negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's well designed for just plain fun. I'm 81 and this is the twitchiest game I play... I'm so good at it though it hardly feels twitchy any more. My normal game fare is heavy on stealth and exploration.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game needs a disclaimer on the store page letting players know that multiplayer doesn't work without some pretty heavy effort. and still may not work even after doing what needs to be done. You shouldn't be allowed to advertise as a multiplayer or co op game on steam unless you can directly and easily connect through a steam invite.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is better than Diablo 3&4 combined and as great as Diablo 2 that it is x15 PoE whole endgame Atlas system is designed based on the Mapworks endgame system that T2 introduced. Torchlight 2 was developed by Runic Games, a studio co-founded by Max Schaefer and Erich Schaefer, who were key co-founders of Blizzard North and the original co-designers of Diablo 1&2. p.s. game has fine Gibs which makes combat-play/feel even more amazing that already is x6 SS; +81/+100
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I will probably have 10s of hours more in this game by the time someone finds this review, I cannot recommend this game when more modern ARPGs exist. The game lacked a Technical Writer and that has greatly impacted its playability. I attempted to first play a Berserker. The skill list looked fun: do attacks long enough to get all crits, melee damage gives you X on hit, etc. But this is where tenured Torchlight players will go “well actually”. The documentation makes no such…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genuinely one of the most slept on Hack and Slays out there. Loot feels satisfying, builds have actual depth without needing a PhD and the art style holds up way better than it has any right to. The co-op is smooth, the modding scene kept it alive for years and your engineer can have a robot dog. That alone is worth the price of admission. Is it perfect? No. The story is basically just vibes and a villain who showed up to collect a paycheck. But honestly, nobody plays these games for the lore.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+ Less bloated than Minecraft Dungeons + More Colourful and less grimdark than all the mainstream ARPG's (Diablo's/Grim Dawn/PoE etc) + More ready to play than the Steam Early Access Titan Quest II + Mulitplayer mod and some + Less getting lost for quests than any other ARPG with a straightforward campaign - Only downside is no good controller support on PC, if you really want that get it on the Switch 1/2 An ARPG from 2012 and still my favourite, it's just kinda comfy ya know :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even in 2026, it still holds up as one of the best and most fun ARPGs ever made.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whoever wants to play with someone online, use Hamachi to make LAN playing possible. Tried to play multiplayer with a friend but kept getting firewall errors after many troubleshoots. Hamachi was the only solution. (If You two are connected to the same internet, no problem. LAN works.)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →multiplayer now uses an account for a service that is pretty much malware, woo!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR; Amazing (for now) single player game in the hands of the wrong gaming studio. Such a gold gem to be just .. sold. I had the joy of helping literally hundreds of people and really loved the game.. believe me.. bought it to at least 5 friends over the years i have the hours to back it up the gameplay!! But seems to me that the directive which the developers are taking is not on the right track given the actions they are making.. there for, so will the community respond in a corrective…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was a great game but was bought out by a new company that requires taptap.io for multiplayer so they can harvest your data. If youre going to play downgrade to an old version and play singleplayer or use the LAN mode.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seriously wtf Runic add this taptap bs that wants full access to all of my pc just to play multiplayer and if i decline it won't even start the game. Shoot yourselves in the foot. New patch but still same bugs. Still no controller support even though TL1 ran amazing with a controller on xbox. Instead of adding some bs third party for multiplayer maybe just fix the game bugs in single and multiplayer. Or maybe just make a new actual decent Torchlight thats not garbage and leave our only TL…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually like this game. Had a good run with some friends back in the day. This is getting a negative from me simply because instead of utilizing Steam's networking architecture, they are making players sign into sketchy third party bs. How about no? That sounds great. No. Just no. Bad corporation. Bad dog. No. ...No
