60 of 126 · most liked firstRest in peace Tom Noonan. Legitimately one of my favourite actors - I always smiled whenever he turned up randomly in stuff. Loved him in RoboCop 2, he made that film way more entertaining than it had any right to be. Also fantastic in Manhunter, Last Action Hero, The X-Files, The House of the Devil

positive · AI labelView post →#NowWatching rewatching The House of the Devil. Such a great, atmospheric movie for me. 😃😃🖤🖤🖤 #MutantFam #HorrorCommunity #Horror #PhysicalMedia
positive · AI labelView post →#HorrorWatch In the beginning of The House of The Devil, the main character is told by an older woman that she always listens to her gut. And then the rest of the movie she ignores her gut. Listen to your gut. Don't second guess yourself. Listen to your gut. Enough people try to gaslight you.
neutral · AI labelView post →R.I.P. to film/theater legend Tom Noonan! Interviewed him in 2009 for THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL; wish we had more time to talk Michael Mann, Jim Jarmusch, or his directorial debut WHAT HAPPENED WAS... (Memorably, he held back no disdain for Michael Cimino nearly killing him on the HEAVEN'S GATE set.)
neutral · AI labelView post →Ti West is one of my favorite directors from the newer generation. His recent stuff has been great, but I think THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL is still my favorite of his. Despite being set in the 80s, it feels like a 70s slow burn horror movie.
positive · AI labelView post →Watching THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL (2009), the 43rd film on my 60 For 60 list of one horror film for every year I’ve been alive. Not the biggest Ti West fan so we’ll see how it goes. #HorrorSky #FilmSky #MovieSky #FirstTimeWatch

neutral · AI labelView post →The House of the Devil by Georges Méliès was released in 1896, is widely considered the first horror film, and features Mephistopheles/The Devil, so I feel like it can confidently snatch the title of “first faith-based horror film.” Also, it’s four minutes long. youtu.be/qt0w2qP6REg?...
neutral · AI labelView post →I'm used to being one of a small handful that loves a movie fiercely (like THE FRONTIER) but honestly, looking at Letterboxd, I had forgotten how many people hate THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL so much my brain legit believes everyone loves that one, even when confronted with clear evidence to the contrary

neutral · AI labelView post →Tom Noonan - 📽️ The House of the Devil (Ti West, 2009) RIP to one of my favourite character actors, an effortless master of quiet and haunting tone. Noonan makes West’s flawed Satanic haunted house movie spark to life in his handful of moments, superpowering any genre tale through talent. #filmsky

positive · AI labelView post →The House of the Devil (2009) It’s been a while since I’ve watched this so giving it a rewatch. An authentic love letter to 70s cult horror and the first Ti West movie I ever saw. Well worth a watch if you haven’t seen it.

neutral · AI labelView post →Watching #TheLastDriveIn episode of The House of the Devil; though I've seen the movie a couple of times I didn't get in in TLDI until the 1st Xmas special. Love the bit where Noonan answers the door and towers over Jocelin Donahue and Greta Gerwig! And AJ Bowen is ALWAYS great.
positive · AI labelView post →We've already hit a lot of high points but I wanted to mention Tom Noonan pops up in Ti West's THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL and legitimately just takes over the film
neutral · AI labelView post →2009: THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL If “elevated horror” exists, it starts here. Maybe the most audaciously constructed horror film I’ve ever seen, while still in love with its genre. I could write a whole essay on Gerwig’s performance alone.

neutral · AI labelView post →7. The House of the Devil (2009) dir. Ti West This movie rips. I think it might be one of the best examples of a slow burn horror that explodes all at once #31daysofhalloween #nowwatching #horrorsky 📽️
positive · AI labelView post →Share a horror movie title that begins with the letter “T” 🎥 T is for… ‘The House of the Devil’ 🖤 (don't start with me about t counting or not, it counts if you want it to and if you don't then don't pick one with the as the first word lol)
neutral · AI labelView post →I think Apostasy is the better of the two films, but I was really taken by Requiem's visuals. Despite being made in 2006, its stellar production design coupled with shooting on 16mm film has it looking right out of the 70s. Reminds me of how The House of the Devil nailed the 80s so authentically.
neutral · AI labelView post →After watching The House of the Devil, Roger Ebert fan-cast Tom Noonan as Judge Holden in the hypothetical Blood Meridian movie. Because he was that unsettling.
neutral · AI labelView post →It's no surprise the only Ti West film i could actually get into had a prominent Noonan role (The House of the Devil)
neutral · AI labelView post →Aftenens film er valgt! The House of the Devil. En af de mindre kendte Ti West film som jeg syntes virkelig nailer looket af en sen 70’er tidligere 80’er film looket. Plus det er en film om Satan så what’s not to like ??

negative · AI labelView post →The movie “The House of the Devil” had a limited release on VHS in 2010 to mimic 80’s horror movies. I think I’m going to look into getting a VCR. I think VHS should be remembered as a format. #Splatterday
neutral · AI labelView post →Getting in one more film before I do the podcast tonight. Introducing a friend to The House of the Devil (2009). I reviewed this (my professional gig back then) when it first hit DVD, and I adored it then. Nothing has changed. #tiwest
positive · AI labelView post →We'll see if Second Sight can deliver an edition of THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL that's worthy of what's still probably my favorite Ti West film. (And by the way, Second Sight's UHDs for THE BROOD and SCANNERS are both wonderful, so hopefully I can get around to writing those up in a bit.)

neutral · AI labelView post →DAY EIGHT 9. The House of the Devil An atmospheric Satanic panic movie with 80s style. The pacing is kind of slow, I could have used more bits of tension building, but it's got a fun, bloody end. #31DaysofHorror letterboxd.com/film/the-hou...
neutral · AI labelView post →Watching The House of the Devil with my mom. She’s had a rough day and she picked the movie. We stand on the principle that horror makes a bad day better in this house.
neutral · AI labelView post →Absolutely nailing the early 80s horror vibe almost masks the fact that very little happens for the majority of the film, and that which does is fairly predictable. Fun to watch but it’s a short stretched out 90-odd minutes. The House Of The Devil (Ti West, 2009)
neutral · AI labelView post →Awww, man… Ti West did that shitty-looking Ebenezer movie? I hope they paid him enough to make ten movies like The House of the Devil or X.

neutral · AI labelView post →I’m so excited for the final season of STRANGER THINGS & still plenty convinced that Ti West’s love letter to satanic-panic 1980s slashers THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL opened the soor for that kind of nostalgia-inflected storytelling—such a delightful movie: youtu.be/42lu2Bsgp_8?si
positive · AI labelView post →96) The House of the Devil (2009) I kept thinking "wow, this is very Ti West" until the end of the movie and realized it was Ti West.
neutral · AI labelView post →Watched The House of the Devil (2009) & felt its fairly solid horror movie from director Ti West, whom pulled off the 80's setting where other horror movies failed to immerse their audiences. Absolutely recommended as a film to see once Halloween season starts to ramp up. #Filmsky #horror #movies

neutral · AI labelView post →013. The House of the Devil (2009) Dir: Ti West Easy to argue that it's Ti West's best film. The slowest of slow burns but i feel the pay off earns it. A retro satanic panic style film where a babysitter must look after an elderly woman on the night of a total eclipse.
