unlabelledView post →Books to film 📚=🎞️ Mrs Frisby & the Rats of Nimh (1971) by Robert O'Brien was adapted to film by Don Bluth as The Secret of Nimh (1982). The animated film adds tension, "magic" (as the book is science focused), & a simpler motive for the Rat society's desire for independence. 🐀🧪✨ #filmsky #booksky
unlabelledView post →Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH (and the movie adaptation The Secret of Nimh) starts off like any children's tale: talking animals, cozy cottages, and epic quests. But Robert C O'Brien's novel takes an unexpected science fiction twist...

My conundrum is how I should go about my fan fiction storyboard? Spoilers: it's possible Justin has died In the end, I figured out something.

unlabelledView post →Love this movie. I love the book Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, but they are two totally different experiences that happen to share some character names and plot beats.
unlabelledView post →Secrets of NIMH was a book too - the series is called the Rats of NIMH. I read them but not sure I ever saw the movie. Enjoy!

unlabelledView post →The Rats Are Coming-The Werewolves Are Here (1972) is praised by "trash cinema" fans for being unintentionally hilarious. The absurd characters, the shabby werewolf effects, and the melodramatic performances make it a notable piece of exploitation history. #horror #horrormovies #horrorsky
unlabelledView post →I’m sorry, but you did miss out on something special. I have never seen either movie, but I did read "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH” in fifth grade, and it still brings me joy to think about it. It’s one of the “read as a kid” books I bought for my “as a grown up” collection. Definite Nostalgia 🥰

(1972, Andy Milligan) & Wolfen (1981, Michael Wadleigh). The first is a werewolf movie but doesn't want to be and the second is not a werewolf movie but kinda wants to be?
unlabelledView post →One of the local libraries is doing a kids book and movie program with Mrs. Frisby and The Rats of NIMH, which feels like quite a choice!
unlabelledView post →I had my students pick out books from the classroom library that they thought looked “boring” and one of the kids picked Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH and I nearly lost my mind. That book is amazing and the movie is so good!

Another Andy Milligan movie after the recent posting of The Rats Are Coming! the Werewolves Are Here! Pinnacle of Denis DeMarne’s career 😂

unlabelledView post →'Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH'. It's one of those cases of the movie version displacing people's awareness of the original book. Which is a genuine shame, as it's a fantastic fantasy that is sufficiently realistic that many children might not realize it's really a sort of fairy tale.

unlabelledView post →A book that changed me as a kid: Probably Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH (but it could also be related to the Don Bluth animated film). A book I read more recently that changed me: N. K. Jemisin's The Fifth Season. It showed me what a writer can do when no one gets in her way.
unlabelledView post →I still read "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" every couple of years or so. I love the book and the movie so much! (We shall not speak of the sequels.)
unlabelledView post →I have been informed that the movie is called The Secret of NIMH and the book is called The Rats of NIMH

Severin used the sound and music where there was none. It's 20 mins shorter without the rats. 📽 #PsychotronicPsunday #HorrorMovies #Filmsky

unlabelledView post →well - "The Hobbit" was read to us in Gr.6(? possibly 7?) at Primary School, a school which had a selection of Asterixes in the library! 🥰 Roll forward to Gr.9 where "The Hobbit" was one of the set texts for English. (as was "Mrs Frisby & the Rats of NIMH" - later to be a wonderful animated movie!)

unlabelledView post →There’s a book called Mrs Frisbee and the Rats of NIMH. It’s awesome, and the rats were engineered and trained to be super intelligent. It was also a wild ass film - seriously trippy in places 😂
unlabelledView post →Mrs. Frisby & the Rats of NIMH freaked me out at 5. The movie, not the book.

unlabelledView post →Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, which the film is apparently based is my favorite book of all time. Read it to my kids. Then we watch this train wreck and my son was pissed and cried because it was so off track. To those who liked the film. Don’t read the book, it will ruin the film for you.😂
unlabelledView post →#34: Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. Read with kiddo. I saw the movie of this when I was a kid, but I did not remember the story *at all*. And apparently the book is a lot more detailed about the backstory than the movie. Deserving of its honor. The backstory was amazing and full of great detail.

unlabelledView post →Watching #TheWitcher again. And Mistle looks far too old for Ciri. Also, who tf wanted a #TheRats spinoff? No one, I imagine. I sure as hell don’t. I’d rather a prequel on #Emhyr on how he came to power. They’ve aged #BartEdwards for this role. Remove the grey they put in his hair for current Emhyr and wham bam you got Duny / Emhyr back!
unlabelledView post →The Secret of NIMH! The scene with the owl made me run away & hide. A couple years later, I read the original Mrs. Frisby & the Rats of NIMH, and it became one of the ultimate favorites of my childhood. Still have never watched the movie again...

unlabelledView post →I read Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIHM quite a few times. There are other books in the series but I’ve never read them. The movie is fun but a pale shadow of the book.
unlabelledView post →I do like Mann's film of The Keep, although I've not seen the 210 minute version. Not seen Deadly Eyes aka The Rats, but never thought that book would be easy to film...
unlabelledView post →Another not too shabby film adaptation is The Keep by E Paul Wilson, movie version of the Rats, was utter rubbish 😜
unlabelledView post →Today's authorial rabbit hole: Robert C. O'Brien, he of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIHM. The animated film was a formative one for me and I remember enjoying the book thoroughly when I did read it. The surprising thing about O'Brien is that he died in 1973 at the age of 55 of a heart attack.
unlabelledView post →Lol, interestingly, they wrote Take Me Out after seeing Enemy At The Gates, a mediocre movie version of the novel War The Rats about a Nazi and Soviet sniper squaring off in Stalingrad which decided to make everyone British, for some reason.
unlabelledView post →the first time I remember being super pissed about a movie fucking up a book was when he added magic and sword fighting to The Rats of NIMH. Asshole.
unlabelledView post →Did you ever read the book Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH? It's so much better than the film (people always say that) so the movie was something of a disappointment when it came out. But the original story is pretty dark at times too.
unlabelledView post →I've been tempted to read this for years. I saw the film and it freaked me out a bit at the time. But I've read Herbert's 'The Rats', which wasn't entirely my cup of tea but felt enough like a very, very dark episode of Doctor Who to be enjoyable.

Still do.
