Then we had actor Stephen Russell perform it and it was comedic gold 25 years later, it's the most famous conversation in the series.
unlabelledView post →Thief II: the Metal Age was released in 2000, and unfortunately also ended up being the last game released by Looking Glass Studios before tehy closed their doors. It was quite a note to go out on, though. The story continues where the first one left off, with Garrett once again a freelance thief.
unlabelledView post →I've been replaying Thief II next, and 1) nearly every mission is a banger, and 2) I have a really good idea for a Thieftroidvania, someone should pay me moneyhats to make that game.
unlabelledView post →4. Thief II: The Metal Age As near to a perfect game as I've ever played. I loved the first Thief too, but the level design in this one elevates it. "First City Bank and Trust" and "Life of the Party" are absolute classics of stealth action level design.

SMB2 was the first NES game I played and set me on the path Out Run taught me that great games are timeless Thief II showed me that games could be smarter and deeper than I imagined before WoW's here because my wife's an ex-addict, and it's what connected us.

unlabelledView post →This is the game that got me into the game industry. It came out around the same time as #Thief and I sold dozens of copies working at Electronics Boutique on this day. I used the editor to build a level for my Thief II interview and a Valve employee actually helped me fix light leaks. Happy Bday! 🎂

unlabelledView post →The fuk is this? Ugh! My first design job was at Looking Glass Studios for Thief II in 1999. We had many women on our team and the game was better for it. The Opera House in Thief Gold wouldn't be a fan favorite without designer Teri Brosious. I can't believe this is being discussed 26 years later.
unlabelledView post →I'm unsure if I've played any game as much as Thief/Thief II, because of the fan mission community that formed around it. I stopped years ago eventually, but started again about a year ago because of the (amazing) fan expansion The Black Parade.
unlabelledView post →Oh good, same - it was one of the few things I already knew about the series before I even played my first game (also Thief II)

unlabelledView post →And I’m not even talking about Thief II yet, it’s Thief: The Dark Project I’ve only played so far. The way light and sound influence your presence and how the guards react to both is astounding to see from a game made in 1998, and it’s high time I’ve started playing these stealthy gems
unlabelledView post →This was a great interview by IGN. Ken was finishing up System Shock 2 when I started at Looking Glass on Thief II. He was quite arrogant back then, but it's clear he's grown up a lot. I'm looking forward to his next game 💖
unlabelledView post →A pc my family got in the 90s came with Thief II the metal age, and the music in that game is so intense and atmospheric that it scared the hell out of me when I was 9, & there was this one level that was like a dungeon and there were skeletal ghosts in some of the cells which also freaked me out. 😅
unlabelledView post →I think Thief II is objectively a better game than Deus Ex but I just really love Deus Ex including its shortcomings
unlabelledView post →Loved this and it reminded me of home. It showed one of the mansions I used as reference for a level I built for the game Thief II in 2000 💖
unlabelledView post →Games Complete #13 Thief II: The Metal Age I've been revisting these classics, plus mainlining @civvie11.bsky.social Petty Thief and today saw @noclipvideo.bsky.social doc on the LG and IS games. You'd think I'd be all thiefed out, but I'm moving on to DS in short order. What a game.
unlabelledView post →Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (PC/Xbox, 2005) is the greatest stealth game ever made. It's even better than Thief II and Metal Gear Solid 3 (two games I love dearly)
unlabelledView post →Thief II: The Metal Age?! That is my favorite game of all time. No game has ever matched the ambience of that game since. I will never forget making my way through a level hearing a strange echoing voice and then finding it to be some crazy opera singer guy and then suddenly I’m in an opera house.
unlabelledView post →Thief II? What a game! And what a personal achievement. Well done!
unlabelledView post →Got Thief II because it was the new hotness. Had no idea about Looking Glass or ImSims at all. Changed my life that game. My own copy of TDP isn’t quite so swank. Still, Play The Games was quite the compilation. Also had System Shock 2 packed in.
unlabelledView post →For a spicier take: Thief II is still the best stealth game.

The levels are pretty good though I did encounter some odd bugs that caused me to restart a few times. 8/10
unlabelledView post →Thief II: The Metal Age. It's been my favorite game for most of my life for good reason: I don't think any other game has created such a sense of place. Every sound, every location was created with intent. This is what happens when you put a bunch of creative MIT people in the same room.
unlabelledView post →7: Thief II: The Metal Age. It's the finest stealth game ever made. Its sneaking mechanics may not be as developed as T:DS or Chaos Theory but its world and level design, characters, factions and gameplay are top notch. Still alive today thanks to a modding community perhaps second only to DOOM's

unlabelledView post →While Thief: The Dark Project was a fun game, it kinda falls off on the whole "Sneaky thief" bit later on and has a bit too much hack-and-slash. Thief II: The Metal Age, on the other hand... that was a real solid Thief game all the way through.

unlabelledView post →Thief II then, because I had played Thief and it changed my perspective permanently and I didn't know about Deus Ex until 2001. Now it would be Deus Ex, because of how revolutionary it was. But if I want to replay either game, it would be Thief II. Really, it's just a better, more focused Thief I.

unlabelledView post →kinda torn about which game to start next week. On the one hand, i just managed to successfully patch Thief: The Dark Project, which I have not played, but on the other hand, i greatly want to play Thief II which I do at least know and afaik is the much better game.

But yeah those were incredibly formative for me too, practically had me imagining blackjacking everyone while strolling around.
