unlabelledView post →There's more empathy in Sean Baker's films than there are special effects in Marvel movies. Loved Anora but The Florida Project is my favorite film of all time. Tangerine, Starlet, Prince of Broadway, Red Rocket, all great. Also, he's the Elia Kazan of directing non-actors.
unlabelledView post →Anora is an excellent choice for Best Picture. Two things: 1. Anora feels like the closest thing to a modern take on a 60s-era Billy Wilder film, I can’t quite explain why. 2. Go watch Tangerine and The Florida Project to see how good Sean Baker has been for a while.
unlabelledView post →I loved ANORA, but I rewatched TANGERINE last night and I think it's even better. But THE FLORIDA PROJECT is still my favorite Sean Baker movie, not surprising, because, as I've said before, it's literally my favorite movie of all time.
unlabelledView post →In the wake of Sean Baker's Oscar win, I recommend everyone watch his earlier film The Florida Project, one of the best films of the century so far tubitv.com/movies/10002...
unlabelledView post →Best emerging filmmaker working today. Every film is a masterpiece. The Florida Project is the best depiction of homelessness I've ever seen depicted in popular culture. And I've been working in the housing/homelessness field for over 35 years.

unlabelledView post →Just saw The Florida Project—what a film! Are Sean Baker’s other movies as fantastic as this one?
unlabelledView post →Trying to wrap my head around someone here saying one of the worst movie scenes ever is the end of The Florida Project. A stupid take of mammoth proportions.
unlabelledView post →It's not "Russian propaganda". The Russian oligarch characters are not painted in a good light at all. What it is, is a Sean Baker film. And that means it has it's own kind of niche audience, just like Tangerine or The Florida Project.
unlabelledView post →Just seen a Guardian piece about Anora which describes Sean Baker's previous film The Florida Project as a "child prankster comedy". I know you're on a tight deadline and nobody expected Anora to win, but no.
unlabelledView post →ANORA is the latest film from Sean Baker, whose films include THE FLORIDA PROJECT and RED ROCKET, continuing his run of superb character studies that blend tragedy and comedy, here led by a tour de force performance by Mikey Madison. My review: bit.ly/4hWHHYJ

unlabelledView post →Happy #LetterboxdFriday! Time to post your #LastFourWatched 🎬 some good stuff with one horrible film mixed in! Still thinking about The Florida Project.

unlabelledView post →generally always a great lead performance in a Sean Baker movie but the only one where the whole thing worked for me was The Florida Project
unlabelledView post →I remember thinking The Florida Project is the only movie I've ever seen that understands how kids move, especially that they run everywhere.
unlabelledView post →No idea why I’m included in this but yes please follow me to learn about film locations because I worked down the street from where they filmed The Florida Project so I can tell you when they’re walking the wrong way down 192 to get to a location

Here are some others that may have what you are looking for. - Flow. It is about a cat leading a group of animals to safety during a flood. - Good Night Oppy. It is the story of the Mars Lunar Landers and the amazing way they were used. It is incredibly inspiring, as is so much that NASA does. - Marcel the Shell with Shoes On:…

unlabelledView post →The Florida Project (2017) ★★★★★ This would be a 5-star review even if I wasn’t an Orlando local. Just a fascinating and captivating slice of life film with incredible performances, especially from the child actors... View full review on @popfeed.social
unlabelledView post →First watch: Sean Baker's Palme d'Or winner Anora. Veers from sex comedy to farce to absurdism: as wild a ride as you might expect but less illuminating than other films of his I've seen (ie The Florida Project). 1/
unlabelledView post →The Florida Project [92] is now on HBO Max: www.metacritic.com/movie/the-fl... #11pmspecial "This is a remarkable film, one of the best of the year (2017)." - Brian Tallerico
unlabelledView post →From Sean Baker, director of The Florida Project, a movie all about how Disney has turned the entire Orlando area outside the borders of their own property into a hollow, predatory slum
unlabelledView post →Finally saw Anora and, as advertised, it’s very good (knockout performances throughout), but it didn’t quite wow me the way Tangerine and The Florida Project did. Wim Wenders’ Perfect Days remains my favorite film of 2024 so far.
unlabelledView post →In every movie by American independent feature film director Sean Baker — “Tangerine,” “The Florida Project,” “Red Rocket” — there comes a moment that catches in your throat. Dorothy Woodend on what “may be the movie of the year,” “Anora.” 🎞
unlabelledView post →Finally watched The Florida Project and I can't decide which film I find Willem Dafoe more attractive in, that or Finding Nemo
unlabelledView post →not sure how the piece holds up writing-wise, but here's my piece from a few years back about the exquisite ending of new Palme d'Or winner Sean Baker's 2017 film The Florida Project
unlabelledView post →Adding: The Florida Project is a great film, and it's specifically about not going to Walt Disney World. Which means it's about many other things, too: Income inequality, joy in found family, looking after each other and so on. The kid actors feel like real kids, not twee.
unlabelledView post →The Florida Project is much beloved in this house but primarily known as "the Willem Dafoe hotel movie."
unlabelledView post →F**k GOP and Johnson the little lackey, I'm watching movie Anora tonight. The same director who did The Florida Project, Sean Baker won Palme d’Or! I heard the performance is flawless, actor Mikey Madison won many awards, got Golden Globe nomination.
unlabelledView post →The Florida Project made me sob. An absolutely incredible film.
unlabelledView post →Following Sean Baker's Palme d'Or win, checking out his earlier movie starring Willem Dafoe. Now watching The Florida Project (2017) 📽️ #filmsky
unlabelledView post →Finally watched The Florida Project. A charming and honest genre film of every day life in the outskirts of Orlando. Often through the lense of 6 year olds who can be gremlins at times, it takes places mostly around impoverished housing projects. Willem Dafoe is fantastic as usual.

unlabelledView post →Beautiful new limited edition 4K release of The Florida Project - still Sean Baker's best film in my opinion.
unlabelledView post →Even More Films Anora (2024). Directed by Sean Baker I have a tendency to think that if a film wins an Oscar that I won't like it. However, this one was directed by Sean Baker and I loved Tangerine, Red Rocket and The Florida Project. Unbelievably, the Academy got it. This is a superb film.
unlabelledView post →I wrote a piece on The Florida Project and why it resonates so deeply with me. Every time I watch it, no film makes me cry like this one. It captures the harsh reality of how life really was, but I'm grateful it exists. It’s my story and the story of many others. Can read here: #MovieSky #FilmSky
unlabelledView post →Anora is a movie about a sex worker named Anora. She works legally as a stripper in New York, and she also does escorting on the side (which is criminalized in New York). Most of Sean Baker’s movies - like Tangerine, The Florida Project, and Red Rocket - are about sex workers.

unlabelledView post →Okay now go back and watch Tangerine and The Florida Project so you can see how early in his film making Sean deserved these flowers.
unlabelledView post →To go from the shot-on-film, colourful BEAUTY of The Florida Project to the disgusting, desaturated, CGI mess of Wicked was quite the thing. #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched
unlabelledView post →Tangerine will be in the National Film Registry soon and The Florida Project was my favorite movie of 2017. Very happy for Sean Baker! Maybe his new film will be his best.
