It might feel like cartoony look is not scary at all but the game makes up for it with the right setting and atmosphere which surely is unique for such title. Exploring abandoned mansion is interesting and plot surely will engage you for some time. But be aware as there're monsters lurking in the shadows! Recommended for people who like simple yet interesting and…

If you love pixel art and clever narratives, don’t miss this one https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3423807772
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Count Lucanor does something that few other horror games do. Whenever a horror game is about fairytales, or has themes inspired by fairytales, the emphasis is often on taking something meant to be lighthearted, childlike and whimsical, and then twisting it. I think if I hear one more child saying “come and play with me” in a horror game, I’m genuinely gonna take off the slipper Mexican-mom style. It’s cheap, it’s not creepy, and it’s forced. The Count Lucanor, however, builds a baroque…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Where was this kind of game all my life? Legit always been a fan of games like Yume Nikki , IB , The Witch House , Mad Father , Dreaming Sarah and have always wanted more of these eerie and spooky games . Safe to say that if you're looking for a spooky story driven , choices matter games, this is it. This is what a games should be like , lots of choices that DO have consequences . This game is amazing , and this DEV is legit extremely good at making these games. I paid full price for both…

unlabelledView post →I picked this game up on sale because I really liked Yuppie Psycho. I wanted to see what the devs made before, I am not comparing the two games so I will give my honest opinion on The Count Lucanor. Look, it is not a good game in my humble opinion. I had a feeling like this game was made for kids (nothing wrong with that) but the description on the game's Steam page doesn't suggest that. I think the horror elements are weak, the story is generic, the puzzles are way to easy and writing is not…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played The Count Lucanor a decade ago(?!) when it came out, so I’m happy to say the studio’s newest game, Catechesis, is very promising. It’s a stylish, techno-demonic horror rpg with a lot to pick at and chew on. Very excited for this one store.steampowered.com/app/2593320/...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game. The idea isn’t new but still could work very well – a classic tale about a child trying to escape their reality in a surreal fantasy world set in 14-16th century. After playing ‘Yuppie Psycho’ which I believe is a masterpiece of its genre, I was really optimistic about ‘Count Lucanor’ being something special as well. However, this expectation was, sadly, not fulfilled, for this game is unpolished and raw. The gameplay is horribly tedious and simply not fun.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Never boring. Hooked from the beginning premise. Spoopy Scary. Only needed a guide once. Highly underrated game deserves vast recognition in horror gaming.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game so much! Lovely sound track that now plays in my dreams and the freaky stuff starts happening really early on, gotta love hem goats. You can play this in an afternoon! :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is hard, it is intense, but it is quite fun. Once you get use to the movement speed and the save mechanics, it is a fantastic game overall. IF, only IF, you are going for a full 100% run of this game, I would recommend a guide. Maybe a map. I would post my own map if others like. It is a bit messy. The game is great. It is beautifully animated. The enemies are horrifying but easy to learn their movements. The Count Lucanor is just a really fun game to learn everything about it. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Now this, THIS is horror. 10/10. You will very likely die a few ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ deaths, yes. Will it be scary? yes Sound design : 10/10. The monsters are terrifying. Some of the noises they make genuinely give me a physical lurching reaction that still gets me, even on repeat playthroughs. Story: 10/10. Everything that the game builds up is well-designed and well-set up to the point where you can figure out super secret things on your first playthrough if you *REALLY* want to. The game's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ooof. This game has great art and sound design. It is really lovingly crafted. But pixel-precision puzzle mechanics where you dodge traps, a 8-bit artstyle and a walk speed that is nonexisting do not mesh. The saving is poorly explained and not just fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favorite games. Great story, characters, exploration, music and art. Minor issues with the Ps4 and psvita versions but no issues at all on steam.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very beautiful and cute game with great pix elated graphics and sound design and music. Very charming game with a charming story :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Also finally played the Catechesis demo by Baroque Decay and oh man, that's gonna be a cool game to look forward to. It's gonna be 11 chapters?? I really love the wild directions this dev goes for their games in The Count Lucanor and Yuppie Psycho.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's rough around the edges, doesn't have any interesting characters or story, but overall is a simple enough and fun horror puzzle experience
