unlabelledView post →It sure looks like I’ve got another three movies, three days stretch. The Heartbreak Kid at the Music Box Saturday, probably back there for Fantasia Sunday, then to Alamo Monday for a real favorite, In a Lonely Place. (Gloria Grahame in that film: 🔥🔥🔥🔥.)

Despite its idiotic title, I always loved this brutally funny story of a man who falls in love/lust with a young beauty on his honeymoon. Eddie Albert & Jeannie Berlin recieved Oscar noms. #filmsky 📽

unlabelledView post →Alert for Chicagoans (and those nearby), @musicboxtheatre.bsky.social has an Elaine May matinee series that includes a one-off screening of a 35mm print if the incredible The Heartbreak Kid. Through a series of mergers, the film is owned by a pharmaceutical company, so catching the print is rare.
unlabelledView post →I’ve completed the Elaine May bio through the chapter on “A New Leaf” (1971). Very interesting read so far on someone I used to know almost nothing about. Now I have to wait to continue reading until I have a chance to watch her next film “The Heartbreak Kid” (1972) — hopefully soon!
unlabelledView post →Was reading about the brilliant Elaine May, and realised I’d never seen The Heartbreak Kid, the 1972 black comedy she directed, written by Neil Simon and starring Charles Grodin and Cybill Shepherd. Quite the pedigree. So I thought I’d get hold of a copy. (1/3)
unlabelledView post →The Heartbreak Kid. getting this on a proper disc fully restored would send the entire film community into a frenzy at this point.

unlabelledView post →A guy I dated for a few weeks - he was nice, just no chemistry - took me to see the latest Ben Stiller comedy. It ended up being a remake of The Heartbreak Kid, probably the most mean spirited, unfunny film I’ve seen my entire life with some of the most nauseating “gross out” gags to boot 🤮
unlabelledView post →The Heartbreak Kid - Can't think of a more perfect way to end my festival run. Wish my first movie was The Mastermind because Reichardt definitely references this.

Either A NEW LEAF or THE HEARTBREAK KID would be a totally sound/great Elaine May pick, but I'd go HEARTBREAK.

unlabelledView post →Also everyone on here for Charles Grodin & Elaine May's shared birthday today are talking about their movie "The Heartbreak Kid." It's a great movie, but I am also going to unabashedly shout out "Ishtar." Elaine May wrote & directed it. Grodin has a hilarious role. It got a bad rap. It is so funny.
unlabelledView post →Elaine May's movie THE HEARTBREAK KID (1972) with Charles Grodin ended up being acquired by the pharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Squibb in the 1970s. They decided to make an entertainment division (!) They dissolved the division shortly after, locking its distribution rights in permanent limbo.

unlabelledView post →Just watched "The Heartbreak Kid" at Austin Film Society Cinema last night. The original, not the 2007 reboot. It's hard to create moments that make you laugh, cringe, and feel a twinge of sadness at the same time, but that movie did it over and over again for me.

unlabelledView post →The Heartbreak Kid is mine. Possibly the worst Farrelly Brothers movie and to top it off there was a parent with a kid in the theater and this was a excessively raunchy R rated movie which made it even worse
unlabelledView post →The Heartbreak Kid. Only theater movie I’ve walked out of.
unlabelledView post →546 - The Heartbreak Kid Definitely one of the most cynical uses of "Close to You" I've ever heard. I saw the remake first. This is a completely different film with almost nothing in common, though the remake uses the original ending this had with him in the same situation again 🌟 #1001Movies
