unlabelledView post →#letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched #filmsky #moviesky Pretty interesting movies this past week. I didn't even finish The Elixir because of how frustratingly stupid the protagonists were. But Hardware is a very interesting movie and so was the Orphanage (albeit a tad slow).

The movie awakened something in me and I became hooked on the idea of a drug that can change your gender and make you feel different. If I'd been him Id have let Helen take over.

A family run herbal medicine company creates a ‘concoction that will change the world’ w/ only 1 major side effect, it turns people into ‘rage virus’ zombies who are easily distracted by rain & ‘sky flowers’. #HorrorMovies
unlabelledView post →Never seen The Elixir. Really liked Carnival of Souls, though, hate that it he never made another movie. And of course Night of the Living Dead is fantastic (once saw it in a theater where my wife and I were the only people not dressed as zombies)

unlabelledView post →I was watching The Elixir on Netflix and I stopped watching part of the way through because I need to watch this with my Girl's Night Bad Movie Night group. There are so many dumb character choices, like rich in stupidity. "Bitch, why are you yelling?! Run?! Close the door?!! Fight back?!"
unlabelledView post →Just finished watching Kimo Stamboel's Indonesian zombie film The Elixir (Netflix), which was like every Walking Dead and spin-off episode crammed into a soap opera about ageist beauty standards. I enjoyed it.;)
unlabelledView post →I shamefully haven't watched that one yet, maybe if Mr. Husband heads up to bed early tonight! I love "The Thing" with Kurt Russell, and "Poltergeist." The most recent decent one I watched was "The Elixir" (a Thai movie, on Netflix).

unlabelledView post →42) The Elixir A solid practical effects zombie movie. The movie itself is fine, though the script isn't great and the characters act like genuine idiots sometimes. Love the zombie makeup though. I've somehow watched Korean, Thai, and Indonesian zombie flicks now.

unlabelledView post →Watched The Elixir (2025)....I've seen so many zombie movies that you have to either have characters I care to follow or do something new with a zombie movie. The Elixir does neither and is ultimately a boring film for that.
unlabelledView post →Decent zombie movie. Good job Indonesia!
positive · AI labelView post →Watched The Elixir, never has a movie been so pretty and the protagonists so stupid. It's all bad choices all the time, and whilst I get that, they live in a world without zombie lore they still make awful choices from any normal self-preservation standard. Really took me out of it.

unlabelledView post →2. Abadi Nan Jaya (The Elixir) (2025). There are many bonkers Indonesian horror films but I think this is a first attempt in the modern zombie genre. Relentless action, good effects, fun shocks! A dysfunctional family business goes awry, and a village in Sleman pays the price with a zombie outbreak.

unlabelledView post →This isn’t the first Indonesian zombie movie, but probably the most proper one so far. The thing is, it actually has a lot of potential to be something great — too bad the execution feels kinda shallow. It’s gory and artistically disturbing, the local culture vibes are there too. I just wish the Jamu thing was explored deeper, ‘cause that could’ve made it stand out instead of feeling like just another zombie flick. Still, I gotta say I like the character drama — they’re pretty complex. It’s…

unlabelledView post →This one is a trip almost immediately, and we get to see some shenanigans afoot. This film is at the very least creative in some aspects and yet still follows the tropes of the genre. It does have a cool and unique feature, I hope sci-fi fans will appreciate it.
