Sinners is not Parasite or Barbie. Hamnet is not The King’s Speech. One Battle After Another is not The Power of the Dog. Delroy Lindo is not Marcia Gay Harden. Each movie and performance is unique and only exists in their own film and awards year. Hope this helps.

THIS MOVIE IS SO DAMN GOOD. For a good chunk of time, Titane was my favorite film from 2021. But if there's anything that COULD topple it, it's The Power of the Dog. Then again, I need to give that some thinking. Any which way, Titane is up there because Titane is freaking *amazing.*

The Power of the Dog (2021) Wow. The only criticism I have is that it took me the first 30 minutes of the movie to acclimate to Benedict Cumberbatch in the role, but he got there. Genuinely brilliant, so much imagery and symbolism to capture the eye and such a slow burn. Masterwork of an ending.

With tight dramas like “The Power of the Dog” and “Slow Horses” in their wheelhouse, I am now eager to see their adaptation of this classic property.
