60 of 177 · most liked firstTo be honest, I have a hard time understanding what kind of playerbase was in mind when the game was made. Handholding. It is everywhere and it is unavoidable. When I finished the tutorial campaign and got into scenarios I was confused - because I was again told step by step how to complete even the simplest tasks. And what adds insult to injury - those instructions aren’t necessary as there is exactly one way you can build your production chains, as the game simply does not allow you to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seems like a decent game. but having to scroll past dlc content i cant use in every build menu got old fast
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mediocore gameplay but the most annoying thing is the developer decided to spam you building menu full with items that you don't have, pointing out in big red letters that said item is only accessable by buying the dlc. Pissed me off so much after a while that it made it for me literally unplayable. It's like you need a ad-block mod to even think about playing this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Where do I even begin? I have played the townsmen series since I first laid eyes on it through my mobile phone way back in 2004. It was amazing! Every time you build a city, it looked gorgeous. With simple grid work to help you map out and plan your city well enough. Each time you upgrade your building, the whole look of the building changes and that kind of excites you like seeing the difference once it levels up. I can't say the same for this version of the game however. You can't see…

unlabelledView post →You can tell, even after all this time, that it was a pay-to-win phone game ported to a PC game. The build times and costs, as well as the leveling and research progress, are really unbalanced relative to the requirements for the game. They removed the micro transactions, asked us to pay 10 bucks for the expansion, and then didn't change the MT transaction mechanics of the game that allow you to achieve objectives and overcome the ridiculous build times and costs. Real D-bag move.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know who the intended audience for this is. Is it for people that used to play mobile games but dropped their phone in the toilet and only have a PC now? It's certainly not made for PC gamers who were missing out on great mobile game content. But here it is...crappy mobile content that was done better many years ago on PC in game like Settlers, Stronghold, and many others, and now released on PC. In practice it is just garbage bundle filler and not worth a buy, especially for the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is stressful and stupid for no reason. Instead of things unfolding out linearly EVERYTHING happens at once. I guess the developer thought is would be suspenseful, but really it is just enervating. Other times the game is just downright dull. Waiting for workers to build buildings. Then, oh by the way when it is winter they go half speed. WTH! Blizzard after blizzard after blizzard. I just want to get the resources I need to complete my building. Stop stopping game time to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I could tell from the beginning that Townsmen came out as a mobile game and was then ported to the PC at some point. You notice this at every turn, because many things are simplified or limited. For example, the interface and controls are unnecessarily cumbersome. It may be good on mobile devices, but on PC the game is simply below average. (DE: Ich spürte es von Beginn an, dass Townsmen als Handyspiel rauskam und dann irgendwann auf den PC portiert wurde. Dies merkt man an jeder Ecke, weil…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like 20 years ago This is literally the same game I played almost 20 years ago on my Siemens M65 when I was a kid. I bought it just for nostalgia reasons, and it is literally the same game I played years ago on J2ME. Same scenarios, same missions, same mechanics, the game is exactly the same except for the improved graphics. I lost hundreds of hours playing this game as a kid back in the day. I ran it on my Steam Deck, and despite the warning that the game is not supported by Steam Deck at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nope. First impression feels good. But only after 10 hours of playing it still feels like a mobile game. Can not recommended. Certainly not for that prise.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this on sale and still feel ripped off. A terrible tutorial but that can be overlooked as a bad translation though the inconsistent display of resource is just confusing. Also you can click through menus to select buildings only to be told at the last moment that it require DLC. No option to hide those from the menu either.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to play this game on phone with my brother years ago when we were kids. This is the only strategic building game I replay to this day. adorable art, lovely music. Thank you for making it HandyGames!! <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun city builder, but it can get frustrating due to a lack of information provided by the game. If you have a gap in your supply chain, you will have to figure out where it is yourself. The game is also not clear about how important pathing for your citizens is. The gameplay is built on your people actually travelling from building to building in real-time to transfer goods, so the placement of particular buildings is very important. Once I got used to it, it became very fun to play…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A decent game. However I cannot recommend it for one issue enough: game cannot be paused.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't recommend this game, which is a shame as it could be an entertaining casual city builder. Unfortunately greed is not good, and the decision by the devs to chop the game in half and sell the rest as a "DLC" made it virtually unplayable. And this game has been crudely cut in half - how else would you receive quests impossible to complete without the dlc?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The UI is trash. The game itself makes zero sense. The DLC buildings clog up the build menu when you cannot use them. Don't waste your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty bad mobile port