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Torchlight II takes torchlight 1 and expands upon it in every way. This is my favorite of the series, as everything is expanded to much bigger scale. Level design is more varied, bigger and fun to explore. Quests are everywhere with main and side quests galore. You can still do fishing as well. Dungeons are everywhere, loot is fun and there is SO much of it. The classes are fun to play as well with multiple skill trees to vary your build in different ways. Torchlight II is by far my favorite…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →New online requiring a third party login. No.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Torchlight II This review comes from someone who has played many ARPGs but isn't a hardcore player or a completionist. Here are some of my thoughts. I played as an Outlander on Veteran difficulty. Pros Better maps and environments. The maps are much more interesting than in the first game. There's more variety in the environments and the layouts make exploration feel more worthwhile. More interesting side missions. The optional content feels slightly more worthwhile this time around.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Torchlight II is a great game. It's a Diablo-like ARPG that is great fun and is a nice, long campaign. There's a story there, but if you skip every cutscene you aren't really missing much. The gameplay is the true champion. This is the ultimate form of Diablo II. Silky smooth, simple graphics, clear interface. Even non-gamers can pickup and play it. Best thing about it is that it runs on basically any computer made in the last 20 years, even macOS and Linux. This is what a 10/10 game looks…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shady publisher XD and TapTap PC spyware. Avoid at all costs. ~ Another reviewer. So apparently the single player will remain untouched. So if that is good, it is good. The review before the change of corporations and state of affairs with the rug pull on multiplayer was over 90 percent, but now its down to the 70s, appropriately.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cruising in 2025 and still impossibly difficult to get a co-op game going. don't bother buying this if that's what you're here for.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Controversial take here; arguably the best Diablo clone ever made. Which is unsurprising, cause the same people developed Diablo 1. To host online games, you have to port forward. Native Linux support is decent and support cross-platform multiplayer. Give it a chance.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Multiplayer no longer works, you are forced to use TapTap to join friends and I nor any of my friends were able to make it run despite trying different browsers / making sure no adblocks were on / using different emails
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →New 3rd party multiplayer servers
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shady publisher XD and TapTap PC spyware. Avoid at all costs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY IF YOU WANT TO PLAY ONLINE unless you spend hours troublshooting firewall options you will not be able to play online even after needing to make a whole account on their servers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game came straight from my childhood, better than ever. If you like games like Diablo, this is a good game for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you can get the game to launch at all, multiplayer is broken in 2026 without messing with your router. This should not be acceptable, even at a discount.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Torchlight II... come on, you know it’s a gem! It’s a great RPG and a great little fun game at the same time. Lots of mods too. I keep coming back to it over and over again through the years, and it’s given me tons of fun. Highly recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Torchlight II definitely shows it's age in 2025, with it's challenges amounting to the developers saying "make da numbers bigger" for every difficulty level, and a UI that screams late-2000's. But for a as-of-purchasing $5 alternative to the currently abysmal state of the Diablo franchise, it's certainly a charming little adventure to play with your friends with lots of customisation and plenty of unique weapons, armour, environments and enemies to discover.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Accidentally picked this one up to play with my wife on a whim. Feels like a long lost update to Gauntlet's original formula. Low expectations, low commitment, big fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't buy this game they have ruined it by requiring you to get spied on and your data collected by a 3rd party Chinese data broker.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They want you to sign in to a third-party online service called TapTap, which is Chinese. Don't trust it!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To play online you are forced to use taptap io which doesn't even work instead of just letting people do peer-to-peer.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In 2012 #RunicGames released Torchlight II + last update was in 2017. Multiplayer has had glitches for years that will probably never be fixed. @froggacuda.bsky.social wrote a new game lobby to fix these: github.com/Froggacuda/t... #gamepreservation #reverseengineering

