0 of 0 · most liked firstI just felt like drawing the Dragon King™ from the hit movie Netflix The Monkey King™ again. Of course I took some uhhh... slight liberties with the design of his Feet. Barely noticable really. I love the evil gay water dragon.
unlabelledView post →Have finished the above graphic novel The Monkey King, which is based on The Journey To The West saga from China. Beside it is the Shaw Brothers movie The Cave of Silken Web, which is also connected to that same story.

unlabelledView post →In addition to attending the premiere of San Francisco Opera's The Monkey King last weekend, I used my long flights to watch nothing but excellent movies. #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched I especially loved watching I'm No Longer Here and Farewell My Concubine back to back. ¡Viva la música!
unlabelledView post →Watching a movie about Sun Wukong but they keep showing other monkeys that are not the Monkey King and therefor far less glamorous and divalishious
unlabelledView post →The Monkey King in this movie terrified me as a kid. Watching stuff from the 70's and 80's as a kid in the 90's felt like fever dreams.
unlabelledView post →Remember that Dragon from the Monkey King movie on Netflix? Pink Ocean remembers... I worried that I might have made Mo a bit too unfamily-friendly with his chest size, but then I remembered this (and many similar character designs) is in a PG movie.
unlabelledView post →Watched The Monkey King Proof that good animation isn't enough to save a movie that has a boring script and mostly bland characters and a annoying main character. Voice cast is fine i suppose. Through the random songs were forgettable but action scenes were animated really well.
unlabelledView post →No festive films here today but I am having plenty of fun - watching The Monkey King (2014, Soi Cheang). Going through a phase where films like this are really hitting the spot
unlabelledView post →Watched ‘Nobody’ tonight and this movie has such incredible comedic timing and acting. Its pure slapstick. Some knowledge of The Monkey King myth might be required to get some of the finer details, but overall its easy enough to parse that these guys are in over their heads constantly.
unlabelledView post →Journey to the west. It’s a Chinese movie about the Monkey King who almost ruled the heavens until he met Buddha.
unlabelledView post →《Eight decades after its original release, iconic Chinese animated film 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘐𝘳𝘰𝘯 𝘍𝘢𝘯, Asia’s first animated feature film, has been brought back to life in 4K, premiering at SIFF. Adapted from 16th-century novel 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘦𝘴𝘵, this 73-minute film follows the Monkey King, or Sun Wukong…》