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My wife said if this review gets 50 likes and 5 awards, she will buy a case of beer, guys help me out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like niche indie horror games, go for it. If you're like me and you liked Yuppie Psycho and want to try more Baroque Decay games, then you might want to pass on it. This feels amateurish, the story is nowhere near as interesting and you can't run, which is annoying. The enemies are cool and it's neat to see that some things from Yuppie Psycho were first implemented in this title. The cutscenes are high quality, but not as cool as the ones in Yuppie Psycho. BTW the ony reason why i have…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just play Yuppie Psycho instead. If game had a sprint button I could recommend it. Soooooo sloooowww waaallllkkkkiinnngg. Legit made me quit.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was perfect. Perfect. Everything. Down to the last minute details.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game looks great and was very funny. The vibe was very cool and ominous. *Slamming my head against a wall in frustration* Why. did. so. many. of. my. reviews. just. disappear I don't want to have to make reviews for a single game multiple times.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I already wish I could play it again for the first time. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing experience, please play it blind.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've had this game for quite a while but never played it until some hours ago. This was mainly due to the negative reviews I read which were so disparaging that I ended up uninstalling after having it sit in my library for years. I guess I never paid attention to the fact that both The Count Lucanor and Yuppie Psycho are Baroque Decay games, but I quickly re-installed once I made that discovery, as I'm still on a big high from recently finishing YP. I will say that some of the other negative…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →teeny-tiny game that i shouldn't have postponed finishing for literal years when it took me a mere night to complete. it's a fairly simple story but i still detect layers to peel away if you feel like it. personally foresaw a fair deal of twists right off the bat, which is exactly the incentive i needed to want to examine how it plays into why events present themselves the way they do to the protagonist. unexpectedly strong for the developer's earliest endeavour, the makings of what Yuppie…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →clearly an early work but set up the groundwork for their next, and much better games, like yuppie psycho. still enjoyable and still worth playing. it's like a playable fairy tale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lowkenuinely, one of the best uses of 7 bucks I ever spent. I saw this game pop up in a bundle attached with Yuppie Psycho and I don't regret just saying "♥♥♥♥ it, I ball". The game was shorter than Yuppie Psycho but they did not hesitate to deliver quality despite a shorter quantity. This game was terrifying, to say the least, but I'm pretty bad with horror games to begin with. But, I do think i womanned up to the challenge because the story, the art, actually just every aspect of this game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute game that really does look like earlier work of Baroque Decay. I played Yuppie Psycho before Count Lucanor and nevertheless had a blast playing. Also Camerlengo gave me the creeps.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Delightful little survival horror retro pixel game! The sitting down candles mechanic for lighting was really unique! Great atmosphere and mysterious and creepy story. Lots of little surprises throughout. Definitely want to work and get 100% completion for this game and experience everything! Wonderful job Baroque Decay!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abysmal. Stay far away. Even though I got it at a discount it still feels like a waste of both time and money. Definitely do not get this for the full price even if you are just morbidly curious. The Count Lucanor has a certain vibe to it, namely that of Baby’s first horror game but in a very bad way. It reminded me of other retro-styled titles like The Witch’s House, Ib or the various games by Uri which are all originally available for free but at times make their way to Steam. Child out…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really slow and boring. also ugly
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a fun game this was. Basic but quite nice art style, the sprites were beautifully done and the music was good. The story was good, it took a while for me to understand it all but I think we get to find out the whole thing which is great, it certainly has its horror moments, with a surprising amount of gore in certain areas, not a lot which is unfortunate (or fortunate depending on who you ask) but a nice amount I guess. The characters are also pretty nice. Giulia is my favourite, she…

