If you are here to try a new co-op game with a friend turn back now. Whoever gets to play as "Player 2" is stuck as a auto turret and a spell cooldown with no interactive game play while you watch "Player 1" hack and slash through the level. There was absolutely no reason to add multiplayer and I frankly felt ripped off.

unlabelledView post →If you're looking for a fun, anime art-styled, co-op roguelike... DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. Game costs $30 and only supports game play mechanics for player one (main). If you play as player two (support), not only will you NOT progress your own game... you also do not have to press any buttons to make things happen on the character. Yes, "playing" as player two (support) means you don't actually have to "play" the game (it basically plays it for you, leaving you to sit there twidling your thumbs).…

unlabelledView post →Extremely underrated game, though I understand why. It's easy to come to it with the wrong expectations, but once you understand what the game is trying to do it's both very fun and surprisingly moving. Here are a few points to convince you to give it a shot, and to enjoy it more if you do: - Don't think of it as "anime Hades". Think of it as "Legend of Mana, except with really good combat". You are building a little world and watching it progress. - Don't skip the (well-acted) voiced cut…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't usually write reviews, especially for games I don't have a lot of time in, but this game has a system that managed to completely kill my motivation to continue after clearing the third dungeon and that's worth the review. During the course of the game, you fight through some pretty generic dungeons to fight the big bad demon at the end and cleanse the area. This, while not exactly riveting, is fine enough for what it is. The combat is pretty basic and a bit on the mediocre side, but…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very cute game but it's effectively not coop. 2nd player is a fraction of a character and just walks around pressing one button sometimes. Hope the game gets actual coop in the future
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only thing they put effort in this game was the blacksmithing mini games but even then they don't tell you how to actually do them. What they do tell you is the actual process of how swords were made back then with the terms and what the process was, not the buttons or what is expected of you to make sure you don't mess up your first sword. The characters are a variety I mean theres a bunny girl who's the elder sister to the giant fluffy Shiba inu guy who's japanese voice is that of a…

unlabelledView post →I’m really enjoying this game. It’s got a beautiful art style, fun combat and charming characters. Contrary to what people are saying, I think most systems work well together. The two swords synergise well in my experience. I use one as a movement option and the other for sheer damage. Controlling two characters at once is a bit of a pain but the work around is to build around one character instead of both. I found myself neglecting the healthpool and abilities of the staff bearer and chose to…

unlabelledView post →It's not another generic roguelike. Story, art, characters, lore and world building are fantastic. It is very JRPG with a lot of different outcomes and cutscenes depending on the choices you make. And I think that is a good thing. Swordsmithing is fun (IMO). Progression is complex with different characters, upgrades and spells (and that is a good thing) with different currencies (not so much of a good thing, unless you like the grind). Watching the village prosper, as time passes and…

You choose 2 characters to go into a dungeon with and progressively lose the secondary character that you don't play as part of the story. Instead of a differing set of weapons you can choose from like Hades every character uses the same weapon but has different move sets. Weapons can be crafted in a way that rounds out YOUR play style, being able to prioritize normal slashing attacks, quick draw or…

unlabelledView post →It took me a little while to grasp what was wrong with the game. I couldn’t quite pinpoint it at first, but something felt off. I eventually realised that a major issue is the poor sound/SFX design, significantly the experience during fights. It feels as though most of the budget was spent elsewhere, with combat audio largely neglected. The best way to describe it is like watching a film with the sound muted, while listening to your own background music. This makes the game feel flat, dull,…

unlabelledView post →I've got to say it, THIS GAME DOES NOT deserve a mixed or mostly positive rating. It's insanely fun so far, and hopefully what I have to say about it will resonate with the type of gamer I think should play this. Did you like Howl's Moving Castle or any other Studio Ghibli movie? The story and characters may not be as consistently strong as the best of Miyazaki's movies, but for a video game, let alone an action roguelite game, where story and characters are usually an afterthought, this game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has really charming characters, great voice acting, catchy music, and well drawn areas. The gameplay is reminiscent of hades but with more steps. That's where the frustration starts to set in. The active character you play has to constantly swap between two swords ( since each has a bar that depletes when used) which is more annoying then fun. The second character you play as is a pretty lame turret that doesn't do much. The controls out of the box on controller need to be remapped…

unlabelledView post →If you wanted a co-op game then turn away now. This is not a co-op game. The second player is stuck as a turret to the first player. But even as a single-player game the game does a lot of things, too many things, and doesn't do most really well. So it becomes a Jack of All Trades but Master of None. Which is a shame because the game itself is gorgeous, the controls are smooth, the voice acting (in Japanese) is amazing and plenty, and the music quite nice but that won't save it against the bad…