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not recommended.Reason: 1.too many bugs. For example, the game crushes every certain hours;the description of tasks given in the endless mode often doesn't match their content;the short story and snow slide only occur once in my endless mode save, which I have played over 15 hours.the events frequency is really confusing. 2.not balanced. In this game's former edition, food is easily satisfied while jewels and clothes often are easily in shortage. In this newest edition, the food production has…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As much as I love and hold extreme nostalgia for townsmen, the pc version needs a fix. Prestige's value in this game is super misplaced because it used to be the p2w or the 'do this quick' currency. Granted in the mobile version there were more ways to get it and the problem is that on pc there isn't and you need it for a lot of stuff. Prestige doesn't carry over between scenario changes which is really silly and should be fixed. It should also carry over between maps because of how difficult…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a horrible mobile port to a pc.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The tutorial is so slow - it won't unlock the necessary buildings for at least 2/3 minutes after telling you what you need to build! Dialogue is just as slow and painful. You can fast forward the game day but not pause at all. I've had this for a while and I tried it again today and still don't like it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The tutorial is an insane amount of handholding. Plus, even when you figure out what you need to do, the game won't let you until it sits and processes for a good 30 seconds. If you decide you know what to do, and try to play endless mode, there's a whole bunch of buildings that show up on your build screen, but are locked as 'You are missing the required DLC".
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was pretty good a few years ago, a playable conversion of the mobile game. I just got the DLC and it completely broke any semblance of balance. Developers clearly aren't doing any work on this now. The economy - which is the entire game - is completely out of whack. It's incomprehensible in places. You can't sell too much on the market, but it's not clear why. You can get full up on pork skins but in that map can't build a tannery to use them up. And even if you could, you couldn't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Confusing tutorial that takes hours. Much confusing menus for what seems like a cheap mobile game ported to PC. I'm not having fun with this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looked cute, but it's a bad mobile port. I don't know how I got it, but just found out it's supposed to cost 20€? Nope
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looks like a fun game but it's bit hard at the start of a town and becomes a breeze quiet fast. My game occaisionally crashes or the ground becomes all green or white so you can't see paths or hills anymore It just feels broken or that there's something wrong in the game code. And as some others point out it looks like a mobile port (and that might even be the cause of my issues) When it's in sale it might be worth your while. I will spend a few more hours on this game probably but only if…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10/10 Thanks to the developper who entertained me for so many hours. I've played on mobile for a while before discovering that I could play on my computer and it made the game even more enjoyable to me. Easy to understand, yet difficult to master, the mechanics of the game are really directed towards the amount of fun players can have. The absence of an in-game store to make you buy premiums with real money shows the developpers values, goals and priorities, which all seems to revolves…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow! What a disappointment! Playing the first Townsmen on my Kindle was great but this may be the worst game I have ever TRIED to play! I am not sure if it might be partly due to my mouse buttons being switched but it is the worst user interface I have ever encountered! Clicking the X to get out of pop-ups didn't work (clicking outside the pop-up ONLY worked when clicking certain spots)... double-click followed by a single click seemed to be the way to open pop-ups... sometimes the ENTER key…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to try this game because I usually like this type of game, but here I have to agree with others. It's not a good port and feels like it should've stayed a mobile game. Played for a while, but had no fun and dropped it after a while.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Menus flooded with dlc stuff even if you don't have it. Full price is so high that i don't know how high was dev. No thanks.