You go in and grab a brand new copy of The Darkness 2 off the shelf and rent it for a week for $5. You pop into Little Ceazers next door and grab a Hot-N-Ready pepperoni for $5. You go home to your crappy college apartment and play D2 all night and crush that Hot-N-Ready like it was nothing. Didn't really get better than that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PORT DARKNESS 1 ON PC NOW !! Darkness 2 is phenomenal game no doubt, the story arc, the characters the theme of Darkness, the gameplay, everything was top notch what I want is Darkness 3 but more than that I NEED Darkness 1 on Steam!! C'mon 2k, take my money! Highly Recommended 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the 2nd game that I opened for the first time and was so enraptured that I could not put it down until I had completed the entire thing and if you haven't played it you should play it. (The first was The Darkness II and I don't know what that says about me)

He bought it for me knowing damn well about the violence, but that didn't stop him from introducing me to absolute peak. Even after 14 years since it's release, it still holds up wonderfully and brings back many fond memories. I wish they make a 3rd one some day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finished fully both Playthroughs finally! It has been a very fun, immersive, great action game. Dark, Sadist, Violent, Psychologically racy. Its like Serious Sam on drugs in hell. You play Darkness the iconic comic book character phasing between what seems reality and delusion. Are you really a mafia lord with dark demon inside or a mental patient being treated in an asylum missing out on delusion medication. Its mostly linear story and choices offered except in end do not change the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man, The Darkness II still hits different even after all these years. I remember playing it back on the Xbox 360 back in the day, and somehow it still feels just as good now. The vibe, the story, that raw emotional edge it’s not just a shooter, it feels heavy in the best way. The powers are still insanely fun, like straight up chaos but in a cool, controlled way. And the atmosphere? Dark, gritty, kinda haunting… it just sticks with you. Honestly, it aged way better than most games from that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Quad-Wielding mechanic and satisfying gunplay were incredible, And the noir comic book artstyle was really appealing. I just hope we could get a PC remaster for the darkness 1 here on steam one day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When The Darkness was first released back in 2007, it wasn’t primarily marketed as a comic book adaptation. As a result, only a small portion of players actually knew it was based on a comic series. I was already familiar with Marc Silvestri’s work (Cyber Force, Wolverine, Witchblade), and after watching an interview with the Swedish developers at Starbreeze during the Games Convention, I knew there was no way I could pass on The Darkness. Right next to BioShock and Assassin’s Creed the game…

Even after so many years, and even after playing it back in my younger days, the game still remains as one of the most intensely crude and violent journeys anyone could ever play to this day. Considering how society works today, there's not many games bieng released that could compare to the perfect blend of action and sadism that The Darkness II features. While…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I first played this game as a kid at sub-720p with terrible FPS, but I still had incredibly fond memories of it. Granted, at that age, basically every game feels god-tier, so I was pretty skeptical about replaying it today. But oh boy, this game still absolutely slaps. It is pure, unadulterated FUN. While so many modern games try to be bloated, soulless open worlds, this one was clearly made with love by the devs. I’m not going to call it a 10/10 or GOTY, but it’s a solid 8.5/10. Even with…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was really enjoying The Darkness II and making good progress through the game, but unfortunately I ran into a game breaking bug that completely stopped me from continuing. After entering one of the vents, I simply cannot get back out. It feels like there is an invisible wall or some kind of invisible blockage preventing me from leaving the vent. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, verifying the game files, and even restarting the chapter, but nothing worked. It’s extremely…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only regret I have about playing Darkness II is that I did not keep an accurate count on how many times "The Darkness" is mentioned in the dialogue. Some of the game mechanics are old and didn't age well, but the raw form of the game is excellent. This title isn't really meant to be played in stealth mode (except for the darkling segments) and you will get more enjoyment if you are more of a run and gunner. There's no hiding the 2k genetics in this title, so if you enjoyed any of the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You like B-movies? Where the first game was an ok shooter with a slower pace to combat; the sequel goes full arcade mode; very fun flow to combat. But it didnt sell well enough for 2K. With their prized pig Borderlands 2 came out a few months later, all DLC and any chance of a 3rd game was squashed. We still talk about you. Cult classic.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Darkness II mixes crime drama and supernatural horror and handles both fairly well. Since the first game is not available on Steam, I played this one without any knowledge of the previous story. Even so, it was easy enough to understand what was happening. The game explains the important details along the way, and the voice acting helps during key scenes. The story is quite straightforward and some characters do not get much development, but the campaign moves along at a steady pace.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still wondering why we never got a 3rd game. Guess DE is too busy with warframe and 2K is as money hungry as ever to make a single player game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jackie and the Darkness are back! The Darkness II is a first-person shooter developed by Digital Extremes. Digital Extremes replaced the first game’s developer Starbreeze and gave the game a new art style and made it more action-oriented. Have you played it?