unlabelledView post →It has the feel of those early RPG Maker horror games like Mad Father, The Witch's House, Ib and various others, but with the more free control scheme of Undertale. I haven't played a huge amount of the game, but what I have played has been really enjoyable so far. Making your decisions suck regardless of what you choose is something I've always thought would be great to do in a game too. Like in life, sometimes the most well-meaning actions can lead to dire consequences.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little puzzle horror game that is both cute and slightly terrifying at the same time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first game of Baroque Decay, and my favorite of the two they've developed as of today. If you've liked Yuppie Psycho, The Count Lucanor has a similar mood, but is set in a classic european fairy tale instead of the corporate world. Humor and gameplay are close, but the game is a shorter experience. Honestly, play this without spoilers. It's quite short but very impactful, and it's a steal for 10€/$.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the goatherd has quite the tongue on him .. eheheheh .. though the save mechanic skill walled me initially, i came back to give this another try. i'm very glad i did. with charming dialogue, pleasant puzzles, an excellent sense of humor, and a variety of endings for all appetites, i can say that this game is worth a run though. or rather i should say, a WALK through. the most annoying part of this game, and the singular strike against it, is the absence of a run mechanic. as a rotten…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a phenomenal game, the pixel art is perfect for the theme, the horror mystery is engaging, I loved it even when it scared me, the music is on point, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, the ending was so good! I even went back to get the "Lesser" ending just to see!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serving as developer Baroque Decay's debut game, The Count Lucanor is a short, sweet and deliciously spooky horror-adventure game. You play as Hans, an adorable but incredibly rude boy who grows bored of being happy and leaves home at the age of ten to seek fame and fortune (what is this, Pokemon?) As Hans finds out, the things that go bump in the night can come right out of a creepypasta. The Count Lucanor has a fair few 'scenes of explicit violence and gore.' There are shocking moments,…

unlabelledView post →I don't recommend it for Mac user at least, because the game is unplayable : When launched, I hear the music and the sound effects but there is no images. (even when I manage to push start on the invisible menu, no images while the cinematic) The story and the game play may be good, but I can't judge. So save your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Already loved Yuppie Psycho so I decided to give this one a try. Very engaging and fun story with a wonderful art style! Really wish there was a sprint button, especially when going for alternate endings and achievements.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Design? Check. Atmosphere? Check. Soundtracks? Check. Story? Check. Should be longer? Check.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, I really enjoyed this game, but I really wish it had a sprint button. It's funny that getting all five endings takes almost as long as the actual game itself.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've always been annoyed by the fact that to be a successful action-adventure, you have to go into "survival horror" territory. Only this tends to motivate people to buy a game that makes them solve puzzles under stress. I personally dislike the occult, zombies, monsters, not only because they are unpleasant but also because they are fake. Anyway! None of the above matters! I felt from the trailer that the game will be a unique and amazing fairy tale regardless of my prejudice and attitude…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a fun horror game! If you like psychological horror and fairy tale inspired stories, this is the game for you. It's creepy, clever, and memorable with multiple endings that make it worth replaying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →About the count lucanor, it's a fun game with multiple paths and puzzles to explore and it's fun how you can make multiple decisions during the game that changes certain events. I love how well written the game is and how each of the endings is pretty good, even thoughts its not the best ending my favorite is one of the ones when making choices at the end without giving spoilers . I am glad I have played this multiple times on steam and other platforms. I love everything about this game and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yuck. Not even 10 minutes in and already animal cruelty. I have no desire to find out what comes next.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would just like to say, on the record, that a nine year old boy solved his family's poverty problem by wandering into a haunted mansion alone at night, and not one single adult in this story thought that was a bad idea. What I love most is how the game slowly reveals that literally everyone the protagonist meets in this mansion is some flavor of doomed, cursed, or actively lying to him, and the protagonist just keeps going anyway with the single minded determination of a child who has decided…
