The Green Light
Developer waleedzo
A first person horror game. Fred is stuck in a dead-end job, haunted by hallucinations. A voice on the radio speaks of a green light. It promises peace and freedom. A tale of self-discovery where Fred is willing to find freedom, even at the cost of his life. From the Steam store page

unlabelledView post →Actually the worst game I've played in a long time. I went in with decent expectations, you know since it was rated VERY POSITIVE I could probably write a 500 word paper on why this games sucks, but I'll just list a few things - Horrible attempt at "jumpscares". You can see them coming from a mile away and they suck - Corny a$$ dialogue and story, I rolled my eyes multiple times - Bad graphics, looks straight from Gmod - Not an ounce of tension, for the whole hour or so of gameplay The only…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't get it. The story doesn't make any sense, and the ending makes me wonder what the 46 minutes or so were all about. That's roughly how long it took me to finish it. So.. The game starts and you're at work, rather unhappy about it even. Some things happen, there's some jump scares and a voice on the radio encourages you to head to the lighthouse where a green light is. The green light is the answer to life's problems, I guess. I don't know, to be clear. It's never really explained…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another philosophical piece with direct ties to the previous game, "The Black Within". Both games are relative to the desire for improvement of life circumstances, but differ in the choices presented to the protagonists, the paths they choose, and the ultimate outcome of their decisions. Each is a short experience (~1 hr) and well-crafted, particularly the voice acting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is good. Graphics , sound , atmosphere are all good. Story is easy to understand as well . Can’t wait to see future projects
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not refunding it since I did play the game in full, my community had a good time chatting about it and I don't want to punish the effort of an indie dev. But at the end of the day, it wasn't a good experience. The game is at its best when ambiently spooky while you complete tasks, and at its worst... The rest of the time. Whether having your movement AND camera locked in place repeatedly for mundane dialogue, getting jumpscared by the same entities over and over at predictable times,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just finished playing the game, and I love how relatable its message is for so many people nowadays, especially those of us just trying to get by while bills feel like a ball and chain. One of the parts I really liked was the voice acting and the connections between the characters. It feels like The Black Within and this game take place in the same timeline, which I really enjoy for the plot. There were some puzzles I struggled with because they didn’t make much sense to me, but alas… I feel…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2/10 experience, predictable unscary jumpscares that makes no sense just as the whole plot. The lantern doesnt even shine like lantern, but a flashlight therefore looks like an eye sore. At first i thought its another game with abstractionism motif but no, its just illogical to the core. Wouldnt recommend for free :c
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I went into this game after seeing it have positive reviews. If only I decided to look closer. There was many issues with the game. 1 being sometimes the voice acting was quiet at times. Almost like the guy was whispering. The jumpscares were awful. My chat from my stream scared me way more then the game did. The story was so confusing. Like what was the meaning of the green light? What happened to our character at the end? Why was every note we read depressing? The puzzles were poor. I am so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's possible that if you just want a little horror experience and you're okay spending a few bucks on it you'll be happy with this game. But overall I can't recommend it, even for the low price. I will say, the voice acting is very good. Might be enough to carry it for some people. Quality performances all around, especially the lead. Beyond that though, it's just a bland experience. There's nothing wrong with using asset packs, but this game's usage feels very out-of-the-box with no flair.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →short walkingsim minimal puzzle game. i enjoyed it at 50% off.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this after seeing the dev post on Reddit because I figured it'd be nice to support a fellow indie dev. Unfortunately this plays like an extremely rough draft - the story is trope-laden, confused and nonsensical, the game logic is a mess, and it feels very badly designed. I genuinely don't know how this is sitting at Very Positive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty good creepy game with just the right amount of horror elements, top notch voice acting, a few light puzzles, a decent length. I don't like when ANY game makes you use a flashlight (or lighter) to see in darkness, that's a personal pet peeve, I'd rather have it lighter. Overall I definitely enjoyed it. Not too sure about the ending but it's all good. Really liked it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1. Game restricts movement, when they want to show you jump scare 2. Hard to understand objective 3. Runs worse then tarkov on potato pc 4. Particles were very bad 5. Strange puzzles 6. Feels like asset flipped game Atleast one good thing. 4k grass
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the story is good and meaningful, voice acting is good, music good, but idk a bag of cement that weighs 50kg as it normally comes in 10 or 20kg XD