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Been playing this game for years! I would say 6 years on the mobile version.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →On a brand new PC all games work great except this one. It crashes shortly after the screen where it says press any button. Tried reinstall to C drive, tried compatibility mode for win8, tried disabling steam overlay, couldnt get it working. Cant recommend a game that crashes on a brand new PC.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From machine translation 这是一个很经典的游戏,但是如果问我是否推荐,我保持观望态度。 This is a classic game,But if you ask me if I recommend it,I maintain a wait-and-see attitude。 电脑端有个让我很疑惑的问题,它增加了声望的获取难度,不是一点半点。 The PC game has a question that confuses me a lot,It increases the difficulty of obtaining reputation, not a little. Each map has a fixed number of reputations,There is no connection between archives, There…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyed playing this It was tricky getting started trying to understand the game mechanics. The in-game tutorial states a lot of the obvious but overlooks the more specific things. I resorted to the wiki to get a better understanding of the icons. I was advised by a friend to try Endless/Easy to learn the controls and mechanics without the pressure of bandits/fire/avalanches and the plague. This worked well so I recommend others to do likewise. The graphics are cute and well done. The music…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cant say that i would recommend this game. some bugs out the gate with visual and placement of buildings. Need some polish. Pathing is rough on the villigars to.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A competent, but mostly dull colony sim. Looks and sounds fine, but the shallow mechanics and lack of proper difficulty scaling over time means each new map starts difficult and rapidly becomes completely trivial, and once you’ve built a town that meets enough of the peoples’ needs there’s almost nothing engaging left to do short of simply starting over. 5/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible Tutorial. Tutorial was so bad I almost quit the game early and would give the game negative review. By sheer willpower I forced myself to play the game. My opinion is: Game is pretty decent. Not much going on though. It's pretty easy once you realize you can cheese the game. I cheesed my way to victory and I don't care. Scenarios get too boring pretty quick. I almost all the time go afk. If it's not timed scenario ofc. You really need to try hard to figure things out which is a big…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Annoying hand holding with frustrating pauses between messages, just long enough you think messages have finished so you start doing something, only for next message to block you and reset what you were doing. Wanted to play, looks charming and chill (I thought!!), but quit in rage! Maybe after 'tutorial' missions it gets better, will never know!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It won's run. I've tried the other suggestions, what is left is to disable security software that may be blocking it. That's a no go. Fix whatever makes the security software block it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →More like an iPhone game or free facebook game. Dont waste your money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game got it on my phone too, wish there were more bulidings to place tho more choices, but really fun to play :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best game and the most relaxing game of my life. I thank the creators of the game for their creativity and beautiful story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanna love this game but it's just frustrating to play. 1. You feel rushed to build everything because even at the early season of the game, you already get bandits raiding and you don't even have your military base set up. Bandit raids and diseases should be triggered on the third year so the player has time to build a sustainable kingdom with food and equipment. Also, the fact that you get multiple raids from bandits in one season alone is crazy. 2. Townies should move faster when…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very christian game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I couldn't even get through the second tutorial. Fires breaking out all over. Townspeople complaining about Thaler (whatever that is...) or something else. Just felt overwhelmed. Things not properly explained.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dumb mobile game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →an empty husk of its former self townsmen 6 is still the greatest in the franchise. this just doesn't have the same charm it's still a fun and casual city builder regardless for $2? i'd say go for it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great follow up to Townsmen. I spent countless hours on mobile Townsmen, was very excited to see an addon ? Basically a bare bones city builder, great for playing while watching tv or movies.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I found the UI very clunky and the art style annoying. Compared to other games every sort of blends together which makes watching over your city confusing. With so many Colony sims out there, you could do a lot better than this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs have said there is no support for Windows 11. Multiple threads in the community hub about this game not launching or crashing immediately. Seems to work well on older computers if you are willing to risk it.
