19 year old Isaiah Wright lives for basketball and video games. A year out of high school, he has no job, no plans, and no idea how to be a man. At odds with his single mother Cynthia, Isaiah is given an ultimatum – to step up or move out. unlabelledView post →If you don’t follow Jesus, can I ask a quick favor? There’s a movie out called "The Forge" While it’s a bit polished and cinematic, it also gets a lot right about what disciple-making is supposed to look like. If you’ve seen it—or are open to watching it—I’d love to hear your thoughts! ✌🏼
unlabelledView post →If I hadn’t seen The Forge with my own eyes, I wouldn’t believe it. This really happened toward the end of the movie; the warehouse workers willingly jumped in for an all-night 2nd shift to fulfill an order. The workers ended up getting a big bonus at the end, but still. Not believable.

unlabelledView post →From one end of the spectrum to the other: I can't (well, maybe) believe there is actually a Matt Walsh movie people would pay to see. I picture The Forge as something which would have been at home on the Hallmark Channel.
unlabelledView post →"The main character, Isaiah, did not become less true to his African-American heritage through the mentorship he experienced... Growth in the manner exhibited in the film “The Forge” is not an anti-Black narrative."
unlabelledView post →Certainly nothing that jumps out as anything like Barbie or The Fall Guy. The Forge is playing at a lot of theaters this weekend. A Kendrick Brothers religious movie (meaning it's preachy, but not white evangelical preachy). Maybe she'd like that if it's playing nearby. It's gotten decent reviews.

unlabelledView post →The Forge is a two-hour Christian recruitment tape masquerading as a faith-based drama. In fact, movies like this make a compelling case that the difference between Christian recruitment tapes and faith-based dramas is negligible at best. #TheForge #MovieReview #Drama #Film https://ninetypercentcrapmoviereviews.wordpress.com/2025/02/21/the-forge/

unlabelledView post →Watched the Forge this week on @netflix.com, missed it in theaters. To me, this is a great example of being a disciple for Christ, instead of a Sunday Christian. The film felt like bringing forth the teachings of Christ, and giving to God instead of mega churches.