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Green Light is a really solid game with no shortage of effective jump scares, and the overall pacing feels well balanced. I would’ve loved a slightly longer story, but what’s there is still enjoyable and engaging. The voice-over acting felt a bit soft at times, though I didn’t use a headset as recommended, so that may have played a role. Overall, this is a good experience and definitely worth playing. I’d recommend it 👍
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall this was a really good game [8 / 10] that I enjoyed playing through! The voice acting, the atmosphere, and the graphics were all fantastic. The jump scares were well timed and gave me a good scream. The puzzles within the game were pretty straightforward which is something I didnt lhave any issues with as it allowed the game to progress smoothly rather than keeping the player stuck in a specific location longer than they needed to be. I will say that the story itself is a little…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just finished The Green Light, and honestly… it stuck with me. This game isn’t just about horror. Playing as Fred and slowly understanding what the green light really means felt very personal. It’s about being stuck, wanting out, and searching for peace , and that idea is handled in a quiet, respectful way. The atmosphere is heavy in the best way. The sound, visuals, and pacing make you feel alone with your thoughts. There aren’t any cheap scares, and I really appreciated that. Instead, the…

Look, I didn't hate my experience playing this game, it was serviceable, but I don't think I'd buy it knowing what I know now. I certainly can't recommend it at full price, but maybe if you get it on sale you can waste some time on a short horror experience. The game looks nice, but uninspired, save for a red area towards the end of the game which pleasantly surprised me visually, making good use of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jenibug69 nailed it in the review. My only complaint was as before with removing the jump scares. They just aren't needed for the game honestly. Worth a play through. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad game, some nice puzzles, nice frame rate, nice graphics, decent game to pass an hour and half, thanks for making it :-)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it was ok. wish there was a neutral button. 3/5 stars for me
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a pretty decent psychological horror game. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short but well constructed horror game. The jump scares are well timed and do not feel cheap. It does a good job building tension throughout different locations and the graphics/visuals are also well done; not demanding on lower end setups which is also a plus. I personally really enjoyed the voice acting in this game, the actors did a really fantastic job conveying the disgust and fed up feelings one gets with a dreaded 9 to 5 job with a terrible boss grinding you down to complete burn out.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, especially for 3 euros! One entertaining hour! I really enjoyed Fred's voice acting, and the aesthetic! UH will play this 100%.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Green Light is.. an ok walking simulator with some static jumpscares thrown in at decent locations. The story starts with an ok hook, but sadly doesn't hold through the game, and the ending just feels bland. Still I can recommend getting this when it's on sale, especially if you are easily frightened, for that quick spook with a short playtime.

unlabelledView post →A very nice horror game, but most of the jump scares were not very impactful, however the buildup to them is well worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THE GREEN LIGHT Yet another short horror walking simulator that has a nice creepy atmosphere and second game developed by waleedzo. The visuals are decent so is the audio/music/voice acting. There is some light puzzles to uncover key items at certain times, requiring you trigger the proper script but nothing too annoying! So what is this one? Like the synopsis says, you go as Fred, an overworked guy that's haunted by hallucinations and want's answers once and for all by that lighthouse…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a nice horror game, voice acting, graphic, ambience. Just for the objective might be confusing something.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has so much potential! The cinematic cutscenes are awesome, and the story has an intriguing mystery behind it. I would’ve loved to see a bit more gameplay, especially since I really enjoyed what was shown, but I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who likes shorter indie horror games (I was able to finish in a little over an hour). On a more personal note, seeing AI-generated art pulled me out of the experience a bit. I know this won’t matter to everyone, but it did make me question…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a really good game with great graphics and storyline. I will definitely be recommending this game to others.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome short game. Well paced, nicely executed. Give it a try for sure!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Found out about this game on Reddit and boy am I glad I did. About 50 mins in and I have already jumped more times then I can remember from any other game before. Story so far is interesting, gameplay is smooth, highly recommend for horror game players and lovers out there
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game. It had some good tension and jumpscares and a story that I think anyone with an office job or a job in general can relate with (the boss is the worst). This is only the developers 2nd game and I've liked both of the games. I can't wait to see how this dev evolves in the future! Full Playthrough: https://youtu.be/7Xh4kYLEb4Y
