The remake was Gloria's second #1 Club Play hit...which also came in remixes by Phillip Damien and David Morales.

unlabelledView post →By the way, if I've piqued your curiosity about THE SPECIALIST (1994), which I'm not sure I could describe as "a good film" though I love it to bits, it also features a score by John Barry and (IIRC) Sylvester Stallone fondling Sharon Stone's stocking tops in a church.

unlabelledView post →Is it bad that I actually like Assassins? In like a "This movie is soooo ridiculous" kind of way? Also, I totally didn't know they wrote that. I always get it mixed up with "The Specialist".
unlabelledView post →The Specialist was the most disappointing film I’ve ever seen Why? It was the first 15 rated film I snuck into the cinema to see (I’d have been 12 or 13) I could not believe that the forbidden fruit of a “grown up” movie was so, so boring
unlabelledView post →Poor James, personally I think he truly peaked in the movie 'The Specialist'. He had average performances after that.
unlabelledView post →Closest was a movie called “The Specialist” - but the girl dies from specifically a car bomb and I watch the opening on YouTube it doesn’t really fit. BUT! Process of elimination: You now know it it NOT a Sylvester Stallone movie.
unlabelledView post →Thinking about movies where the score has had more staying power than the film. 'The Specialist' springs to mind.
unlabelledView post →Probably not worth the rewatch but Stallone had a scene with Sharon Stone in The Specialist which was as close to Arnold as I think he ever got in terms of sculpt and mass on film. And he was 48. 1/
unlabelledView post →True story: I was invited by a friend to watch this at his house on VHS sometime in ‘96 or thereabouts. I got the film title confused with The Specialist which came out the same year. Kept wondering when Stallone was going to show up.

unlabelledView post →The Specialist (1994) The wife (then girlfriend) and I walked out of the theater after about 15 or 20 minutes of the movie starting. Never done that before or since. To this day, it doesn’t bother me that I have no idea where the story was going or how it ended.
unlabelledView post →The Specialist (1994) Director: Luis Llosa This is one of those wonderful situations where a couple of actors think they are in a great movie and one guy knows he is in a bad movie. So much unintentional comedy here that it becomes a fun watch. The poster is almost as funny as the movie.

Film: The Specialist (4 of us paid £16 to see a movie we wouldn’t rent on VHS for £2) Song: Under The Moon of Love by Showaddywaddy.
unlabelledView post →Especially proud of myself for correctly guessing which Stallone movie was featured in the music video for “Turn the Beat Around” (I’ve read about but never seen THE SPECIALIST; I just saw James Woods and thought really hard about it) Jene acts unimpressed, but she is also proud.

unlabelledView post →Went to #Largo tonight and got to see How Did This Get Made! The movie discussed was the 1991 "classic" (according to Jason) The Specialist starring Sylvester Stallone and Sharon Stone and James Woods. But according to the marketing material Woods was NOT one of the stars. The movie is so slow and awkward that I think you could just find clips of Woods and the bombings and be plenty covered for the podcast. #HDTGM #TheSpecialist
unlabelledView post →Decent action can't overcome thin characters plus Stallone and Stone didn't have much chemistry together. At the very least James Woods, once again, goes over-the-top as the villain so he was entertaining. 2.75/5
neutral · AI labelView post →Explosive comic book crime thriller with Stallone, Stone and Woods An ex-CIA demolitions expert (Sylvester Stallone) is hired by a grim beauty in Miami (Sharon Stone) to take out the mobsters who murdered her parents when she was a girl. Rod Steiger and Eric Roberts play high society gangsters while James Woods is on hand as the specialist’s rival, who works for the mob. "The Specialist" (1994) is a competent Stallone action flick set in Miami, albeit seriously comic booky with Woods really…

There is no reason to put yourself through the plodding pretentiousness of The Specialist unless you, like I was, are on some sort of quest to watch the entire 80s-90s Stallone filography. Final rating:★★ - Had some things that appeal to me, but a poor finished product.
