I think that Eggers's The Northman is the only movie to go balls to the wall to show a medieval mentality.
positive · AI labelView post →I'm excited for Nosferatu, but I'm even more excited for the movie next year where Nosferatu, the Northman , one of the guys from the lighthouse and The VVitch team up to acquire a series of powerful jewels
neutral · AI labelView post →How DARE they release Nosferatu after all of us internet people already compiled our “Best of the Year” lists! So dang good. Also, get this man a Dark Souls movie. Nosferatu + The Northman = Dark Souls It’s not hard math!!!
neutral · AI labelView post →I think The Northman also gets unnecessarily classed as a difficult movie because of all the weird shit and the Hamlet structure. But it's not hard to understand. It's about hating a guy with your whole life.
positive · AI labelView post →Spot the werewolf! I was today years old when I found out there's an actual werewolf in Eggers's *The Northman* movie during the Tree of Life scene, meaning that Amleth (the main character) does have some werewolf ancestry. He's actually an Úlfheðnar (Berserker warrior) in the movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →i am not sure that it is possible to do what Eggers wanted to do with the Northman, which is to do the same thing he always does: make a movie from the point of view of a dead ideology.

positive · AI labelView post →Just saw Nosferatu (2024, dir Eggers). Of Eggers' works, I've only seen The Northman and this, Nosferatu. I can confidently say that I like very much what these films are and where they are coming from. I'm almost guaranteed to see Eggers' next film. And, without wanting to see Nosferatu again, I have a general longing to see a film like Nosferatu over the next few days just to dig into the vibe more (I should probably see his earlier films now). All to say that this film basically delivers…

unlabelledView post →Robert Eggers’s Nosferatu: a spooky but oddly cold take on the vampire story. > In Robert Eggers’s Nosferatu, the dark shadow of a long-fingered hand looms over the fictional German port town of Wisborg. It is a chilling, striking shot: an aerial view of twinkling, snow-dusted houses, the ugly threat of a monster’s grasping hand gliding overhead. > >Conjuring atmosphere is something that Eggers, the American horror director behind The Witch, The Lighthouse and The Northman, is especially good…

It's very confusing as she was his wife on BIG LITTLE LIES. Oedipus Rex? More like Oedipus Mess! Rewatch. #filmsky 📽
neutral · AI labelView post →Man, Bob Eggs' Nosferatu.... What an utterly juiceless movie. All the nice bits are there, but it's just dry as fuck, and I can't even call it a "letdown", because I saw the Northman and I knew what I was walking into.

neutral · AI labelView post →Just a fanart of "The Northman" because I love this movie. #thenorthman
positive · AI labelView post →I watched The Northman, and it's clear to me now that each movie he makes is worse than his previous one. That said, a mediocre werewolf movie from him is still gonna be pretty good in the scope of werewolf movies
negative · AI labelView post →Do I prefer a movie about accepting your fate as the inscrutable will of the gods? Yes, sometimes, but they already made The Northman for me. We are now in our One Battle After Another era
positive · AI labelView post →Alexander Skarsgård catching the spear and throwing it back at the start of the raid on the village in THE NORTHMAN remains one of the most startling things I've ever seen on-screen (and in a very startling movie, no less)

positive · AI labelView post →rewatched the 1st part of The Northman last night. look forward to finishing it tonight. one of my favorite films some claim it’s Egger’s worst film, and to some degree i see their argument. it is less focused in its ambition, but i adore what it accomplishes. an immersive portal to a Viking world

neutral · AI labelView post →Nosferatu good 👌👌👌👌 I wouldn't say it's my absolute favorite Robert Eggers film, but I literally just watched The Lighthouse for the first time two weeks ago so the bar is set obscenely high LOL (Now I need to re-watch The Northman......)
positive · AI labelView post →I know The Northman has some great Conan moments.. but i would really love Eggers to do a Conan movie.

I'm behind with notifications again, soz! Goodnight m'dears😘

My current WIP is influenced by Carmilla, Interview with the Vampire (especially the format of the TV show), and the movie The Northman. I'm not sure if people consider the latter horror but it has its moments
neutral · AI labelView post →The American public always pick the cgi slop over like an actually good and thoughtful movie people put time and love into. It will always sadden me that the Northman flopped.

neutral · AI labelView post →$35M is a big number for NOSFERATU (by way of comparison, Robert Eggers's previous film, THE NORTHMAN, did $34M over its entire domestic run). Hoping to have a newsletter with a review out tomorrow, but I quite liked it as I've liked most of his stuff aside from THE LIGHTHOUSE.

unlabelledView post →The Northman (2022) felt incredibly immersive because everyone in the movie stuck to the bit; they're all acting as they would in an Icelandic saga. There's no modern quips, barely any laughs actually, and most of the characters are singularly obsessed with their goals
unlabelledView post →Can't wait to get involved in shooting this horror film! The story is being developed and refined right now. Aesthetics apparently a mix of The Northman, #Nosferatu, The Wicker Man, Heretic and The #Witch.
unlabelledView post →I found out that there's this big hefty coffee table art book of Eggers' The Northman movie (featuring concept art, costuming, historical things etc.), and now people are talking about the possibility of a Nosferatu one as well 🥹 The prospect of flipping through such a book makes me so, so excited.

unlabelledView post →Everybody who has tried to remake, knockoff or sequelize the ideal dark low fantasy film...Conan the Barbarian (1982)...has either been too cheap and silly (Red Sonja, Deathstalker, too many to count really) or tried to make a heavy, auteur Oscar-bait film like The Northman or The Green Knight.

unlabelledView post →Speaking of nightmares, I saw Nosferatu on the weekend, a remake of the 1922 silent film. With Robert Eggers directing, you know you are in good hands and this one does not disappoint. The story is the one we all (mostly) know and is straight forward and uncomplicated. So based on this, how can Eggers set it apart from the original, (or even the hundreds of other vampire films) ? He has a real knack for the period piece. If you watch his other films (The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman)…
unlabelledView post →Eggers & Co. have knocked this one out of the park. It isn't a history movie, but it is a movie set in a concrete historical time.
