The Dog Stars
Directed by Ridley Scott
After the world's population has been ravaged by a pandemic, a man lives a lonesome existence in a Colorado airplane hangar with his dog and a dour gunman he has befriended. When a mysterious transmission comes through on the radio while he’s flying his old Cessna, it sparks a hunt for the provenance of the sound. From TMDB

What a great movie!! One of those worth seeing in the theater—and one that leaves you hoping for a sequel! Great story, great actors, great direction! No racial quotas, no trendy interracial couples, and no gender issues shoved down our throats—in short, no “woke” garbage! A breath of fresh air. I want more of this. I highly recommend it! I’m looking forward to a sequel!

Sad to say THE DOG STARS (in theaters Friday) is kind of a dud. Despite some decent action, the characters are really underwritten and it has a completely bizarre tonal shift that nearly derails the film. It does feature some of the most beautiful aerial photography I’ve ever seen in a movie, tho

Sat. Aft. Movie Review - The Dog Stars - Dir. by Ridley Scott w/Jacob Elordi/Josh Brolin I love post-apocalyptic movies. Not every PAM needs feral cannibals going feral all the time. This movie is slow, gorgeous cinematography, moving. It is about rebuilding and finding a way forward. We loved it.

i would call The Dog Stars an odd movie that doesn’t work but it’s really more like four different movies, none of which work, and none of which work at all with each other either

Watched The Dog Stars Truly it takes a special kind of skill to make a post apocalyptic film boring and aimless but Ridley Scott finds a way in this film that desipte of the actors and directions best efforts, the writing wastes any potential it could have and bores you instead
How this was made: an AI model (deepseek-v4-flash) read 34 of the 181 public posts we collected about this film and wrote the summary, likes and dislikes, citing the posts behind each point ([n] opens the post). A second AI pass checked every statement against the posts it cites; anything it could not match was removed, and code removed any statement with quotation marks, numbers that are not in the posts, or unattributed claims about people. The split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Generated Oct 9, 2026. Method

neutral · AI labelView post →Ridley Scott'ın yeni filmini izledim az önce... The Dog Stars... Sevdiğim yönetmenler listesinde üst sıralarda yer alır her daim... Alışıldık Ridley Scott tarzı bir film değil... Daha duygusal... Bir çok filmden "esintiler" taşıyan (başka türlü anlatmak belki de zordur) post-apokaliptik bir hikaye.

neutral · AI labelView post →The absolute whiplash of finishing The Dog Stars by Peter Heller, and then seeing the trailer for the forthcoming film. Talk about disconnect. The book is quiet, occasionally violent, vaguely hopeful. The trailer? Well, it doesnt look much like that *at all*. Bah.

neutral · AI labelView post →Oh, so... The Dog Stars, huh? It's pretty neat. Gorgeous score. Great cinematography. Zero nihilism detected. And just when I had given up all hope for Ridley Scott to ever make a decent movie again. Shame that movie critics are all imbeciles.
positive · AI labelView post →THE DOG STARS mega-flopping is proof of my theory of what makes a movie do well in this day and age: guarantees. SPIDER-MAN guaranteed its audience from ads that it would be an action filled spider man movie — so it did well. PAW PATROL guaranteed its audience that it would be pups & dinosaurs.
negative · AI labelView post →Crazy that running that wholly uninteresting trailer for The Dog Stars before every movie for the last 4-5 months didn't translate into major box office success.
negative · AI labelView post →Reviewed THE DOG STARS—I definitely have a soft spot for a late period Ridler ditty, but this could be the most minor Scott of all. Elordi Excellence as always though. www.spokesman.com/stories/2026...
neutral · AI labelView post →The major problem with THE DOG STARS is that the thin characters are mismatched with the thematic heft the film hopes to bring. Like I'm not sure how anyone could touched by people who are, at best, as interesting as wet cardboard.
negative · AI labelView post →I read that Ridley Scott is directing a film adaptation of Peter Heller's The Dog Stars. The film will be about a pilot navigating survival and loss in a world destroyed by a pandemic. Ridley Scott seems like the perfect director for it.
neutral · AI labelView post →The Dog Stars (USA, 2026) Overraskende god film.
