppy foreskins
neutral · AI labelView post →I’ve been watching S3 of Industry (as a fun break??) & it would be a solid addition to the Uncut Gems Marty Supreme breakdown film festival
neutral · AI labelView post →The movie Uncut Gems is so relatable to me cuz I’m currently locked inside my trunk naked
positive · AI labelView post →Without saying Uncut Gems, fav Adam Sandler Film?
neutral · AI labelView post →The movie Uncut Gems is so relatable to me cuz I’m currently locked in my trunk naked
unlabelledView post →Just watched the movie "Mother!" First half felt like Uncut Gems for suburban moms.
unlabelledView post →Uncut Gems is a Passover movie.
unlabelledView post →Anora is currently in fifth place right now behind Uncut Gems and The Wolf of Wall Street in terms of films that most frequently use the word "fuck." So I compiled every single usage of the word in the film to verify the count. *Spoiler warning, obviously* youtu.be/FzrGXgfo-BE
unlabelledView post →Subway closed down because of the snowstorm on my way home from Marty Supreme, thanks to the movie I wasn’t at all stressed about it since the anxiety levels in Marty Supreme made Uncut Gems feel like My Neighbor Totoro lol
unlabelledView post →Mary Bronstein’s #IfIHadLegsIdKickYou is a harrowing, visceral survivalist horror film about motherhood that goes 100mph, teetering on a razor’s edge. UNCUT GEMS meets PARENTHOOD & NIGHTBITCH. Rose Byrne delivers a fearless, perfectly prickly performance. Immersive sound design.
unlabelledView post →Uncut Gems. Brilliant film. Totally shut out at the Oscars. And Adam Sandler (I cannot believe I’m saying this) deserved a Best Actor nomination, and I think only didn’t get one because he’s Adam Sandler.
unlabelledView post →Adam Sandler in Uncut Gems and Will Farrell in Everything Must Go+Stranger Than Fiction were different performances than their usual and really well acted. Kevin James... I don't think I've yet to see him in any different role
unlabelledView post →Marty Supreme: A movie for people who thought Uncut Gems was too chill. My review:
unlabelledView post →If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, with Rose Byrne as the wildly dysfunctional mother of a chronically ill child, has been described as "Uncut Gems for motherhood," & like that film, Mary Bronstein's psychological thriller isn't afraid to go there--but where exactly _does_ it go? slate.com/culture/2025...
unlabelledView post →What's the most stressful film you've ever watched? I'll start with the hands down winner: Uncut Gems #scriptsky
unlabelledView post →Full Time (A plein temps) - Eric Gravel, 2022. I love a small, well-turned film, and this one is so smart, anchored in the political, and deeply stressful in a way to match Uncut Gems, in the way it addresses the world of work. Laure Calamy is one of our finest actors, superb as ever here.
unlabelledView post →Adam Sandler in “Uncut Gems.” Usually I don’t like him, but he’s so freaking good in that movie.
unlabelledView post →I don't mean "this movie was a nightmare" in the sense that it was bad. Far from it, it was a phenomenal film. Thing is, if you've seen "Uncut Gems" or "Good Time", it's the same ballpark. Fantastic music, cinematography, acting, writing, everything about it was a winner to me.
unlabelledView post →I was just looking up a list of the greatest sports movies -- my favorites are 1) Rocky, 2) Rudy, 3) Rocky IV, 4) Hoosiers, 5) Slap Shot -- and I didn't realize that some people treat "sports movie" as loosely as "Christmas movie," making Big Lebowski and Uncut Gems hilarious contenders.
unlabelledView post →most stressful movie since Uncut Gems
unlabelledView post →Short film about trying to find the one dude at the kink party with a foreskin, call it "Uncut Gems"
unlabelledView post →Marty Supreme is like if Catch Me If You Can and Uncut Gems had a film baby where the lead is played by the mouse from American Tale but he has a little moustache, or mouse-tache, if you will. Just one maniac. 8/10 x
unlabelledView post →My favorite 21C film is UNCUT GEMS and my dad, Jewish, was Minnesota's top table tennis player in, like, 1972, so to say I'm stoked for szechuan and MARTY SUPREME on Xmas is a huge fucking understatement
unlabelledView post →Superman (2025), Parasite (2019) and Uncut Gems (2019) for this week’s movie marathon. The common theme turned out to be dangerous rocks.
unlabelledView post →People kept telling me Uncut Gems was a two hour anxiety attack but that ENTIRE movie couldn’t TOUCH the feeling of these three minutes.
unlabelledView post →Really great. Comparisons to Uncut Gems or speculation that this is sort of a horror film (maybe they sold it that way) or “anxiety movie” are really off base. It’s about life, it’s a sequence of events that is real and relatable to me in so many ways. When it ended I wanted more. 10/10
unlabelledView post →This film refines the Uncut Gems/Good Time formula to a T, delivering possibly the best character in a Safdie film, with consistently fantastic editing and pacing, plus another incredible Lopatin score. Definitely adding this to my best of the 2020s list.
unlabelledView post →Trying to think of a movie that puts me more on edge than Uncut Gems. Hard to come up with one.
unlabelledView post →I would agree with this statement. Adam Sandler can act really act in dramatic roles (Punch-Drunk-Love, Reign over Me, Uncut Gems, etc) When Sandler produces a comedy, yeah; it tends to be bad. When Sandler is just the actor, it's a different story. Props to Sandler to realizing that movie studios will pay him money to go on location to shoot movies and hire his friends.
unlabelledView post →Uncut Gems. Fantastic movie, it’s watching a panic attack though
unlabelledView post →I’m not one to call something I hated objectively bad, but I will absolutely say I was pissed off every time there was a loud boom and that I got really tired of the constant yelling. It reminded me of Uncut Gems in the whole “two hour yelling monologue from career movie star guy” way.
unlabelledView post →This sadly isn't new, the amount of times I've seen a negative review because the film was successful at its aims. "erm I didn't like Uncut Gems because it made me feel anxious". Did it? Woah what a fuck up by the film makers.
unlabelledView post →who are the all-time great “playing themselves in a movie”-ers? my first thought is Kevin Garnett in “Uncut Gems”
unlabelledView post →Friend, if you haven’t yet, give yourself a little treat and watch Good Time, the Safdies’ film starring a magnetic Pattinson, just before they made Uncut Gems.
