[url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45534557/]@MatureContent I can't believe it took me this long to finally play this game, because what an immersive experience it was. This is a walking sim that feels much like a game like Firewatch, but in this story we are in space on a deserted alien planet. We play as Yasna, a biologist who got lost on the surface, in the middle of nowhere and have suffered memory loss. Your goal is to…

unlabelledView post →I think the most striking thing about this game, as I drop this review many months after finishing the game, is how much I've purged it out of my memory banks. Not because the journey itself didn't have anything memorable - it certainly did - but because of how badly it sticks the landing with the ending. Hard sci-fi lovers will probably enjoy the story’s imaginative depiction of what alternate evolution in outer space could look like. This was something I enjoyed personally, and the game does…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended if you like walking simulators, philosophy and "realistic" sci-fi (as in alternate realities that are not very spectacular apart from the philosophical content). The music is nice, the environment is too and I did feel like an astronaut scientist stranded on a barren planet with a nerdy mystery to it. I liked the voice acting and the dialogues. I'd describe it as a nice experience. Not especially memorable, but worth it. If you get easily bored, it's probably not for you and you…

unlabelledView post →The first 15 minutes featured the dumbest, most annoying writing I've ever experienced in a story game. The first "challenge" flashes the answers on the screen before you can even think about what you're doing or why. The main character comments on superfluous things so much that there is no room to think or dwell on any mystery yourself. The writers treat you like a little baby, and despite the excessive dialogue for a game where you are completely alone, the character's stupid comments…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Invincible: A Slow-Burn Masterpiece of Sci-Fi Atmosphere The Invincible is not a game for everyone, and it proudly makes no apologies for that. This is a deliberate, contemplative "walking simulator" that trades action for profound atmosphere, transforming you into an interstellar detective on a hauntingly beautiful and hostile alien world. If you crave a thoughtful, literary science fiction experience, this is a rare and remarkable gem.…

It used totally new tech, nothing taken from X2: Wolverine's Revenge. We worked on this game for about 6 or 7 months IIRC and then the game was cancelled and we all lost our jobs.

unlabelledView post →Good game with lots of walking on beautiful alien planet. IT was quite long journey and it's been nice. There's couple of points I'd like to mention: There's lots of missable achievements, if you're completionist - use guides. If you move too fast some dialogues might get interrupted by the others. All roads you may take lead you to the same places. Maps here have alot of forks, by taking other road you mostly get some different dialogue, but sometimes it can be piece of important…

Id say half of that is true. voice acting, story, atmosphere. all good. If you want that, Thumbs up. But the "game" side of things, just isn't for me. It is extremely on tracks and holds your hand and pushes you along. Down to it, you are not playing a game, you are playing a movie. All that is good if there were decisions to make, but I didn't feel like I found a single…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game. its a walking simulator but theres a really good story behind everything!! i strongly recommend it, the plot is engaging and theres always something happening to keep your attention, especially the parts with the dangerous and destructive robots!! the graphics are really beautiful and the environments are immersive. its definitely a great choice for anyone looking for a narrative focused game that, even though its a walking simulator, never feels too slow or boring.…

If i was able to, i would have finished this game in one go. Really loved my time playing this. My advice would be to give this game a chance if anyone is thinking about it. If you care about storytelling, even a little, you are going to enjoy this.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genuinely the most annoying story game I have played in my life as of me typing this. This game has many horrible implemented mechanics that exist for seemingly no reason, like virtually all of the dialogue selections being time based, forcing you to make a decision quickly when you are literally walking through an empty expanse. There are frequent "checkpoints" that permanently stop you from exploring the previous area, which makes 100%'ing nearly impossible on your first try (I got screwed…

Outstandingly gorgeous visuals, one of the best stories I've played through - beautiful, scientific, deep, tragic. Please make more games so I can give you all of my money. This is absolutely a forever favorite.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing The Invincible recently and I'm totally captivated by it. It's more of an interactive novel than a game, very similar to Firewatch. But I like that sort of thing and the story is great. And I absolutely love the midcentury modern / atompunk technology and visual style.
unlabelledView post →Very much a walking simulator with an emphasis on walking, the many invisible walls, forced one-way paths, odd UI behavior, and extremely selective/inconsistent climbing would make this a very frustrating experience, were everything else not as good as it is. The environments are absolutely gorgeous and the technological aesthetic is to die for. The voice acting is omnipresent and well done. The story is interesting and the alien discoveries suitably alien instead of feeling like something…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game but it is a bad walking simulator... I love 11bit studio, I love the book author Lem and I enjoy walking simulators similar to Firewatch so I assumed this game would be right in my alley. Oh boy... 2/3 of the game is driving and walking/running slowly with nothing to see but sand and rocks. I mean it looks amazing for the first hour with the starry sky but after that it is boring af. The game went from 6/10 to 4/10 the longer it dragged down.

