This was not a movie made to be remembered, just to be seen in air conditioning during the summer of 2005 and tide you over until the next creaky old house came along. It does a respectable job you neither love nor dislike

unlabelledView post →THE SKELETON KEY isn’t a great film, but it sure is a watchable one. A staple of the 2000s-era female-led thriller, some of the race stuff hasn’t aged super well, but Rowlands and Hudson sniping at each other is hella fun.

unlabelledView post →You know, for the longest time, I remembered THE SKELETON KEY (2005) as a bad movie that I liked despite itself, a fav regardless. I was wrong. That move rocks.
unlabelledView post →Film Review | The Skeleton Key is an incredibly effective and creepy PG-13 horror movie #theskeletonkey #familyhorror #horrorfam #horrorsky
unlabelledView post →I watched The Empty Man (2020) and was really digging it until the last 20 minutes made me not care about anything that happened in the entire movie — wish they’d gone more of a Wicker Man (1973) or The Skeleton Key (2005) route!
unlabelledView post →God, man, why would you ever leave Twitter? Did you see that epic David Frum post? Elon is talking about how much he loves the movie “The Skeleton Key.” There are three separate viral posts going around of MS Paint recreations of SpongeBob gifs. For me and my fellow 37-year-olds, this is it!
unlabelledView post →Backbeat is a movie that I remember exists about once a year, think "damn that sounds cool, I should watch it" and then I never watch it. I just listened to the Skeleton Key pod episode and not once did I ever think "I should watch this". Thanks for watching it so I don't have to.

unlabelledView post →My editorial, "Deconstructing How ‘The Skeleton Key’ Depicts African Spiritual Beliefs (and 3 Films That Do It Better)" is up and running at #DreadCentral! I love this movie but African spiritual beliefs are used unfairly as shorthand for 'good' vs 'evil' in horror. Here's my take. #horrorsky
unlabelledView post →Yeah, I thought it was the kid too. I thought he was getting bullied and asked the aunt for help. I thought the movie was okay. "The Skeleton Key" was better.
unlabelledView post →Was half-assedly watching the Skeleton Key again, mostly because a) house porn and b) the soundtrack. And it still cracks me up how the MC is supposed to be from NJ. If that girl was really from Jersey, there would've been no movie. She would've been in her car speeding back up 95 so fast. 😂
unlabelledView post →If you enjoy that route, I hope you know the movie __The Skeleton Key__. It has a similar plot. And the villain is far more competent than Keigetsu, with stronger world-building.
unlabelledView post →The Skeleton Key looks like a Kate Hudson horror film from 2005 (with a Jenna Ortega sequel in 2025). I think you mean something else?
unlabelledView post →I liked the idea behind The Skeleton Key very much. Cool movie. The Suel Lich of Dungeons&Dragons is similar, transferring its life force to different human hosts throughout time

When I first heard about this movie 20 years ago, I mixed it up with news of a potential Stephen King Skeleton Crew adaptation, and will always be sad that it was not.

unlabelledView post →2. The Skeleton Key I was into it for the first half, but the movie started blending into a strange reverse Get Out situation with a sprinkle of The Polar Express that just wasn't working for me lol. I didn't hate the ending, but it was just so bleak I didn't know how to feel after. 6/10
unlabelledView post →Watching THE SKELETON KEY. I love this movie.
unlabelledView post →I was over this movie & annoyed with everyone who recommended it, but figured I’d finish it anyway. Glad I did because the ending is the best part. #movies #horror Check out The Skeleton Key on Reelgood. https://reelgood.com/movie/the-skeleton-key-2005

unlabelledView post →It’s like that movie The Skeleton Key. You say it enough times, you start to believe it. (At least that’s my interpretation of it)
unlabelledView post →I have been preaching the cinematic greatness of The Skeleton Key to anybody who’ll listen since my first watch back in the day. that is a movie lover’s movie from start to finish. absolutely no notes.

unlabelledView post →Ha! I totally considered The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974 or Tobe Hooper's other authentic Texan white trash movie Eaten Alive. I decided to play it safe with The Skeleton Key bc it's actually technically "Gothic" but good choice!
unlabelledView post →BRB, writing a piece on how The Skeleton Key shaped my understanding of what a good horror movie should be. (I always tell people who have never seen the movie to go into it without reading anything about it.)
unlabelledView post →I watched The Skeleton Key and for years didn’t know how it ended. Only found out how long that movie was because my Cousin made me watch it and I was like, “Oh yeah. I turned it off after the first dumb decision. I thought it was like a show or something.” 😂
unlabelledView post →Nevermind, she was the villain. I was gon say The Skeleton Key with Kate Hudson, but they were villains in that movie too
unlabelledView post →The Skeleton Key is mostly there because of fond family and friend memories. It’s become a movie we watch often. My friends and I made “hoodou” juice for one watch session in college that nearly knocked us out. My lil sister, bestie and I often quote “my chile…I do believe you broke my legs” 🤣

unlabelledView post →I'm rewatching AHS: Coven and wanted to watch a horror movie set around New Orleans/Louisiana so I sat down and watched The Skeleton Key last night.. Amazing acting, really cool shots of the bayous and a 10/10 atmosphere but the story itself suffers from the predictable 00's horror trope.

unlabelledView post →Night 12 Movie 12 of #Spooktober #31NightsOfHalloween The Skeleton Key 👻👻👻 I’ve seen this movie before. I feel like it used to be so scary to me but it either doesn’t hold up with multiple watches or with time. I’m not sure which. Either way, I just didn’t find it as scary as I once did.