unlabelledView post →The fact we never got a sequel to this game is so sad. The Darkness 2 is incredibly fun and has an addictive gameplay loop. The story is even pretty solid and the twist at the end may be a bit obvious but it still hits. I DEMAND THE DARKNESS 3!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Darkness II is perfect for players who want something different from typical FPS games. It’s violent, stylish, story-driven, and unapologetically bold. Whether you’re new to story-based shooters or just want a memorable single-player experience, this game deserves a spot on your playlist.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a sucker for brutality and such and this game did not dissapoint a single bit. You can cut off limbs, pull someones spine through their bumhole, and so much more brutal fcked up ♥♥♥♥. Great game, also has a hooking story
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty interesting game, jsut sad they dont have Darkness 1 in store to complete collection. Would Recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably one of the most interesting FPS games to ever have existed, it has such a unique story and overall feel to the game that is unmatched by others. wish they would of gotten the go ahead to make a third game..:-/
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is quite mediocre-to-bad. The writing is very evocative of things a repressed teenager would say, and the depiction of mafia gives 'Redditor that watches too many flicks' of that kind. I do have to mention the funniest bit of dialogue, which in hindsight ended up being the most memorable part of the game for me -the main character starts monologuing about how his girlfriend was the only one who supported him through his school years, while others would shove him into lockers.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is pretty good, with a very interesting plot and two endings, each of which can be replayed if needed. There's no real variety of weapons, but the demonic creatures on the side are something special; you can use them to attack and heal yourself with hearts. The game also has some decent DLC, which is also worth noting; I couldn't find any downsides. My rating: ✭✭✭✭✭
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A BLOCKBUSTER GAME This is the kind of game you'd pick up at a video rental store, play it all day and night over a liter of Pepsi and some Little Caesar's, beat it by the weekend, and return it to the store. You probably wouldn't play it again, unless you snagged it for a few bucks pre-owned, but you'd remember it fondly and get excited when you finally found someone else who played it. It's a great shooter with your Darkness powers being a fresh twist on the FPS gameplay. I was also…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was surprised by how much I cared about the story in The Darkness II. Beneath all the violence and supernatural powers is a surprisingly personal story about Jackie trying to deal with loss while struggling with the Darkness inside him. The contrast between the brutal action and the quieter emotional moments works really well. It isn't a masterpiece of storytelling, but it gives the game considerably more personality than the average FPS. The comic-book visual style works extremely…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Watched my dad play The Darkness 1 & 2 when I was a kid, very nostalgic to play at least one of the games almost a decade later.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want to experience felted darkness. This game is creative atmosphere. It gives your fear, dark rush and love. Video game industry would be in better place if we had more dark themed games. Story is quite interesting turn. Not your typical walk. There will be turns you will not recover from. Combat is also so good and bloody clean. It hooks you up from first minute and never miss steps. Dont get fooled its very addicting and sometimes challenging. Even if you haven’t read the comics of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only downside to me is they left the story wide open, and didn't come out with III. This game had me pleasantly surprised, and I didn't have to tinker with the Steam Deck to make it work.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome follow up to the first game which is crying for a remake. The story and ambience was nailed to a T in this one it follows the comic really well. Quad arms with tons of features the game is really quick and balanced.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Underrated classic that still holds it's weight over a decade later. The kind of game that knows EXACTLY what it wants and needs to be. Pure chaos and fun, plus some familiar voice work that really helps bring it together. Would recommend getting on sale, due to a short story length and not much room for replayability - took me under 15 hrs to obtain all achievements.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sad they don´t really make games like this anymore. It´s a short and gritty FPS with a suprisingly good story, nice gunplay, great voice acting and pretty decent soundtrack. It shows it´s age but the "comic/outline" style they choose really doesn´t make it look bad. The powers give you a lot of options so the gameplay really never get´s old. There are so many ways to dispatch your foes. Only negatives are some performance issues (for me mostly in cutscenes so doesn´t really matter) and a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Play as Johnny and obliterate forces of evil and some shady dudes. You have powers of darkness at your disposal and most of time have fun with them. Prequel is available only on X360 and PS3, but it tells a bit different story. For most FPS players can recommend this one. Shooting is decent, plenty of platforming using abilities and occasional stealthy approach. Music is decent. Visuals not that much but who cares. Grab tommy gun and RATATATATATATATATA
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Darkness II is an underrated FPS game for sure. An improvement over the first game and you don't need to have played the first to understand the story. The story itself is quite fair, the voice acting is solid and the gameplay is enjoyable. FIX: If you run it on Windows 11, it may not launch at all. I tried many things but this is what worked for me. Disable Windows Firewall, restart PC, log onto Steam and right click on The Darkness II for properties, type -w 1920 -h 1080 in the launch…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had played this game back in the day when I was a teen. Just thought of it the other day and looked it up. It was on discount for 3$. I hardly play single player games these days but holy hell this game is still good. Its been a decade since Ive last played and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ am I having a blast dual wielding smgs blasting my way through enemies and slaughtering people with the darkness powers. If you don't like this game you are a loser.