It made me feel like I was curled up reading an old paperback sci-fi novel from the 60s, the kind with those amazing, stylized covers. It's truly a piece of peak gaming if your idea of 'peak' is deep atmosphere and existential dread instead of shooting aliens. 5/5 Stars – Absolutely Essential Sci-Fi Why I Can't Stop Thinking About It It’s the vibe,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The way I think about whether I should play a story-driven game, aka walking simulator, is whether it is more worth my time than chipping away at my long, long list of (good and not so good) movies to watch. Unfortunately, I don't think this is worth the time investment, at 6-10hrs for a playthrough. While the visuals, voice acting, and atmosphere are pretty good, I just didn't find the story to be compelling enough. The story lightly touched upon some interesting sci-fi and philosophical…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you liked Firewatch, then this is the game for you (vice versa) I really enjoyed my time trying to predict what the story is about, and it does a good job of not letting you predict well. can't say much, I recommend this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Invincible is beautiful but inert. Its retro-futuristic world recalls Fallout, yet denies you the freedom that world promises. You walk, you listen, you wait. Choices circle back to the same outcome. The story wants to make you a philosopher, but never lets you think — only follow. A good book, a decent movie, but a dull game.

This most notably occurs when attempting to reach the Alliance field base as part of the narrative. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m a sucker for Liu Cixin's hard sci-fi, and... I haven't really read much of Stanislaw Lem's work, only Solaris, which explores the limits of human understanding, much like this one Now I know what to read next, thanks to this game, it's a prequel to the novel, after all
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its cute. I like the look of the tech, the story unfolding. But a game has never made me physically ill. All that camera shake on a big screen, and constant looking at the feet. It's rough team.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Story telling is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ atrocious. The gameplay is constantly interrupted by flashbacks and it breaks immersion and flow that really could be told in sequence rather than interfering with my investigation of the surroundings.

unlabelledView post →The Invincible is a rare example of how a book can be adapted into a video game without losing its philosophical core. Rather than retelling Lem’s novel, the game builds a prequel around the mystery of the starship Condor, expanding and contextualizing its central enigma without distorting it. Where the novel looked through the eyes of a monumental, Soviet-like spacefaring hegemony—capable of landing skyscraper-sized ships on alien worlds as mere displays of power—the game narrows its focus to…

Unfortunately, at some point the performance degraded so badly that I can no longer continue playing, even on the lowest settings. The same issue happens on both my PC and Steam Machine. One particularly strange example: turning on the interior light in the rover drops the framerate from around 60 FPS to about 20 FPS. Turning the light off immediately brings it back up. On the Steam Machine, the game now crashes immediately after…

It's a walking sim, so not much gameplay, but loads of story and dialogue - which I enjoyed! It started and ended a bit slow, but it had a good middle. Would've liked it more without the motion sickness. I would recommend!
unlabelledView post →So, speaking of stories in the guise of games, behold: The Invincible. It's not a game at all, it's a story in the guise of a game. Though unlike a few others of its ilk, there are minor, minor deviations you can do. Maybe you won't find all the dead crew of this other ship. That sort of thing. Nothing especially consequential, mostly just cheevo-seeking behaviour, something you might need to be mindful of if you're wired for cheevo-seeking. There's some conversational forks you can take,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Started off very promising. I was quickly hooked and immersed in the story and environments. But after the first couple of hours, the game progressively loses steam. It's just so slow, and the plot didn't really develop much past the point. The ending is particularly abrupt and unsatisfying. If it's on sale for under $10 it's probably worth it, but the $30 full price is a bad deal.

unlabelledView post →The Invincible is based on one of the books by a Polish hard science fiction writer, Stanisław Lem. I remember reading some of his books as a kid and really liked them. The game definitely belongs to a walking sim genre, but it tells a great and intriguing story. It's not super long, but I definitely got a great value out of it. The choices you make throughout the game matter and will impact the story. Beatiful visuals that many times just want you to stop and admire the view. A lot of times…

unlabelledView post →First playthrough review time. The Invincible is mostly a story and exploration game, with very little action. Most of the gameplay is about walking through different places, exploring the surroundings and making choices during conversations. The movement can be a bit slow at times, but it is clear that the game is more focused on the story than on action or complicated gameplay. The best part of the game is its science fiction setting. The environments look good and the visuals, sound and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Invincible was one of those games that has a deep story, which makes you think about humanity and its importance in the universe. The game is based on the novel by Polish author Stanislaw Lem, I haven't read it, but as a bookworm, this game has made me interested in reading it to know more. As for the game itself, the gameplay took around 7 hours for me. It's not that long, but it already felt a bit stretched out in the middle and definitely could be a bit shorter. However, even with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting story, great design, gorgeous visuals in almost every scene of this game, but when it comes to the mechanics/pacing and direction of the game? It's jarring to put it lightly. I can tell how much love has been put into this, but it is so linear, so boxed, and the movement mechanics are kind of terrible to interact with. I love walking simulators, but if the walking part of the game, which is literally the focus of the game is at the very least unsatisfying and at most a pain to…
