The Jewel of the Nile
Joan Wilder is thrust back into a world of murder, chases, foreign intrigue... and love. This time out she's duped by a duplicitous Arab dignitary who brings her to the Middle East, ostensibly to write a book about his life. Of course, he's up to no good, and Joan is just another pawn in his wicked game. But Jack Colton and his sidekick Ralph show up to help our intrepid heroine save the day. From TMDB

unlabelledView post →The song from The Jewel of the Nile is actually better than the film The Jewel of the Nile. Probably not a surprise. They tried to remake Romancing the Stone too fast. That was lightning in a bottle, CALM DOWN, you can't make that happen again.

unlabelledView post →Based on a novel and released in 1989; think it was cashing in on Turner, Douglas and Danny De Vito having worked together on Romancing The Stone and The Jewel of The Nile. It was a very blackly funny film.

unlabelledView post →"The Jewel of the Nile" is at something of a disadvantage. Jack T. Coltan and Joan Wilder were total strangers the first time we encountered the characters and this provided a lot of scope for development, but that isn't the case here so what screenwriters Mark Rosenthal and Lawrence Konner have produced instead is purely an action film which works perfectly well on all levels. The action scenes are moderately exciting and there is a highly entertaining opening where we are once again invited…
positive · AI labelView post →My runner up is The Jewel of the Nile. Honestly the cast alone could almost earn that spot. But it's equally bad as The Lost Boys, if entertainingly so with decent performances. However, the 80s values and caricatures cringe level is extreme enough to zero out any fun.
unlabelledView post →The Jewel of the Nile (1985) Director: Lewis Teague I remember loving this in my teens so this was a nice walk down memory lane. Still some enjoyable moments but those might be outweighed by some pretty overt racism.