unlabelledView post →The Peking Opera stage feel meets Chang Cheh’s film action, with Red Boy taking on the Monkey King in an acrobatic, weapons-heavy fantasy. Then the film wraps after an hour and gives you the real thing. Speficially, abridged opera performances. A strange but fascinating showcase.
unlabelledView post →Better watch out for those peaches... They may not grant immortality - but they sure make some who eat them pretty frisky >___> Just some more Netflix "The Monkey King" fanart for 4/4 The older, and looser, sketch is like so. bsky.app/profile/fenn...
unlabelledView post →Lawrence, This Netflix Movie came popping into my head... "The Monkey King" - Villager Children's Choir youtu.be/p2sUayPX_KM?...
unlabelledView post →This song has been stuck in my head all day, which, honestly is fine, cause it rocks. All of the songs in Netflix's "The Monkey King" movie are bangers.
unlabelledView post →Smarter people than me have said wise things about the movie review that called the Monkey King satanic (in a Miltonian sense) but I'm just stuck on the fact that Journey to the West predates Milton's birth and Sun Wukong's origins predate Christianity.
unlabelledView post →One of my fav children's books! The animation follows the adventures of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. It's an award winning movie, a real treat to the eyes 🤌 I'm happy to see it's available on YT
unlabelledView post →It's all Chinese DTV round our way. Mo Tse facing down a thousand swordsmen in a Wuxia movie with the worst CGI you've ever seen, Andy On ridding China of drug dealers with extreme prejudice, Louis Fan as the Monkey King, some nonsense about a giant snake that's somehow 4 sequels deep, etc.
unlabelledView post →Christopher Young’s score for Soi Cheang’s 2014 film THE MONKEY KING (starring Donnie Yen as Sun Wukong) is getting its first vinyl release in March. (And someone in marketing is still trying to make “Donald” Chow happen) www.musiconvinyl.com/products/sou...
unlabelledView post →I haven't seen the movie but I know a Sun Wukong The Monkey King when I see one
unlabelledView post →I actually liked The Monkey King (2023 film)😀❤️
unlabelledView post →Oh, it's a shit movie, your logic is 100% sound. You'd be better off watching the New Legends of Monkey. It's the source material and makes about as much sense as the Dragon Ball anime, or just listen to the Monkey King episodes of the Myths & Legends podcast.
unlabelledView post →Netflix has made a movie about the Monkey King and as a reminder if you see media about the Monkey King that's just Goku
unlabelledView post →The college is never actually named in the film itself, but the novelization of Raiders named it. Jones was still teaching at Marshall in the screenplays for "And The Monkey King"(an never made Chris Columbus script) and "And The City Of The Gods"(the screenplay heavily reworked into Crystal Skull)
unlabelledView post →The #movie tells the story of the Monkey King after Buddhahood, confronting Demon King Po Xun. Blending Chinese aesthetics and modern animation, it explores the thin line between Buddha and demon, with a core theme that truth has more than one side.
unlabelledView post →I haven't ever seen that movie, but I recognised the headband! Sun Wukong, the Monkey King! I read Journey to the West when I was a kid, and avidly watched the Japanese version, 'Monkey!' In the 70s. Great stuff and a nice drawing
unlabelledView post →My equivalent was Big Bird in China. I had reoccurring nightmares for years about the Monkey King! The film is just a cute tour of Northern China with puppets, acrobats, and adorable children.
unlabelledView post →I hope they release more content of this movie BUT I love this variation from The Monkey King 2023 version on Netflix
unlabelledView post →A movie called The Monkey King. He steals a stick and this gay noodle gets big mad round in retaliation.
unlabelledView post →Yeah, I don't remember the Monkey King getting his balls set on fire so many times in other film and stage adaptations I've seen.
unlabelledView post →starting with the very first animated film in Asia - Princess Iron Fan (1941), an animated rotoscope tale about the Monkey King. Then, the Chinese mythical story, Nezha Conquers the Dragon King (1979); And finally, the 2016 animated masterpiece, Big Fish & Begonia.
unlabelledView post →It's time to release this last month I was getting my groove back with Dragon King from the Netflix movie, The Monkey King. seeing BaghiKat's fantastic drawings on FA of Dragon King, made me want to do something of him again, and he became my comfort character that month
unlabelledView post →A true classic in chinese animation. Also check out the Monkey King movie from 1961 called "Havoc in Heaven".
unlabelledView post →Watching Dr. Who. 1996 movie. A fitting movie to watch instead of the inauguration of the Monkey King.
unlabelledView post →This asshole is what started it all for me. Was curious about the Monkey King IP after. Watched the Netflix movie. Wanted more. And got to LMK. He was my gateway drug.
unlabelledView post →If you don't know what I'm on about you probably haven't seen both Netflix's The Monkey King, Illumination's Grinch movie or Sony's Popeye movie animatic

unlabelledView post →Last movie I've watched. 4/10 #netflix #themonkeyking #movies #moviesky #filmsky
unlabelledView post →i agree! he has a story that sets up how strong he is, and his exhibition of raw Saiyan traits is compelling to see in the build-up to the fighting, and his headband thing in the first movie is very Monkey King like, so it's like Goku is staring down the Monkey King at times
unlabelledView post →I watched THE HIGHEST GROSSING ANIMATED FILM OF ALL TIME [And it's the sequel to a Chinese Animated movie about a well-known (in China) mythological figure. And, no I'm not talking about the Monkey King/Sun Wukong/Son Goku this time. He's...Ne Zha!] youtu.be/jq8TSk79q9I?...
unlabelledView post →Gonna get to my dms in a tad bit. But I keep thinking of my GK villainess oc Chieko, the female leader of a group of bandits whose design was heavily inspired by Baijujing's design in the Monkey King Conquers The Demon movie. Chieko has a goal to kidnap Tsurumi and hold him for ransom.

unlabelledView post →Bank Holiday viewing included 'The Forbidden Kingdom' (2008) - superb entertainment! Especially after reviewing a few Hong Kong action films lately, it was a treat seeing sparring between Jet Li and Jackie Chan in a reimagining of the Monkey King mythos 🐒
unlabelledView post →All I know about The Monkey King I learned from the Netflix movie. I think I would have enjoyed your version, but can see your point that a Chinese author would be better. Ideally, a Chinese author with complete artistic freedom.