It still holds up to this day and you can change what you don't like with the workshop (Looking at you respec potions). A solid choice for a game. 11/10 - Would secretly install on my school computer again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sometimes you just need a nice chunky action looter with bright colors and fun combos. Torchlight II is that game. Still worth it, years later.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got Torchlight 2 when Diablo 3 was such a spectacular disappointment. This is the spiritual successor of D2, and now having played Torchlight 3, I can say - this game is the best of its kind, hands down.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i love arpgs and diablo-clones and this game is certainly no exception from the rule.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would prefer less cartoonish models but the gameplay is pretty darn good. Really easy to understand for first time ARPG players. I prefer rotating camera and zoomed in for a more 3rd person view. Mods provided that. Easy enogh to set controls with reset keybind controls.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An oldie but a goodie. A well polished easy to play game, just make sure to install a few in-life game mods for UI and game enhancement.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun game to play with your friends. If you like Diablo 2, this game is a must play. Currently playing as Embermage with only fire spells, no frost and shock allowed. I'm having a BLAST!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They are migrating the online services from one 3rd party to another, now requiring existing users to provide proof of purchase on DISCORD in order to receive a steam key so they can play online. Why?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A classic that stands on it's own and is very much still playable. I really enjoyed Torchlight II and have made a few playthroughs over the years.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth returning to this game from time to time, to remind ourselves what these scums have done to the genre. They copy and monetize these old games. All the skills and ideas and tries to glorify themselves as the best (poe, undecember and those lying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who made d4). Torchlight 2 is a straight to the point argp without the added bs and overcomplicated nonsense of our modern world. No dumb ebay simulator.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't get this game for multiplayer. It doesn't work.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this and played it like a roguelite. Veteran minimum on hardcore (permadeath) with new characters. Basically had to rerun the game on like five characters before I made any progress with a decent shared stash (after already losing an entire stash due to cloud saves). Fun game if you're a permadeath kind of guy. This one keeps you on your toes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Charming game. Great enemy and loot variety. Music is good too. Environments vary greatly as you progress. There is a steady feeling of accomplishment as you keep playing so it does not feel like a grind at all which is good. Some might not like it's "cartoonish" looks but if you are here for the gameplay then you should be just fine.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looks and feels like OG Diablo 1 + 2 after it took antidepressants and got inspired by Animal Crossing. Bright, charming, plays like you'd want. Similar to how PoE scratches that D1 and D2 itch just with warmer, happier, PG fantasy vibes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's old, but great game solo or coop. Especially now that you get it at a bargain. Pity they never made another sequel, since it's 100 times better than the predatory, cynical, overpriced, soul sucking garbage that is Diablo :P
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does anyone play Path of Exile? What's that like? The gameplay reminds me of Torchlight II (the one that i've played), but i dunno if that's true...Guild of Wars 2 seems like a game I wanna play but I can't run it right now...Path of Exile is another consideration...

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing Torchlight since the very first one came out. In fact, I still have my original game boxes for both games. I have enjoyed Torchlight II's modding scene and have used various mods, especially the various character mods, some QOL mods, various Map and dungeon Mods. This is one of the games in which I have hundreds of hours that I've played it. I haven't played in a while but will be getting back into the scene. If I'm not mistaken some of the original team from Runic Games,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First ever steam game I've ever gotten, still one of my favorites. I'll never forget the day I first played this and began my metamorphosis into a greasy fat gamer <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fyi borderless window does crash the game, at least for me. given its age. fun game, and when you're done with unmodded check outs ome of the amazing mods this game has on steam!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Always enjoyed Torchlight 1 & 2. This game has held up very well and is extremely light on computer resources. A great casual game with tons of loot and combat skills. I like playing with mods enabled
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This recommendation is "Yes, but very conditionally". Game is fun, but constantly frustrates with various things and is quite outdated by now in some mechanics. Note that this review is solely based on my current attempt to complete it with ranged rapid-fire Outlander. I've played other characters too but it's been too long to comment on them. I also have not modded the game. Mods should be reviewed separately anyway. Pros: + Graphics are simple but nice and game runs flawlessly. + Diablo-like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They switched this to taptap(a chinese mobile game service provider) for online services and doing what they tell you to doesn't work. There's plenty of other great similar titles out there, go try one that isn't broken.