unlabelledView post →The Darkness II is one of those games that initially feels like it was made with one very simple objective: make the player feel powerful. And honestly? It succeeds. It's short, linear, has some rough edges, and features a few mechanics that will make you go "BRO WTF?!". But underneath all of that is one of the most satisfying combat systems I've ever played. You aren't just shooting enemies here - you're tearing them apart with guns, demonic tentacles, environmental weapons and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly still a pretty good edgy first-person shooter. Its not too long, but still entertaining enough for me to get hooked to it. Story ends on a very interesting cliffhanger, wish they would continue this game series. it actually makes me very curious about the comics, as well (even though they seem to follow a different timeline)

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brutal and satisfying gameplay but is sort of short game and story just ends... its a worth a play as its a really fun game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A blast from the past, you should check it out. Pretty fun gunplay, the game is not hard even in the hardest difficulty. The achievements are all possibly done without playing the online mode. A bit of a let down knowing there's no continuation after that scene at the end, and even when I know there are comics, I believe they differ in the story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good story, ♥♥♥♥ cliffhanger
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →9/10 Aside from occasional random audio cuts during character dialogue and the Darkling vent bug that requires enabling VSync to move, the game is quite good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Darkness 2 is the more action and gameplay focused sequel to The Darkness, and that was for the better imo. You get a ton of gameplay options here, you can hold 3 guns, you can dual wield pistols and smg’s, you have various darkness powers (gun dmg boost, stun swarm, melee slap, executions, a black hole, etc), and you can even throw a bunch of environmental objects at your foes. Story is serviceable, it’s basic but goes a mile a minute. The voices for the main villain and The Darkness are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although the groundwork had been laid for a third game, it was a game that wouldn’t see a sequel due to poor sales. I played it anyway. My rating for it is 7.0 out of 10. As for my thoughts: + I was pleased they decided to add a HUD, which wasn’t in the first game. We had no idea what we were doing, did we? We had no clue how many bullets were left or anything like that. + I loved that they gave the Darklings a proper character rather than just multiplying them. I really liked the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Darkness II is a really unique and memorable game, especially because of its mix of brutal action and emotional storytelling. The combat feels satisfying with the dual wielding guns and the dark powers, which makes every fight intense and fun. What really stands out, though, is the story and the relationship between Jackie and Jenny it adds a lot of depth that you don’t usually expect from a shooter. Visually, the comic book art style gives the game a distinct look that still holds up…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game on discount for some nostalgia, but honestly it’s been a disappointing experience. The game is full of bugs, especially the Vent mission Even after enabling V-Sync to fix the problem, it still doesn’t work properly. It’s frustrating because I really wanted to enjoy it again, but the technical issues ruin the experience. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great short 7th gen FPS game with an interesting story and satisfying gunplay. Worth playing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Darkness II is basically what happens when a graphic novel and a metal album decide to go on a date and accidentally blow up half the restaurant. The campaign is short but hits hard and the art style still pops. Not the deepest game ever made, but it knows exactly what it wants to be: loud, violent, and weirdly charming. [8/10]
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An amazing underrated game, unique gameplay, rich telling story AND it improves on everything from first game, while Vendetta (CO-OP Mode) is Dead you can still play the whole thing solo, only thing i hated was the unbalance in Don difficulty & the unfortunate cliffhanger ending otherwise its worth your buying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good narrative and gameplay, but quite linear in both. Very creative game mechanics. Worth playing for anyone into horror FPS or action FPS. Another way of thinking of it would be as supernatural FPS Max Payne.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of those games that teen me saw on the Wal Mart shelf and thought "yeah that one", I bought it on a whim. Surprisingly, I had a lot of fun with it. I was even playing it when the multiplayer was somewhat active so I got to see what that was like. The gameplay is pretty cool if you're into the edgy, over the top killing spree type stuff.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even though I never played and know nothing from the 1st game (not available on PC) I'm enjoying this one. It has been a fun ride, the combat with the monster powers is very gratifying and we feel like an unstopable force. But the writing man... I know it's probably aimed at that specific audience, but feels like it was written by a edgy teen, such is the cringyness of it. "Boobs, blood and swering is so cool and mature man! So deep!"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. gun go pew pew demon arms go nom nom.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish games were edgy again. This ♥♥♥♥ was so fun. Only a couple of bugs, and it is very short, but definitely worth the $3 if you can get it on sale. Do not buy this for full price, $30 is insane for this little content.