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed it. The game took about an hour to complete, and it's definitely unpolished in places - but at the price point I think it was a solid experience that I don't regret. One piece of criticism I have is that many of the scary moments were undermined by what I consider to be bugs. For example, in the very first jump scare of the game in the hallway of the office - a monster spawns behind you. I definitely expected this but I happened to sort of walk backwards into the monster and it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →AMMAAZZING game! Really cool story and visuals, no bugs and very cheap for the quality you get
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I randomly stumbled upon this game. I really liked the vibes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developed and published by waleedzo, The Green Light is a psychological horror adventure that places narrative and atmosphere above traditional action. Rather than throwing players into relentless encounters with monsters or relying on constant jump scares, the game tells the story of Fred, a weary employee trapped in an exhausting routine who finds himself drawn toward a mysterious lighthouse after hearing an unsettling voice through a radio. The promise of freedom represented by the strange…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Reminiscent of The Lightkeeper, but with a different take on the story. Overall. A really solid game. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short but atmospheric horror game. The candle puzzle was simple but fun, and the environment had a creepy vibe. Took me about an hour to finish, but I enjoyed the experience. Looking forward to more games from this developer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really strange project without a distinct story really. Ending is as vague as it can get. Too many abstractions. The ' quests' i would have never completed without youtube
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Liked it, the story was interesting and I assume it was about leaving a job that burns one out and chasing the dream of becoming an artist which is a theme we see IRL ever that often. The overall aestethics were a bit all over the place, but as it seems to be a solo-dev-project it is kinda acceptable and still matched each other, I mean, try to find matching assets without paying too much money or learning 3D modelling yourself. The length is fine too. I tend to rush through things and an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not that good sorry
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this one! Puzzles are not ridiculously complicated (which I prefer - some may prefer more of a challenge), jump scares aren't overused, and the I really appreciate the thought put into the storyline, which is uncommon in indie horror (in my experience). Yes, the voice acting can be a little cheesy and the volume level dips at times, but that's hardly a reason to give this game a negative review. It was thought provoking and entertaining, my chat enjoyed as well. Solid 7/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While the game itself looks beautiful, voice acting is great, and it ran much more smoothly than The Black Within, I still feel this game was really lacking in the story and puzzle department. It started off strong in the beginning and the demo had me intrigued enough to want to play the full game, but I felt rather disappointed with the final product. Truthfully, I think the The Black Within was a more solid gaming experience with an actual story arc compared to Fred's story. I feel that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game blew me away, I was expecting some cheap jump scares and a walking simulator but what I found was an extremely atmospheric experience and a good bit to ponder on after the credits rolled, I won't go into the story here it's definitely best to go in blind. If your into a deep and mysterious story with metaphoric elements and a good dose of horror as well then this is the game for you! Highly recommended and I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for future releases from this creator.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoyed it. The voice acting was great and the song used is beautiful. Had some good jump scares and a great atmosphere.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →maaan this was a short but deeply a deeply amazing experience. The Green Light nails atmosphere, emotion, and storytelling without wasting a single moment. The tension is subtle, the message is meaningful, and the ending stays with you. Huge respect to waleedzo for creating something this focused and true. Absolutely worth playing. cant wait for the next creative game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wonderful short psychological horror game, gripping narrative and stunning visuals. Took me roughly an hour to get from start to finish without exploring further and I know I missed a lot, I am looking forward to revisiting the game again and finding all it has to offer. It did have some extremely subtle jump scares that did make me swear numerous times. I sincerely hope the dev continues on this journey, I would love to see more in this world, even some DLC that focuses on Kips story (no…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm reasonably immune to jump scares but it got me on a couple of them. I would have laughed my head off if the female figurine under the stairs (near sauna room) came to life and started being a nuisance! Great little game, wish it was longer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice game, some great jumps and some personal agendas that a lot of people would feel very close to heart. For the price it is a bargain. Be warned it is short, but that does not take away from how good it is
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short horror game with a gripping narrative. Highly recommend it! Check out my gameplay here! https://youtu.be/JcT3GENloeA?si=M6aNcotTjQV5gDoP
