Ignore any reviews from before Sept 2021. The developer made a huge mistake in not publishing smaller updates, but that doesn't matter to you now because the content is here and the full campaign is a ton of fun! The game itself is a fantastic village management game but in VR, which is something I've been craving for a long while! It's done quite well, and though there are a few bugs as of me writing this I believe they will be patched shortly. Both resource and production management…

As of writing, It's the end of September 2021 and they finally dropped a huge content dump. People can remove the tin hats and ease off talk of the game being a scam, which should be a relief to everyone. As far as content goes, it's changed significantly and has not only redeemed itself for the 2 year silence, but has surpassed expectations. Looking at the discussion forums and news threads, it appears the latest update has pleased many of the original backers. If you were unsure of the…

Finally a game that keeps me enjoying VR again. It is basically a mixture between "Black & White" (without magic and animal) and settlers. It is very fun to micromanage the s**t out of your production lines. It is very slow paced, but when you get the hang of it, you can speed up things fast. Building things is a lot of fun, as you support everything with your own manual labour. Cons: - There is no warehouse. Goods, like leather disapear if not used. - The AI does not prioritize tasks very…

not much variety, after the third map you have done all there is to do. the tutorial then makes you do all the boring basic crap over and over instead of letting you enjoy the end game. there is no road map and the developer has abandoned all of his games so I don't recommend this unless you can get it for 15 dollars.

I was expecting Black&White in vr and to an extent i guess it is but it's inferior. There is simply not enough to do during downtime when your villagers work. If you have played some vr and it no longer feels magical thenn game will get boring really fast

One of the games that you are afraid that you will have completed it soon. I really wish there were more strategy / resource management games in VR. I would buy a Townsmen VR 2 immediately. It's extremely relaxing to just watch your people being busy and carrying around resources. I can really recommend this game to everyone who owns a VR headset. It's not as complicated as many other strategy games, everything is explained very well.

Its a fun game, i honestly dont have a single criticism I enjoyed playing it. But why im posting a negative review is because it is insanely overpriced. For the ammount of fun I got I wouldent pay a dime over 10 dollars. After only about one hour I did all there is to do in this game, completed like 2 maps and quickly got bored.

Finished! I need a second game or a DLC if I they release it: Townsmen VR is one of those games that really shows what virtual reality can do when it’s done right. You’re not just clicking menus or managing from a distance — you’re in the world, physically picking up villagers, moving buildings around, and interacting with everything like a giant god in a medieval diorama. The game strikes a great balance between being fun and relaxing, while still offering a decent level of challenge.…

Well. They finally actually made a real game instead of having an unfinished 25 dollar demo posted for years with barely any communication. And the game they've made? It's pretty good! Watching your little villagers run around is endearing. There's a decent variety of buildings and things you need to plop down. It's the only VR game in this genre that I'm aware of which is any good. There's a decent amount of levels which do force you to change up the way you prioritize what to build. And that…

I've played dozens of VR games across multiple platforms, and this is the *first* one to get me into a genuine flow-state. Devs obviously invested a lot of time into R&D for the tutorial and UI, because It feels intuitive and seamless to navigate. (A rarity in VR titles) The only hiccup in playing is some unintended jank that occurs when scaling yourself. You have to be very mindful of where your hands are; it you're not careful, collisions with your hands and townsfolk will send them hurtling…

Underworld Overseer brings dungeon keeping to Quest & PC-VR this fall. You take on the role of the eponymous Overseer who, with the help of an army of minions, must design a dungeon and build deadly traps to protect it from intruders. You can also cast powerful spells to defend your dungeon. These include fireballs, chain lightning, and skeleton raising. Your demonic minions can build tunnels and chambers for you, but they need to be kept happy. The happier your minions are, the better your…

I just got into VR so I guess I'm not salty like older reviewers. I also might be a bit awestruck at what I've been missing with vr this whole time. I've only played the latest version of this game(11/28/2021) so I'm not sure what those reviewers experienced to cause all the hate. This game is pretty neat. Images cannot do this a justice. When playing the game, what's showing on my monitor doesn't even do it a justice. You need to see it in VR. Zooming is great to look at. Zooming out…

Well, it's finally a Game now! But it's still a tiny miniture of what even a Settlers game is, and we dont wanna start compare this to Anno. So, I think the 30€ pricetag is a little steep... we are still in Early Access. Since I got it pretty cheap before the price increase, I'll recommend it. Maybe see what the price on sale will be like...

Barely played the game and while it seems to have a lot of potential I've come across a glaring flaw already. Why do developers think they need to reinvent the wheel? With this game it's the controls. Every controller game I've ever played uses the little joysticks for movement and the buttons to select and move around your option menus. This game? Use the joysticks for menu selection and the side buttons with hand movements for movement. Sure it's VR, I get that. But man, it's so counter…

I am enjoying the game and feels like playing black and white again! With a mix of banished. Loving that part. I can't say much about earlier versions but as of right now it is fun and have not encountered anything that prevents me from playing. I am only on the 3rd island though. I hope in the future a skirmish mode or freeplay/creative mode would be available. It's worth getting in my opinion. Long enough story, looks great, fun to play and manage the town. But it is solid gameplay built totally around VR so I can overlook the hiccups. Definitely recommended as a must buy for VR players. Had lots of fun.

100% ABANDONED WARE this game at best is a tech demo. It has the same update cycle as CubeWorld. AVOID this game at all costs the devs keep pushing the "update" back with each new message. I did everything the game has to offer with in 1 hour of play. it is not worth the price it is at. Avoid their whole library of games. they seem to do the same across all their games look at Devil and the Fairy.

After just finishing the campaign, I can say this is the best city builder/RTS game I've played on VR so far. It's by no means perfect. That didn't discourage me from thoroughly enjoying the game. The graphics, voice acting, controls and mechanics are well polished (with a few minor hiccups here and there, nothing game breaking or off-putting). It's hilarious to kick away the people :D The campaign is more like a very long tutorial, but I like the story and had so much fun building the settlements on the islands. Pretty standard city builder in terms of mechanics. Seems to have a good story so far as well as a good amount of depth. Oh, and really good VR gameplay of course! The VR controls are well thought out and really integrate well into the city builder mechanics. Townsmen VR is almost an entirely interactively simulated world set in medieval times, where you effectively take the role of God working to help your people to survive and thrive during this crazy time. The game takes the classic city building game and flips on its head by firstly being in VR but also adds various and interactive game-play mechanics, which I won’t spoil. The biggest downside is that it's really slow and things take a long time to happen and it's hardly any challenge, but it's really satisfying to grow your town and watch things happen and the campaign is nice so far. As it is, there is not an extensive playthrough: essentially you are paying $10 USD for the TUTORIAL level of a relatively stable title. You know, until you accidentally send everyone flying into the sea should your hands collide with the island. If there was any roadmap toward a main mission series, or a larger map to work with, there is no real reason to buy or keep this.
