The Italian Job
Charlie's got a 'job' to do. Having just left prison he finds one of his friends has attempted a high-risk job in Torino, Italy, right under the nose of the mafia. Charlie's friend doesn't get very far, so Charlie takes over the 'job'. Using three Mini Coopers, a couple of Jaguars, and a bus, he hopes to bring Torino to a standstill, steal a fortune in gold and escape in the chaos. From TMDB

Another stellar score by Jones. Enjoy the fun! 3/* #filmsky #musicsky #botd #moviesky

unlabelledView post →FILM FACTZ! The Italian Job ending originally had Michael Caine and the robbers getting away with all the gold, but the prop for Caine’s gigantic inflatable balloon head (a twist reveal intended by screenwriter Troy Kennedy Martin) wouldn’t work on set.
unlabelledView post →This film is basically a snarling, insecure rant about the emotional loss of the British empire's decline. The Italian Job pretends to be charming with the same fig leaf of saccharine dishonesty as that other great Trojan horse of right wing cruelty, Forrest Gump. Unlikeable, covetous, pathetic.

unlabelledView post →The film became some kind of weird poster child for the recent ‘I’m Backing Britain’ campaign, a slogan searching for a purpose. Us against them, against all odds, a soft centred fantasy of violent criminals sticking it to the Italians. My ★★★½ review of The Italian Job on Letterboxd boxd.it/aOWT07

Also thought that George's driving skills in Magical Mystery Tour would qualify him as a driver in this classic film. 👍👍
